Should ND coach Brian Kelly step down?

The coach said that "in terms of the tragedy that occurred, there's never been a more difficult time in my life." i think if you asked him and he wasnt facing litigation he would say he felt responsible. that being said should he lose his job and never be able to work again, probably not. it was an accident albeit an avoidable one.
That's just a terrible comparison. The principal shouldn't have lost her job unless there was gross negligence. -
WebFireFrom the FBS practices I have seen both in person and on film, there is no way I would ever think the head coach is giving a rat's ass about who or what and how the practice is filmed. There is too much going on, too much ground to cover. And like I've said over and over, there are people in place to take care of that. You trust that they are doing their job.

Uh. Did you not see his tweets?I don't care what my employer says. If my life is in danger, I'm not doing it.
Ill find another employer.
I'd like to think we all would, but when you're a 20 year old who is given the responsibility as Sullivan was to do a job, you do it. At that age I'd have to believe he didn't feel he was in any real imminent danger because his superiors didn't stop him or warn him--and to me that's where the problem lies. -
vball10setyes, but IMO it was done tongue-in-cheek...again, this is a 20 year student we're talking about
-
wildcats20Yeah I was a 20 year old student one time too. And there is no way in hell I'm getting on an unstable structure in 25+ mph winds.
-
vball10setthen you're smarter than many 20 year olds--when I was 20 I felt I was indestructable, and dying never entered my mind (ergo many times drinking and driving, among other stupid things)

More reason to not assume BK is solely responsible for what happened! -

That makes 0 sense. -

It makes total sense, especially when no one, especially on this message board has the FACTS!LJ;714032 wrote:That makes 0 sense. -

We have the FACTS of the OSHA report. The problem is that OSHA recognizes employers as single entities only. That means if Bob the Builder saws Joe the Builder's head off on accident, OSHA will hold The XYZ Building Company liable. They will never, ever name a person in a report. -
rock_knutne
I understand that but my point is NO ONE knows what happened.....if Kelly ordered the kid to go up on that lift......if Kelly ordered the kid to stay on that lift, no one knows and will never know. To point the finger at one person is absolutely ridiculous.LJ;714041 wrote:We have the FACTS of the OSHA report. The problem is that OSHA recognizes employers as single entities only. Again, Fr. Jenkins came out from the get go and took full responsibility for this tragedy.....end of story! This topic is a non-issue! -

It needs to be investigated until it is found out and that person is fired. "Eh some kid lost his life, but we will never know! No biggie!"rock_knutne;714064 wrote:I understand that but my point is NO ONE knows what happened.....if Kelly ordered the kid to go up on that lift......if Kelly ordered the kid to stay on that lift, no one knows and will never know. I agree with that. Just don't think it should be Kelly. -
september63Should Tressel have been fired when Tyson Gentry became paralyzed by a hit in practice? Because Tressel put him in that position. NO and the logic to fire Kelly is dumb here, it was an accident!!

Dumb
The kid died because of pure negligence, that was ruled to be negligence. There is a HUGE difference. -
Gblockso if it is thunder and lightning and the coach keeps practicing and someone gets struck and killed by your logic its just an accident?...foot ball is dangerous by definition. the osu kid was hurt on the field during a play...not an apples to apples comparison imo
-
september63I dislike ND as much, or more, than anyone. Coach Kelly getting fired over this is ridiculous.

im not saying he should be fired...im not sure what should happen, but i feel the person most responsible for this accident is the head coach. i also doubt he'll be fired. they wouldve done it by now i would think -
The EqualizerWeather is a difficult thing to predict as far as what it's going to do, how long it's going to last, etc. Maybe Kelly wasn't able to find the ones to partner with to handle such a difficult and complex situation and by the time he did it was too late.

Whoever is responsible needs fired. Period. A kid died. -

It has been investigated and no one outside of that investigation will never know and, to be more precise, the University's PRESIDENT, Fr. Jenkins, took FULL RESPONSIBILITY! Christ, how hard is that to understand? -
rock_knutne
LOL........who's responsible? Maybe you should head up to South Bend and conduct your own investigation.:rolleyes:LJ;714107 wrote:Whoever is responsible needs fired. Period. A kid died. -

then he needs fired.
And once again (ugh, you don;t get it) OSHA does not investigate individuals, only companies as a whole. -
