#KnownSecrets White people are still racist.

KeeperBeast1312OH WOW. I've read some of the most ignorant things on this thread. Everyone has prejudices. Everyone. It might not be against someone, rather something, but they're there. Everyone isn't racist, though.
As far as GoChiefs and the whole interracial relationship issue. What if your son brought home a girl that had a white dad and black mom? A lot of times, the father's pigment is the one that the child will have. We have a child at work whose skin color is white...but mom is black. Would that be ok since the girl would appear white? I was raised knowing that the idea of interracial relationships was wrong. Guess what?! I've been with a black man for 2 years now. Sure, my parents weren't necessarily pleased at first, but they knew that he was the person that made me happy and to them, that's all that matters. The skin color didn't matter. Now, he's like part of the family. It's a true shame you can't be open-minded enough to realize that what you are basing your decision on is just a rationalization for other issues you have. I work with many biracial kids. They don't get made fun of. No one looks at them differently. They are actually pretty popular amongst their peers. The real issue isn't with the comments, etc biracial children might face, it's from parents like you that raise your children to think it is wrong. That's where the comments and negative treatment comes from. Raise your kids to be accepting of everyone, and it wouldn't be an issue. As far as biracial children growing up and struggling with their identity, again, it's parenting. My SO and I have already said that if/when we have a child, it will be raised knowing BOTH cultures.
And your adoption arguement is just sickening. Absolutely sickening. -

WeAreNCIs it possible that blacks are racist agaisnt other blacks? this is taken from http://www.killbobc.org/ which stands for kill black on black crime.
The statistics tell a tragic story. According to federal crime figures, homicide is the leading cause of death among African-American males aged 15 to 34. They also indicate that between 1976 and 2004, 94 percent of black murder victims were killed by black offenders. Wow 94%. Hell I don't mind if someone hates me as long as they don't shoot me -

I'm going to be honest here, I haven't read EVERY post here on this thread, but the ones I have read are really starting to piss me off. Maybe I'm missing something here, and if I am, please fill me in, and I'll say I'm sorry for intruding and move on, but it looks like this is another vehicle for slamming on the white man. I started a thread last night simply asking who was more racist, whites or blacks, I am not racist and I have nothing against black people, I hate shitty black people just like I hate shitty white people. I wouldn't have even thought about the subject if I hadn't seen THIS stupid fucking thread, (one of many stupid fucking threads started by Sage). But....my thread got yanked as soon as it looked like it wasn't going to be another "white man slamfest". I say either let everyone have their say, or don't let anyone, it's that simple. I'm starting to get pissed off being lumped in with racist pigs just because I'm white. -

i dont judge anyone as far as being racist untill i meet them.....i grew up in a town with 99 percent white people in a very rural area, i was the only person of color for many years in my school district...yes it was rough at times, but mostly i made many lifelong friends who treated me like anyone else. i will say that that i have experienced prejudice and name calling in many situations but i really never let it get to me..skank wrote:

when i went to college i went to a predominantly white dIII school where pretty much the only blacks were on the football team and probably was only 15 total at the school. i cant remember anything racial really happening during my four years there. exept when i dated this girl and i went to meet her parents in Parma oh.
since moving to columbus i would say that it is a very friendly place to live for a person who is biracial and mostly has dated white girls. although at times things come up. for example i was in the BW3 parking lot on bethel a few months back and i was leaning up against my car hugging this girl i was dating at the time goodbye it was around 2am. and this car rolled by and rolled down the window and called the girl a niggerlover...it did upset me a little...
i guess my point is that racisim is a learned behavior that is in all colors mostly depending on where your from...i dated a girl from parma ohio and i would say ill never go back there....EVER. i had some people in my own family who werent keen on my mom and dad especially since my mom got pregnant with me at 17 and this was in like 72. now they have 6 kids natural and adopted 4 more and have been together for 37 happy years. so i dont think white people are racist at all, but this thread and my life experriences tell me that there are still many out there. but i dont judge them or hate them i just want them to learn and become more educated and actually meet and spend time with people of other races and see that really people are all just people good and bad. wow this is way to long...probly wil get a cool story bro or two lol. -
skankWon't get a cool story bro from me, I understand. But at the same time, I'm sure there were plenty of black people who were pissed that you were dating a white girl, why can't we talk about them without being called racists?
-

honestly i dont know a lot of black people who are racist...or maybe they are smart enough not to say it around me....some maybe have cracked jokes and i have been called oreo, or such but in a joking way. i teach in the inner city and kids will say "why do you talk white", or alot of my friends might tease me for dating all white girls but it has always been in fun.skank wrote: Won't get a cool story bro from me, I understand. But at the same time, I'm sure there were plenty of black people who were pissed that you were dating a white girl, why can't we talk about them without being called racists?
as far as black people being racist...i have seen it before i had a parent who i called about there child and i realized that she was teaching her children to never trust white people...that sucked because 90% of the kids teachers are white so you can guess how this kids life was going at school, but the lady really had a distrust/fear of whites....other parents have came to the school or called and will only talk to the black principal.....i have had parents come in to the school to call me racist until i walk into the meeting looking like mack 10 w my braids and they have to shut and and look at thier kid and be like your calling him racist?
so i know there are blacks who dont like whites....im not sure if their racist i think their just scared and they are going off of what they have been taught. the school i was at was in the first projects ever built in the US...most of these families dont have anyone in thier family graduate hs....they go all out for the jr high graduation because thats all they get sometimes. so i look at the level of education is what causes racism or prejudies...many of thiese studnets havent been around a white person hardly ever, just like rural or affluent whites probably dont go around many blacks...so you go off tv, or what older people tell you. and if you have a bad experience with your first meeting of someone else it could make those feelings feel justified.
i also feel their is a difference between prejudice and racism to be racist you have to have power...from a book i read once it made sense to me -
Mr PatNeed power to be racist? It sounds like the author is trying to justify a whole group of people's (doesn't matter the color) racism. "I can have racist thoughts and do whatever I want and not be racist because I don't have power!"
-
Gblock
wasnt meaning it like that...i just mean this whole thread should probably be titled about prejudice not racism and the definitions of those two words...i think prejudice is your beliefs and the racism part comes in with the actions, racism usually has a victim, where as if your prejudiced and you keep to yourself then its differnent things...this is a anonymous message board people saying what they believe but i dont think they say this in publicMr Pat wrote: Need power to be racist? What the hell makes you think it has anything to do with the 'pigment' of their skin? I don't care what the person LOOKS like. It's not about the skin color. If it was..THEN I'D BE A RACIST. So no..it still wouldn't be acceptable to me.KeeperBeast1312 wrote: As far as GoChiefs and the whole interracial relationship issue. Are you psychic or something? You have no idea how I raise my son...so don't pull this 'it's parents like you' bullshit. I don't push my ideas and views on my son. Well it's kind of hard to do that when her dad isn't around huh? Can I call bullshit on you? I'm pretty sure there have been 3+quotes by you stating that you don't agree with interracial dating. Thus making the "pigment" or skin color of a person matter. Thus making you care what the person looks like. Does this make you racist? Possibly...GoChiefs wrote: What the hell makes you think it has anything to do with the 'pigment' of their skin? Whether you want to admit it or not, you at least subconsciously let your feelings be know. Everyone does it through actions and words. You can call whatever you want. Doesn't matter. I know what I feel..I know what matters. And I know the color of the skin has absolutely nothing to do with it. Of course I don't agree with interracial dating. I'm pretty sure thats what this is all about. Is it not? But for you to say it's b/c of what the person 'looks' like..again..is bullshit. It has nothing to do with what the fuck a person looks like. How many times do I have to say this? If it was based on looks..then OBVIOUSLY I would be ok with it as long as he brought a girl home that LOOKED white right?bigkahuna wrote: Can I call bullshit on you? Obviously it does..to the ones that think OH NO..he doesn't believe in the same thing as me! He must be a racist!
Whether I want to admit it or not? I thought I've made it very clear what my thoughts on the subject were. If I didn't like black people. I'd say I don't like black people. How hard is it for you to get that through your head? How many more times must I repeat it? IF BLACK PEOPLE BOTHERED ME..I'D SAY THEY BOTHERED ME. I'D SAY I DIDN'T LIKE THEM. Care to show me where I've said that? No? You can't? Didn't think so. It's pretty obvious I let my opinions be known. If that was an opinion of mine..I'd sure as hell admit to it.bigkahuna wrote: Whether you want to admit it or not, you at least subconsciously let your feelings be know. Correct me of I'm wrong, but are you condoning black people being racist of white people because they are scared of white people and have been taught to be scared of white people? bigkahunaFor the record. i could really care less what you believe. That is 100% on you and God (If you're religious)
I understand your reasoning. You don't like interracial marriage because of the confusion it causes and you have seen it first hand. you have black friends and family members; GOOD FOR YOU!!
However, you don't want to see a black man/white woman (vice verse) hispanic/white, asian/black hispanic/asian..... You want to see hispanic/hispanic asian/asian white/white.
Explain to me PLEASE how the color of someone's skin DOES NOT factor into them being datable or not for YOU. Would it be okay of a White African and a White American dated/married? What if a black person was adopted and raised by white people and then married a white person? There is no "cultural" differences because they were raised in the same "white" setting.
Maybe I'm missing something. I understand you're against it because you're black/white niece is 9 with no father, and thus she has no idea about her "black" side. My father was from Shaker Heights and my mother from St. Marys. One was a Rich Cleveland Suburb, the other a Midwest Farm Town. My dad left before I was born, and I've never met him. Should different economic classes not date/marry ? Now, I don't know my other side, but maybe I would have, if my dad would have been from Midwestern OH as well. -

Straightsteal, Sage opened his mouth and stuck a whole can of racism whoop-ass in it. He should of taken a class on basic racism in general. I think he is a closet racist. But then most people are one way or another.Straightsteal wrote: Hate to break it to ya Sage, but there has been racism against whites. Have you ever heard of the Holocaust? It's unreal to me that you would mention hatred in one form and not acknowledge all other forms of hate! It shouldn't be tolerated in any form against any human being; color is not the relevant determining factor of hate!
It may also be of interest to you to know that the Europeans were not nearly as selective with their slaves as most believe. Scottish Highlanders were also brought to the new land as slaves. They were white! Open your eyes! Are you ok with the hate against homosexuals? It seems that we have excluded too many. Is it ok to hate one, but not the other? Until we see each other as all part of the human race and do not notice color of skin, religion, sexual orientation, etc. we will never be free!
There are tribes of people in South America and Africa who will kill members of their neighboring tribes just because they don't think the same way as they do.
Sage, it goes on and on. If it irritates you so much, go down to the Short North on High St. tomorrow night after midnight and talk to some of the teens to see if you can get them to change their ways on "racism"
I'm just using the Short North as an example. Go anywhere you want.
Anyway Sage, Good luck on your quest to stop racism in the world. I'm sure you can do it starting in your own backyard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Upper90haha, The Short North is a really odd example to use.
I live in the Short North, it's a pretty diverse/welcoming area. (Not to mention, after midnight, you'll mostly just find a few homeless guys hanging out around Skully's, depending on the night.)
Just tons of hipsters.
