Yeah, he's got some spare time now. And he's certainly an expert on lying. -

Trust me Ray Small was absolutely not the reason this happened. Breaking rule 10.1 has now always lead to the rule breaker not having a job so why would Tressel be different? -

Still think this is true?
Must be a pretty good article coming out tomorrow. -

Will be posted today sometime. -
wes_mantoothI bet that article gets leaked early today.
I am a diehard Bucks fan, but I have kind of tuned out most of this garbage for the last month so I am out of the loop. Is there any chance that Gene Smith gets axed over this? Not that I think he was in the wrong, but this whole situation makes everyone look bad. -
DeadliestWarrior34centralbucksfan;785002 wrote:Why do you say that? The NCAA could still bring down the house depending on if more is found. Breathing easier won't happen until this investigation is done with and we find out what is going to happen. OSU will survive. But the program is going to be set back, no question.

When I said breathe better, I just meant we finally got rid of him. And Ray Small is a punk. He still probably spites Tressel for suspending him. -

I've enjoyed your joy over all of this. Makes me remember how much I hate Michigan. It was getting harder to hate them as much with us winning every year. -

Haha. I've shown little joy on here. You are just looking for a reason to bash myself and Michigan.
My "joy" is nothing compared to OSU's joy when RRod was in office. Give me a fucking break and get back to the topic. -
enigmaaxNothing earth-shattering, but a decent read and summary of a lot of points being discussed.

You show joy in about every post dumbass. You post more on this topic then any other. I get it, you wanted him out... I would too if he was the guy beating me every year. -

karen lotzOSUADAthComm Dan WallenbergRegarding NCAA Response (Part I): the Committee on Infractions has extended the response date for all parties to Friday, July 8.
When was the original date?Part II: Ohio State will most likely make that document public on July 11 after required FERPA redactions have been made. -
vball10set^^I thought it was August

karen lotzvball10set;821501 wrote:^^I thought it was August
nah, August is the date they appear before the NCAA. They had a certain amount of days to report back on the NoA. They were asked to provide a ton of information about relationships between the program and outside people. They send that in and then appear before the committee later to state their case and answer questions. -
vball10set^^^yeah, that's right...don't know the answer to your question then
-
enigmaaxMay have missed it on here, but the free golf issue is apparently under official review by the NCAA:

Makes sense, although you'd think the NCAA would have taken that into consideration when the NoA was originally sent out. Is there a typically a certain number of days to respond? -

COLUMBUS — Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith says he's disappointed with "where we are" in terms of NCAA violations by its football program and the sanctions that will come with it, though the university is on track to respond this week to charges that Buckeyes players received improper benefits and that ex-coach Jim Tressel covered it up.
Smith said the school is planning to submit its response to the NCAA on Friday.
Smith told The Associated Press he feels good about how Ohio State how we collaborated with the NCAA in its investigation. At the same time, he said, he's still disappointed by the situation.
Smith declined to address particulars about the response. He did say his positive feelings about the school's compliance department have been "reaffirmed." -
vball10setin the news yet again...
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/2011-07-15-jim-tressel-ohio-state-unacceptable-review_n.htmRecords show Tressel rated poorly in reporting violations...
In addition, Tressel was issued a letter of reprimand barely six months into his tenure for giving a Buckeyes jersey to a recruit, a violation of NCAA bylaws. He was also warned that he and his staff needed to do a better job of monitoring the cars the Buckeyes players were driving — an issue that would arise years later as the NCAA investigated the football program.
Tressel also had reprimands in his personnel file for permitting an outside person to coach kickers before a full team practice and allowing the mother of a recruit on an official visit to make a call for $7.93 that was billed to the university. In addition, his file contained at least two "letters of caution and education" about potential NCAA violations. -

Laughable that it is even news. Shouldn't compliance be monitoring what cars athletes drive? You can only ask a coach to do so much. This goes for every University, not just OSU. Many times the coach is the fall guy. You hire a guy to coach football, and you expect him to have a pulse on the personal lives of not only 100+ players, but also all the recruits? Let's be honest, if you're not committing secondary violations, you're not trying.vball10set;831097 wrote:in the news yet again...

the_system"Other records from Ohio State were heavily redacted, censoring vital information. For example, in a May 6 email to Smith from the compliance office, the university blacked out the number of football players who had purchased cars from particular dealerships over a three-year period."
