  I have a question for all of you......I don't care who is or is'nt playing because they all turn the ball over!!! The Biggest problem I see is PASSING the ball!! Do the jr. high and boys club programs teach and work on fundamental passing? I know the varsity and jv have to do this also but it start's at the jr. high...if not the boiy's club!This team has to be the worst passing team in 30 year's......it just drive's me nut's how they just continue to throw the ball all over the place!! Is it just me???? Can't they just take care of the stinking ball????? Is that to much to ask???

  no they dont ..the coaching at the boys club is vol. but u would think at the jr. high level somthing would be taught,its a joke,plus the hoop players r not very good.

  How did you know I was watching you It was senior night so early on you see some guys that aren't usually on the floor. We had a large senior class but not that talented, so playing the future now is the way to go and I think the jv's had a winning record early in the season before the call ups began and I would much rather see them getting varsity time before the tournament than someone who just happens to be a senior. I think the coaches see these guys daily in practice and see what they can do over an extended time while we see a few flashes in a game and think that is how they always play, but over time the misplays from them happen. I think playing time is earned in practice and that is where coaches decide on playing time.

  Glad the seniors got to play the entire first quarter, but i think Seiler and TJ played well enough to maybe warrant a few more minutes later on....but it didn't happen. To be fair, we were down 9 after 1 quarter of all seniors, and actually had a lead at halftime when mixing in the juniors.
  
  But we're 6-12...what's it gonna hurt. TJ has a good outside shot and that's something this team sorely lacks. I wont pretend to know what goes on behind the scenes as to why player A is playing and player B isn't, I'll trust coach has his reasons, but doesn't owe us, as armchairs, any explanation whatsoever.
  
  Our AD said in his opinion, Lexington and Madison are the two best teams in the OCC. Madison had good guard play (how many times did they abuse our guards off the dribble. The had two athletic forwards that could do it all and a couple of bangers down low. Solid team.
  
  It was good talking with the two other arms of the triumvirate, especially interesting conversation for sure.

  After reading the posts of r1 and RR1, I certainly agree that just because I say "I don't get it", I'm owed no explanation as to why. I'm just "armchair quarterbacking". As stated, we don't know what goes on in practice.

  Went several possessions in a row in that 3rd quarter doing nothing but turning it over. Madison is scoring and we're giving the ball away. Not hard to figure out how we lost the lead & game.
  
  Madison went into halftime mad, and they took it out on us in the 3rd. I don't think we came out as focused in the 3rd.

  It's more than the passing imo....its being able to anticipate a pass and know what the other 4 guys are going to do...I don't see that. I just see guys flying around a million mph and throwing the ball all over the place which is resulting in tons and tons of turnovers.

  The guys flying around are out of control and get themselves to where they force a play and its usually a turnover, they don't seem to think and see the floor at their speed which leads to bad passes, travels, off balance throws to the basket ( not shots , just hopefull throws) playground ball instead of team ball. I think that's why these guys are not starters but see limited action. Plus slow movement of the ball on offense allows the defense to follow the action and not have to work as hard. No one can get the ball in a shooting position without someone there or if it's the bigs 2 or 3 defenders collapse to them and the hacking is allowed down low by the officials and if there is a foul we can't make a good amount I would love to see less dribbling and more crisp passing to move the ball around.

  +100!!!! Haha absolutely! Wasson hasn't gotten a foul called on him consistently since his sophomore year. He gets beat up down there.

  I went to the Orrville-Wadsworth game tonight, mostly to see Wasson play since he is going to Malone, where I graduated from. The Grizzlies were up by 18 when I left, and Wasson had 27 points and around 6 rebounds despite getting abused once again. Winters had 10 or 12, meaning that Wasson and Winters had all but approximately 10-12 points scored by the Riders.
  
  Being an unbiased observer, I am going to give my opinion of the Red Rider team. If anyone is offended, forgive me, but I am just trying to be totally honest;
  
  * Orrville is opposite of most high school teams in that they have great size, but very little in skilled guards.
  
  * The backcourt, frankly, is horrible. The great tandem of big guys is wasted due to the lack of a true point guard, and outside shooting of any sort. There is no guard capable of setting up the offense, and getting the ball to Wasson, Winters, Pirmin, Neer, etc in good scoring postion. The offense has no flow whatsoever.
  
  * Young Jonathan Landis, despite a dire need to mature and hit the weights, seemed to run the offense the best, far better than Ray.
  
  * Winters has a ton of talent, but needs to add strength and weight
  
  * The team has great athletic ability, but cannot push the ball due to the aforementioned lack of point guard.
  
  * Wasson is amazing, but did not seem to have the spring in his step that I have heard about. Is he not 100%??? Still, far and away the best player, and one I am anxious to see at Malone!

  Stoike...I don't think anyone would disagree with that post. It's has been a very frustrating year to say the least. We were spoiled with Jake bolyard last season a guy that complimented wasson well and could drain 3s all night long.
  
  I am a Malone student soon to be grad and I think zach will do very well at Malone.

  Coach slaughter is an outstanding coach and an even better person who is a great role model for our kids. Oh yeah he was the coach that led is to the state championship last year in his first season.

  Dream on BNR, I liked coach Short as a person, but his style of trick zone defense no matter the personnel wasn't what what was wanted at this school. I thought Coach Short, no matter his past, was the right choice at the time we hired him. But that time is past and we've moved on and I suggest that you do also, because everyone here has his support, other than a few ostriches.

  That was coach shorts team! I'm no ones parent but getting beat over and over again and the coaching staff not making adjustments is funny to me, I'm not saying play different ppl but at least try different groups. We have to play zone orrvilles guards aren't athletic enough to man up on teams. No one questioned slys character just his coaching, u sound like a pal of his who can't admit his in game adjustments are wack!

  bnr if you read stoikes comments you will see what we have ( bigs ) or have not ( guards that can run an offense or provide outside shooting ) and thus we have no adjustments that can be made just looks like wack to you and hope someone might step up

  Bnr, i think we've made adjustment other than bringing up the two freshmen that would help. But I think they wouldn't make any more difference than what we have. It is what it is.

  Perhaps it's the selection of coaches for those teams that is the problem! One would question that from a town known for it's athletics.

  As I said at the start of the season, we have no one to replace the outside threat of Jake from last year, or the driving ability and picking up fouls, of course we also have no one to consistently go to the line and make shots, no playmakers to get the ball inside to the scorers.
