Just so much gray matter here. Which is why I have a hard time thinking this will materialize into suspensions.

True, but OSU is pretty good at putting out fires once they find stuff out before it gets any worse so if there is anything to it they will act.

I just got off the phone with a former player from 2 years ago. Things don't look too good.

I don't know much about the site or how credible it is.
It looks like the guy went to photos that the players took from early in the season(the photos are taken in warm weather) and found the players that had tattoos and then named them as the players.

I'm saying that it looks like Sportsbybrooks guy went onto the OSU website, found photos with visible tattoos, and put those photos up on his website as the possible players involved. The pictures were likely taken before the season. I'm saying that that does not add an legitimacy to the topic but instead adds unsubstantiated and unneeded speculation.

TP got that tat before his sophomore(?) year. The one of the Block O, I remember a lot of people talking about it.

Just talked to a current player. He has heard nothing about this issue.

This makes me feel better, kind of.

The other guys I think we could survive without and have a chance to win, but put Bauserman in a rowdy SuperDome w/ Hogs fans and say go win the game and we're fucked

Web sites putting photos of players and listing names about this BEFORE ANYTHING HAS BEEN OFFICIALLY RELEASED may end up costing them in a big way. The wrong photo and name could end up in a lawsuit. There's no "press" (I use that term loosely when talking about these sites) protection when you're irresponsible and wrong.

If they don't have this right, I hope the players involved end up owning their assets.

So Herbie just said that the place was "raided" by the IRS for an audit and that the IRS questioned the pictures.

The IRS has NO BUSINESS dealing with pictures on walls.

Herbie and Musberger just brought it up on the bowl game just now and Herbie said that possibly 8 to 10 players could be suspended for the bowl game because this story has more legs to it then we thought. They said the tattoo parlor was raided and they found a lot of pictures of the players with the tattoos.
  • Tigerfan00
wildcats, I thought that also. I didnt know an audit has to do with what people got tattoos

I'm sure they saw the pictures and said "wait a minute, how did a college kid pay for a tattoo like that?"

And then made some phone calls

    The IRS thing complicates shit...LOL

If I've got the IRS agents raiding my joint, I'm liable to say just about anything.

Who the fuck knows what's up at this point.

As expected, the game is now off the board in Vegas.
  • ts1227
Yeah, there's no way the IRS directly questioned that in the middle of a raid.

During their audit it may have been one of the things where the books were all fucked up, and then they found it was because there was no cash flow, then the NCAA caught wind.

It doesn't sound like the NCAA is involved with this at all as of right now.

Good point, but they are obviously catching wind of it.
  • wildcats20
I don't think there is any way the NCAA would not have just "caught wind" of anything going on at a tattoo parlor. Someone had to open their mouth and report the pictures to the NCAA.

if they didnt know , Herbie sure let them in on it

    So for example...

What happens if TP did trade a signed picture for a tat, but it was 2 years ago. Can they really penalize the past?

Yes, I realize that they just did with Reggie; but that was a different set of circumstances. There was an actual investigation that took years to complete, not a couple days.
