  I posted that link from tigerdroppings towards the end of cfb season. The stuff is VERY interesting, but I dont think people posting on a message board counts as proof. It also wouldn't be a surprise if Auburn got hit, their fans are even expecting it, they are just enjoying the ride though.

  Latest developments in this case are that a key executive in Alabama's Colonial Bank fraud case that led to the bank's failure has pled guilty and agreed to testify against others, and an even higher-ranking executive has announced intention to plead guilty.
  
  On Thursday, the former treasurer at Taylor Bean, Desiree Brown, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank, wire and securities fraud and faces up to 30 years in prison and a $250,000 fine when she is sentenced in June in the Eastern District of Virginia.
  
  Court records show that Catherine L. Kissick, the senior vice president and director of Colonial's Institutional Services Division and Mortgage Warehouse Lending Division, is scheduled to enter a plea Wednesday before U.S. District Leonie M. Brinkema. Kissick is believed to be a co-conspirator in a $1.9 billion fraud scheme involving high-level officials at both institutions.
  
  Speculation is that their testimony will result in Bobby Lowder being indicted as the big fish in this bank fraud case. Lowder, known for his micromanagement style while controlling Colonial Bank as CEO for 25 years, is also known for his similar style in managing Auburn University's athletic programs as a member of Auburn's board of directors for nearly three decades. He is currently sitting chairman of Auburn's finance committee, and is suspected by many of being the key person behind any Auburn football indescretions that may come out as a result of wiretaps related to the bank failure and Alabama gambling bribery cases.
  
  Short summary is that the fed's investigation is gathering speed, and if there turns out to be a connection to college football, the whole house of cards will be getting shaky. Latest speculation on that front is that the SEC may take a heavy hit in this, with the scandal extending beyond Auburn.
  
  Too much speculation on too many fronts to cite all the possibilities here. But some are saying if pay-for-play is found to run deep in the SEC and college football in general that the U.S. Congress may get involved, and it could shake the NCAA to its core.

  Tigerdroppings and another blog don't constitute proof but there's a lot of info there certainly. That said I still think it will be Auburn. It's so deep and intertwined that it would have been impossible for action to be taken prior to the NC game, Heisman etc....too many deals needed to be cut to ensure immunity.
  
  Don't be confused by ESPN saying it would be "a surprise". LOL Their pompous stance and affiliation with the SEC, coupled with their belief that we as the sheep believe everything they spew in regards to all things sports related is par for the course. It happened when they were slobbering the knob of USC and it's happening again now with the SEC...of course we should be "shocked". Seriously...GTFO

  Ytown, I as much as anyone despise the amount of "info" that circulates the blogosphere and I almost never believe anything. That is why I'm so certain it's Auburn. There are TOO many facts that the blog and website listed for me to have any doubts.

  There is enough surrounding Iowa as well that they are just as much of a candidate as Auburn

  I could see it being someone else outside of Auburn. Everyone knowns what Auburn is going through, so I don't know that it'd be too shocking to anyone. I also don't know if it's Auburn, because from everything that I've read - if Auburn goes down, there's more than one school going down with it, namely Alabama. I don't really care who it is, as long as it's not Ohio State. However, with that said, I hope it's an SEC team.

  I will choose Auburn or Mississippi State,only because I think their was more to the Cam Newton investigation and between the NCAA and Federal investigations they just needed more time to put their case togetherbefore going public.This could be bigger than any other investigation in college football with public officials and bankers involved with the father in this one.

  As long as it's not Michigan or another Big 10 team, I'll be alright. Like others have said, I'm hoping for an SEC WEST team/s to get it.

  I definitely would not think it is Michigan as they have been on a tight rope for a year now and they are still on probation I think. The NCAA is watching them and USC so I highly doubt it would be either of them as it would come out now and there would be no need to get facts straight.

  Plus, would tOSU have appealed the suspensions if there was still a lot of crap left on the wagon? I just get the feeling that it will be Iowa or Nebraska if it's a Big Ten school - both of them improved rather suddenly using out-of-area talent in recent years.
  
  Personally, I think TCU would be a prime candidate - they simply got too good too fast.

  I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, but couldn't the same be said for Auburn?
  
  I mean, they ran Tuberville out of town and brought in Gizik, who wasn't necessarily a proven winner and turned a 180 in a year? Maybe they brought him in because he was more low key and would be easier to manipulate than a bigger name guy with a lot of light on him already (Rich Rod, Leech, Saban...) you know someone that's a household name.

  They also had an undefeated year just recently and should have had a chance to be called the National Champions.

  If you would read my whole post, which obviously you didn't, I said they should have had the chance to be called NC's because they went undefeated. Plus, USC basically used a player that doesn't even exist in record books to win the title.
  
  Auburn has had two undefeated seasons within 6-7 years and their not a major program?

  Did you not read the part of your post that was quoted? two NC's within a short time period. They didn't win a NC the year USC did.

  I was basically saying that they had two NC's caliber teams within a short time span, which is why they should be a major program. Auburn had a NC team in 2004 plain and simple.
  
  Not too many teams in major conferences, especially the top conference, can produce two undefeated teams during a time when the college landscape is becoming more equal.

  If the death penalty rumor is true, then it has to be Auburn, but that contradicts the reports of it being a surprise team.
  
  I highly doubt this will result in the death penalty and I am guessing this will be someone other than Auburn. I also doubt (or don't want to believe) it is Texas.
  
  Likely candidates to me would be TCU, Oklahoma, Clemson, Oregon, and Stanford.
