#KnownSecrets White people are still racist.

  • ZWICK 4 PREZ
That's cool, but I don't need to feel "less guilty" about it.. I admit that it's a fault of mine, but I also feel, from experience, everyone I know, black, white, asian, middle eastern... etc.. is a lil racist to an extent. Perhaps you aren't. I can guarantee u are in an extreme minority though.

I agree with almost your whole post. Except the above quoted part. There have been plenty of (qualified) caucasians who have not gotten a job because a company had to meet a "so-called" quota. Don't say that it's a lie, b/c it's not.

I know firsthand, that that is indeed truth.

why is it that when people mention racism it is alway's the white people that are the racist?
  • iclfan2
I have to agree with the camp that if black people don't like the N word they shouldn't throw it around so much.

I'd like to say I'm not cuz I have black friends, but I'm not gonna lie and say that I don't feel uncomfortable around certain black people and thats b/c of a racist stereotype in me. Same as I feel uncomfortable around certain Muslims .. there prolly isn't any real reason to, but it's ingrained in you. Everyone is racist or prejudiced to some extent. You can choose to lie about it if u want but u r.
I agree with zwick here, except for where he misspelled "you" and "you are."

True, and that's unfortunate. It's unfortunate all around, in some cases. I've been in situations where I've been the "token" minority interview candidate, with no REAL shot at getting the job, just to fill that quota, and I have seen minorities get hired, seemingly of course, simply to fill the quota on the other end of the spectrum.

That's something that really frustrates me, on both ends. It's a complete lose-lose, that makes little to no sense WHEN it's done. And then it brings credibility into question when a more qualified minority DOES get a job by his/her own merits.

    Racism
    1. A belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.
    2. Discrimination or prejudice based on race.

    Race
    1. A group of persons related by common descent or heredity.
    2. A population so related.
    3. A group of tribes or peoples forming an ethnic stock: the Slavic race.
    4. Any people united by common history, language, cultural traits, etc.: the Dutch race.
    5. The human race or family; humankind: Nuclear weapons pose a threat to the race.

I don't see skin color on there.

My last post... I posted that b/c of what zwick said. I think we all have at least minute (my-noot) forms of racist tendencies. Based on skin color? Maybe not, as Upper stated. Based on race itself, and the meaning of race? Yes, I believe that to be so, and anyone who says they honestly have none, I don't believe that one bit.

If you say you are not racist, then I will say that you have stereotypical thoughts about different races.

    Our history precedes us.

Another thing I don't like, and this stems from the original post by master Sage...

I've heard Chris Rock use the term "Cracker" in his comedy routine. Why is this OK? That is a serious question.

(Edit: I just realized the irony, with my avatar being a "redneck" looking fellow. A "cracker," if you will.)

Wrong!!! A persons thoughts, whether stereotypical or not, are their own thoughts. If you keep your thoughts to yourself and never discriminate, or make a discriminating comment. You arent a racist!!

If I think about robbing a bank, am I a bank robber? Or do I have to rob the bank?

If I sit and think about, and dream about, and wish to have sex with sheep, doesn't that make me a pervert, regardless of whether or not we play "just the tip?"

There's no "exactly" about it. We could throw out these arbitrary circumstances all night. If I do this, does this make me this, blah, blah, blah.

    See post about sheep sex.

You might be a fucked up in the head, but you're not guilty of bestiality.

Thinking racist thoughts makes you prejudiced.

Acting on those thoughts makes you a racist.

How exactly do u act on a prejudiced thought? If I see a Muslim on a plane and think.."i wonder if he's gonna hijack it" .. that's a prejudiced thought.. but how would I act on that thought? So I'm not racist if I think that?
