You are still on that train too?

I cannot grasp how dumb these kids were in this situation.

Next year Michigan St, and Nebraska > Miami.

Miami is not back and still very middle of the road.

AJ Green was suspended 4 games for essentially doing the same thing....and he's from the SEC.

Is Gene Smith really trying to justify this because of the economy?

first thing i thought of too. so the players had to know back when Green's shit went down that this was an issue. i suppose they were hoping to sit on it? IDK what was going on here.

I get the discounted merchanside, but why is selling one's own property "illegal"?

no, he is saying what most people are saying...these athletes should be compensated. Doesn't matter to me...they broke the rules.

    Indeed.

For it's worth, Posey can leave for all I care, and I really would like to see Miller play well in those first couple games and relegate Pryor to the bench.

Distraction in my opinion. Would they really give it their all knowing they will miss 5 games? This doesn't make sense at all.

Damn right I am on that train, like everyone at USC should be! I didn't feel sorry for USC until the NCAA ruled on Newton. If you can't see that something is fishy there than I don't know what to tell you! Also I can't believe these guys are ok for the bowl game. I am not against the punishment for the players of the Buckeyes, damn right they broke rules and are getting punished. I just can't see how Cam's situation is ok per the NCAA but this isn't, and that is the fault of the NCAA!

Just a note that all of this went down when they were freshman and sophomores.

There are rules that college athletes have to live by. The players broke those rules and are now being punished for it.
  • Blanket
And why did Ohio State wait so long to report this?

It's the players' fault. They didn't report it when it happened, that's why it's all coming out now.
  • slingshot4ever
I am not saying it isn't their fault, just young and possible naive to the rules. Smith even said they didn't beef up their studnet education on the rules until 2009.

So these guys are on a full ride so all their text books are paid for.

So the books are essentially a gift....if they sell those on eBay following a quarter (like I do and every other college kid does), is that a violation?
  • Tigerfan00
Gibby, shouldnt you be bagging groceries instead of acting like you know what your talking about.

No shit. The circumstantial evidence alone should be enough for the NCAA to punish Cam and Auburn.

The kids shount have done this but they dont deserve 5 games.
