Webbie--everyone means everyone...exaggeration often gets people in trouble, so if you don't literally mean everyone, then just say "some" or "most" or "a lot of". Truth be told, nobody needs to discredit Small, because he has zero credibility to begin with.

Was anyone at Michigan aware of Ed Martin and what he was doing?

Honestly, I don't know who knew what. It wasn't a secret that he helped kids by buying them shoes and clothes. That was his gig. I'm not sure what that has to do with anything, though.

Out of that whole article, this stuck out the most to me:
The AP asked for Tressel's evaluations the past two years, but Ohio State spokesman Jim Lynch said those are done face to face between Tressel and Smith and there are no written records.
    That just seems odd.

Link to OSU's HR policy covering performance management: Link
    D. Review forms must be discussed and signed by the supervisor and employee. The employee must receive a copy
of the form, and a copy must be retained in the employee’s personnel file. An employee’s signature indicates that
the form has been reviewed and discussed with her or him. It does not imply agreement with the review.

    E. Each unit is responsible for developing a records retention schedule for its performance management system.
Performance review information needs to be minimally retained for six years after the employee leaves the
    university.
So, are they not following their own policy?

I think that should be obvious based on my avatar.

Someone is lying here. According to Kiffin, the car salesman, it is the OSU compliance department.

Regarding the SI article. This Sports by Brooks guy doesn't really seem to have a clue.
    Sports by Brooks
I've just learned that the George Dohrmann investigative piece about the Ohio St. football program has been added to the Sports Illustrated editorial rundown and is tenatively scheduled to be published on SI.com on Tuesday. That absolutely could change and I will continue to monitor and report what I learn. If nothing changes, expect to see the Dohrmann investigative piece on SI.com at noon eastern time on Tuesday.

LOL--even though I've come to respect a lot of what he/she offers, I've wondered about this myself--it's almost as if this whole situation gives him/her some sort of satisfaction...btw, IMO, as long as THE OSU continues to kick tsun's ass on the field, Webbie can post on this as long as he/she wants.

DeyDurkie5;783602 wrote:then why are you so obsessed with osu?

Because I live in Ohio surrounded by arrogant OSU fans, and it's my favorite team's rival. Durr.

Why are OSU fans obsessed with Michigan?

And, what are you bringing to the discussion?

Hookers, money, cars and maybe drugs will be the end of this whole disaster that has been cast on OSU by Tressel and Pryor. Smalls changes his story after all the negative comments made by players and realizes that he is no longer welcome anywhere, by any OSU fan and is told to change his story or things will get worse for him. I don't think that Tressel will be the only coach that gets outed for their involvement in the corrupt system that is about to be made public.

I guess THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY professors don't educate students enough to know the difference between saying "everyone" and "some" or "most" or "a lot of".
    Or "Everybody" kills people..."

Just like Gee, Smith, & Tressel said in Dec. they didn't educate players enough on compliance. Now after The Lantern article, the players knew very well, but only a few chose to ignore the rules.

Some of you guys wearing scarlet & gray blinders must be getting dizzy from trying to spin this mess.
  • Writerbuckeye
Most of us aren't spinning anything.

We're just not gleefully accepting as fact everything that's being said.

I'd say most of us are actually waiting for things to shake out so we can see what rules have ACTUALLY been broken (besides the one we already know) and then go from there.

Just because we aren't joining in the feeding frenzy that all of you who want OSU to be guilty of EVERYTHING doesn't mean we have blinders on.

    Bias works both ways.
  • Speedofsand
correct Writer, that's why I said "Some of you guys".
I'm not thrilled with the whole mess either. If Tressel, Smith, Archie, and others are proved to be involved in breaking rules or trying to cover it, its time to clean house. It won't be done until after we see what Luke can do this year. One thing is for sure, he will know how not to run a big time program.

Kniffin....not Kiffin. First thing I thought of was why Lane Kiffin would know anything about this.

The Lantern printed exactly what Small said. That being said, I think that Small's comments, much like Pryor's comments about Mike Vick, were probably the result of his inability to accurately convey what he truly meant. Now this doesn't excuse him for what he did at Ohio State and what he said in his interview with the Lantern, but I think his poor speaking skills probably enabled his words appear much more damaging than he truly meant.
The people at the Lantern are more ignorant than Small. They actually believe such crap that EVERYONE was selling stuff and getting care deals, EVERYONE???? Do writers and editors at the Lantern think it's sound journalism to publish obvious exaggerations, untruths and LIES?? Did they bother to interview other players for confirmation that EVERYONE was doing it? I'd think they would be culpable and open for lawsuits by besmirching innocent individuals by printing what they knew was obvious bull shit.
