I do realize that scholarships are year to year, but I was also under the impression that unless an athlete really screwed up they do get to keep that scholarship for 4-5 years. Am I missing something here?

Basically at most schools they do except the SEC where some teams oversign (per the article I posted). Now all of a sudden one OSU player doesn't live up to his end up the scholly offer and the haters think we oversigned despite all signs pointing otherwise.

    Sigh...

They may not have oversigned. I was just going by the article. But what did he do to not live up to his end of the offer? Not perform on the field?

He never saw the field much...which is a red flag under Tressel. It makes me wonder if he had violated team rules at some point and was in the doghouse and simply couldn't get out, or didn't do what the staff asked him to do to get out.

There is a strong likelihood that we'll never know the whole story, because the privacy laws will forbid OSU from commenting on any specifics, even if he did break rules.

    Got it from the article.

Interesting thread here. I do not think Tressel over signed the way the SEC does it where every year you are going to the coach to sell yourself. However I absolutely think Tressel and every coach has talks with players that are underperforming and they strongly urge guys to find another school.
