Its BYU. Rumors are the entire football team has been drinking beer and having sex on the weekends.

I think this investigation has been in the works for awhile in which I think Auburn just became shady last year. After all the recruiting stories about Auburn last year and this year, it wont be long for them either. Maybe it will be Aub....but from what Ive read, its sounding more like Oregon or Texas.

I hope it's a school like Iowa State.

Because after all, they are a "major" college football team.

    Tweet by Brooks Melchior(SPORTSbyBROOKS):
Mult. ESPN sources have now verified to me Cowherd was referencing Oregon as school to be ‘outed very soon for major recruiting violations’

Oregon hmmm but the West is so pure. I'm shocked.
Til its confirmed I'm still going with Bama.

What are the odds Massoli started this inquisition?
  • gerb131
Something never seemed right with Massoli thats for sure.

Heres a oregon blog talking about this story and even referencing a specific agent http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindducksbeat/2011/03/oregon_ducks_rundown_30.html

Any real sources on Oregon, are we just citing blogs and message boards?
    Also, any timeframe?

As someone who is anal on research and verifying data and stories, this one has me ticked lol.

Melchior and Cowherd are two guys that do tend to have legitimate sources. They are as "real" as the sources get right now.

I wonder why Cowherd has been saying that the only West Coast sports programs that have been trending up were the Lakers and the Ducks. Makes sense now (if these rumors are true)...

Here's the article that started thread where Bill Greene on the OSU Scout insiders board posted "There is a major news outlet that is on the verge of publishing a report that will blow the lid off a major D-I program, and not a school many would suspect". (funny how he posted that a week prior to Cowherd getting on air with pretty much the same statement).

    http://recruitocosm.fantake.com/2010/12/10/street-agents-in-texas-some-new-competition-for-will-lyles/

I personally think the article is poorly written, verging on unreadable at points, but there are some facts and pictures linking Oregon and other schools with some sketchy street agents.

Most of the speculation I've seen and heard seems to be that Oregon is about to get busted related to the recruitment of Anthony Wallace and payoffs to his street agent Baron Cortez Flenory, Jr (who played for Chip Kelly at New Hampshire). Also there are other Oregon kids linked to the same agent.

My take on it, is that I have no doubts something shady went on at Oregon during the Wallace recruitment. However, I'm skeptical if the evidence is in place to lead to NCAA sanctions, or big media to be satisfied enough for a big story.

It's all speculation at this point, which is why nothings been printed by paper media on it (though writers from the Oregonian are starting to talk about the Flenory/Kelly connection on their website http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindducksbeat/2011/03/oregon_ducks_rundown_30.html).

Cowherd said on his show today that he had a third "reliable source" confirm this rumor last night, and that it involves a "top 12 team", and according to CC, they are: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, LSU, OSU, Wisconsin, Boise State, USC, Oregon, Texas, Oklahoma & Virginia Tech.

From the list vball posted, the only ones who would surprise people IMO are:

    Boise
    Va Tech
    Wisconsin

I'm going to go with Florida, Texas, and Oregon as my list.

Payment of $3,745 from Oregon went to Baron Flenory, Flenory says payment was for a recruitting package. Sold one package only...to Oregon.

Oregon state records show the school paid $25,000 to Will Lyles, a man tied to a scouting service and highly touted recruit Lache Seastrunk.

Its not Ohio State or Cowherd would have not shut up about it. My wish list would include Alabama, Auburn, USC, and then LSU. I don't care one way or the other about Oregon. I would be disappointed if it is a Big Ten team.

Based on all the tweets Joe Schad just sent out looks like it's Oregon as mentioned above.
