    Prediction, Urban Meyer will make it to more BCS titles games at Ohio State than at Florida. The reason he left Florida to coach at Ohio State. ;)

    There are three States that clearly have greener recruiting pastures than Ohio.
    Florida - The top recruits are divided up between Florida, Florida State and Miami.
    California - Cal, UCLA, Stanford, USC
    Texas - Texas A&M, Texas Tech, TCU, Baylor, Houston, Texas, Rice and Oklahoma and Arkansas get a few.
    Then comes Ohio - Ohio State and............nobody.

    That's why ND, U of M and MSU get good players from Ohio. The number of 4 and 5 Star players lost will decrease with Meyer.

    Meyer will have greater success recruiting the South than Tressell.

    THE #1 REASON? At Florida Meyer had to go through: Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Georgia, Arkansas and South Carolina to get to the BCS Title game.
    In The Big Ten: Wisconsin?, Michigan?, Nebraska?, Penn State?, Michigan State?, Iowa?
    Which path is more favorable?

    While I disagree with most of the content of your post, I do agree with the concept. Meyer will be able to put up a wall around Ohio as successfully as (if not better than) Tressel did, and he will have success throughout the Midwest. He will also be able to recruit in the south, and particularly in the state of Florida, better than Tressel did because of the connections he built in that region while coaching at Florida.

    He also has a direct line to Our Lord and Savior.....so that helps.

    Spielman has no desire to coach. I saw him say that in an interview. He's kept busy full time with broadcasting, raising his children, and continuing his wife's cancer foundation.

    Plus, he's simply not qualified to BE a coach. He has done none of the legwork most coaches go through before landing a spot on a staff at a school like OSU.

    Interesting stuff.

    Meyer will be the next OSU head coach....until the next time he has chest pains, then he will resign again due to his health.

    How long will that be?
    No idea.

    Meyer is doing the same thing anybody else would do, he wants to be what he has always been despite his health starting to fail.
    His resume makes him a very, very popular choice for head coach but I wouldn't expect him to keep that position very long.

    Meyer has talked to successful head coaches who learned not to work 18 hour days, 7 days a week, it will kill you. Hire good O and D coordinators and learn how to delegate. An example was John Cooper. He could would 24 hours a day and he couldn't beat Michigan. Other than that he delegated a lot of authority to his coordinators and was very successful.

    I haven't read thru all of the Meyer threads so not sure if it's been posted but Herbie was on Mike & Mike yesterday morning and when asked about Urban's offense he replied,"If it was successful in the SEC....it will be like going up against the scout team in the Big 10."

    Just found that comment interesting. Either Kirk thinks that highly of the SEC, that low of the B1G, or a little of both.

    I also liked how he said something along the lines of " It isn't like the offense could get any worse under Urban"

    Herbie loves the SEC, he would make the same comment if he was comparing any other conference to the SEC. He can be a little dramatic when trying to prove a point

    Probably a little of both. It's clear watching college football the past few years that the SEC and B1G are the only conferences that consistently play defense, and the SEC has probably been a little better at it than the B1G recently. While he is being a bit hyperbolic, he's probably right that if it worked in the SEC it should work on the B1G, and if it doesn't, I think he's smart enough (read: smarter than RichRod) to make changes to his system to be effective in the B1G.

    Meyer will do whatever it takes to be successful in the B1G. His game plan will work, you guys will get recruits, and will win the B1G title like u are used to doing. Its keeping him in Cbus, thats the problem.

    The ESPN set in Meyer's house was dismantled yesterday. Urban is going to coach the Buckeyes. Funny for me to think of all the names he has been called by Buckeye fans since '07, and now you love love love him.
    Before you get excited about recruiting in Florida, realize OSU has always had a handful of starters from the sunshine state. There are lots of underclassmen at UF who will tell their young friends how they were flat out lied to by Urban Meyer. They tweeted as much last night. Matt Elam was not even one of them. He better focus on recruiting up north. I'm just plain disappointed that Meyer is taking a coaching job a year after quitting for health & family reasons. I'm glad its OSU, but I really think he will be gone before long without any BCS rings.

    He's from Ohio, coached under Earl Bruce, and was given the chance to turn Ohio State around.

    No need to turn around the program. OSU football is the New York Yankees of college football. If not for the witch hunt put on for the last few months, the Bucks would be playing for a BCS bowl again. Urban is just the thing they need right now. The number on coach out there now. The recuits will flock in.
