Taking that time out of the day to do a free tattoo is not good business and can really impact the financial livelihood of a tattoo artist.

    DUMB.

Who knew that free tatoos would end up being a huge investigation, to where the star players were selling merchandise that should be in trophy cases. Did anyone have any idea that this was going to blow up as big as this did?

I mean, if you don't want it, donate it to the football offices or something to create a new display out in the lobby of all the different rings they've had made over the last couple of years.... but don't dsell it

    This is a good point.

i don't think they're going to do that now... although it would make the most sense, some of those people in the compliance offices, while often some of the most book smart people around lack the street smarts/common sense to make this sort of thing happen

Pyror spent too much time at sloopys trying to bang 18 year olds then he did trying to win a nat'l championship

    ^^^
In his defense he just turned 20 and should be banging 18 yr olds but he's still a POS for selling the gold pants.

So the books are essentially a gift....if they sell those on eBay following a quarter (like I do and every other college kid does), is that a violation?

Take it from someone who knows... they are NOT allowed to sell the books on eBay.

Of course they want it... they just wanted CASH more than they wanted a piece of memorabilia.

We all should have known what we were getting ourselves into as soon as Pryor said...
I will be attending The University of Ohio State.
    That really said it all.

Cash that they shouldn't need while on scholarship playing football at a major Division I unversity between the scholly check and the stipend

Never said they NEEDED it; simply said they WANTED it more than they wanted the memorabilia. Please read.

    I read what you said.

that being said, I don't think they should have done it

hey trueblue, shouldn't this guy be receiving a ohiochatter infraction point for name calling?

Ya know what Murd...any shit the SEC sack suckers throw our way is probably deserved. We go around holding ourselves higher than those southern hill-jack, rebel flag wavin, NASCAR lovin, inbred fucktards and lo and behold if our players ain't as damn guilty of incredible stupidity as their imbeciles are.

I hope to God Tress boots the "six prix" for the Sugar Bowl and takes 'em on with what we got left and let the chips fall where they lie. I suspect the kids who play by the rules may just surprise some folks.

I have met several people in my life that have earned a pair (or several pairs) of gold pants. Only one of the former players I know gave a pair away and it was to his mother. These former players that I know cherish their gold pants and other awards won. They are true Buckeyes, the 5-6 players in question here are not true Buckeyes and they can dart to the NFL or whereever.

No, it's not. The NCAA can and would dictate that a $1 tattoo is preferential treatment. It's the opposite end of the spectrum for overpaying an athlete to do a job.

Sarcasm. Sorry. Should have been a little more overt I guess.

I don't think he has the cajones, but that's okay--the poster in question is showing his true (rainbow) colors, so it's all good.

Why couldn't the NCAA dictate what the reasonable pricing is? Is there something unique about tat services?

Athletes can't can't get discounts, whether it is a purchasing a Lexus SUV for $1 or a tat for $1, or a haircut at Supercuts for $1. They can't get special privileges, goods or services for being an athlete other than those allowed. Lexus SUVs, tats and haircuts don't apply.

Yes, tatoo services are unique when comparing them to the purchase of a car or any other purchase that has a specific pricing scale. Tatoos are determined by the individual artist, not a collective group that determine a price.
