He had a bunch of others but Johnny Junior High always stuck out lol. Or he would throw a bunch of random things together like....Southwest North Dakota School for the Blind Tech

Anyone else think now that Gee has made this a national issue(not that it wasn't already), that one of the BCS bowls is going to put OSU against one of the 2??? I think it is a very, very good possibility now.

I thought about it too, depends on how much the media runs with it and spanking Michigan, but I really doubt it.

lhslep134;574040 wrote: It's about the grind of the conference schedule.

How about in 2007, OSU got upset by Illinois....last year it was Purdue.

Upsets happen to the best teams in every single power conference, yet TCU and Boise don't lose in conference...what does that say about their quality of competition? It says that they don't have to prepare week in and week out like other teams such as Auburn, Oregon, etc. Why do those teams have to get up each week and Boise and TCU don't? Because the teams they play are so devoid of talent that it's not even close. At least in power conferences the players who play are generally recruited by each other. No one who plays for any fucking WAC or MWC school outside of Boise, TCU, and Utah would play at any power conference team, even the bottom feeders.

This is the thing that so many people miss. Let's say Boise and TCU are elite teams, just like OSU (year in, year out) and Auburn (this year, for example's sake).

If OSU plays a terrible game against its MAC schools, they'll still win pretty soundly. If they play terrible against a middle pack Big Ten team, they could very well lose. They may get 4-5 gimmes every year. Then they'll get 5-6 games they should win, but realistically could lose with a bad outing (or an exceedingly good day by the opponent). Then they'll have their 1-3 games that could go either way even if they play well because the other team has plenty of talent. If they played Boise's schedule in any given year, those numbers would become 10 gimmes and the other two games could be should wins or tossups. Assume Boise is equal in talent. Why should they get away with playing 10 games where they just had to step on the field to win?

Back to Auburn and this season. Let's say they lose to Alabama. They still will have wins over 10/11 win LSU, 9/10 win Arkansas, and possibly up to 3 or 4 wins over 7/8 win teams. At least half of their schedule they have to be on top of their game or risk the upset. Go down Boise's list and match Auburn up - if they beat Va Tech like they should, beat Nevada like they should, who else is going to be a real challenge? Those top two wins don't even match Auburn's, but beyond that the gap really widens. Oregon State is .500 - I didn't even talk about the .500 teams Auburn played.

How big of an upset is it when a middle pack big six team beats a top ten team? How big of an upset would it be if a middle pack WAC/Mtn West team beat one of those schools? Better yet, how many times is that ever going to happen? It just isn't. Boise is at a point where maybe they've outgrown the WAC/Mtn West. So they can't continue to play that level and then bitch because other schools slip up once at a higher level.

That wasn't a direct quote but it would be random names like that he would just run together. One of the best coaches I've played for. Never a dull moment.

THere has been some talk of the Sugar Bowl wanting Ohio State and Boise State so it really wouldnt shock me to see this game happen.

I am. They haven't beaten anyone except for a bunch of O-rated SEC schools(remember 80% of the conference is garbage) and sure they've beaten ranked teams, but those ranked teams haven't beaten anyone good either.

Wow this thread really caught fire fast.

I agree with Danny on this one, kind of unbecoming of a Schools President to make remarks like this.

The audacity of OSU's president is laughable...and yet you wonder why so many people hate the school.

Miami has been overhyped for the past 2 seasons. They were actually better in 09. They are not improving this year. And as for Colorado, they are going to finish 5-7 with a span of 5 losses in a row. They won 5 in 08 and 3 games in 09. I dont call that an improving team. Just face it, another weak schedule and probably a BCS game because of it.
Tell me, who should Ohio State play to get your seal of approval? Nebraska may lose a few players but they are Nebraska just like Ohio State is Ohio State they reload not rebuild besides Taylor Martinez is back so the offense will be very good. Colorado is much better than a MAC school (talent) as is Miami, they will win 8 + maybe their Bowl game that's not bad for being garbage as you put it with most of that talent back again next year. You are obviously a Buckeye hater, they get invited to BCS games because 1) they bring in the money 2) they win BCS games, (I think only USC has won more) You're one of those people who say when the Bucks win a big game "well that team wasn't as good as everyone thought, they were over rated" but when the BUcks lose you say "see I told you they sucked" Keep hating and OSU will keep getting invited to and winning BCS games and both of us will be happy.

I like Gee, just not here. Stick to academics Gee, especially this week. Way to add a distraction during Michigan week.
I've seen Boise live, they are legit in my mind. Stupid comments.

Gee is a jerk and I don't have any respect for him. He should keep his damn mouth shut.

I hope you aren't being serious. You'd have to be crazy to think that TCU/Boise would not join a power conference. There are millions of dollars on the table for them to do so

Overall, yes you are right that they have better athletes. But you can only play 11 guys at a time, and both TCU and Boise State have 11 athletes who are comparable to everybody else's. Moore is a Heisman candidate, Titus Young & Austin Pettis are both great WRs, their RBs are solid, and that is just the offense.

I still laugh at the idea that he criticized the idea of a playoff because it would ruin "tradition", yet he was one of the guys leading the charge to move the OSU-Mich game to the middle of the season. The guy clearly only cares about who is lining his pockets at the end of the day.

You also gotta love when presidents and chancellors talk about the "student athlete" needing to be in class as one of the reasons a playoff is undesirable. That excuse went away when they tried to drastically alter the NCAA Basketball Tournament.

Gee also said that he thought a playoff would be a step towards "professionalism." Odd that every other major NCAA sport concludes with either a tournament or a playoff. I guess those players are allowed to edge towards "professionalism"

    Boise State's President fires back.......

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101124/ap_on_sp_co_ne/fbc_t25_ohio_st_president_bcs
Boise State's president said his counterpart at Ohio State's claim that Big Ten and SEC teams play a "murderer's row" schedule "is the greatest exaggeration I think we've heard this year in college football."
Kustra had Ohio State's last two schedules in front of him — the Buckeyes have played Southern California and Miami, in addition to several mid-majors and directional schools — and said, "If they're not playing the Little Sisters of the Poor, they're playing the Little Brothers."
"I don't mind somebody stating that they don't think we ought to be in the national championship, but to do it with such erroneous information as Gordon Gee has used, gets under the skin of all of us who thought university presidents were supposed to be standing for fairness, equity and truth in how we portray our universities," Kustra said. "And he's doing a very poor job of that at the moment."
He added: "Maybe President Gee doesn't go to the games of the teams that are not in his Big Ten, but he's playing some easy marks."
    And TCU's.....
TCU athletic director Chris Del Conte also stepped into the fray, defending the Horned Frogs' unblemished record.
"We only worry about our house and what we do at TCU," he said. "I'll put our record up against anybody."

Oh, now Nebraska has been great for many years, right? They just reload? They havent been relevent for years just like Miami. You wont win the Colorado argument about it being a good game. OSU has lost more BCS games than won lately. As I said, winning cupcake schedule's (and plus the money as you said) is what gets OSU into the BCS games. Who should OSU play to "get my seal of approval"? They cant help it about their conference strength....I know that. But instead of playing only one or no tough OOC teams, they should schedule at least two.

Moore would start at every Big 10 school(maybe sans Michigan)

The irony of course is TCU's president talks about how Ohio State plays 3 MAC schools a year, whereas his conference is the freakin' Mountain West, a MAC-like conference in its own right.

He also states he'd love to play OSU anytime and anywhere. I mean of course he would, it'd be a big payday for getting his ass stomped. Let's schedule it, heck, put in OSU's 2nd string and we'd still win by 3 TD's +
