What type of tipper are you?
-
Pick6People/places who try to get you to tip when you order takeout/get it to go are the worst. I never tip in that situation.
-
sleeperI only tip extremely well at places I eat at frequently. If the food is good, the service is good, and its in a location I frequent, 30% is pretty normal for me.
If I'm at a place where I know I won't be back, I'll typically give 10%. -
ts122715-20%, because fuck whoever drove the customary tip above 15% over the past 10 years

If we're doing a big order for the office, I'll usually tip. If it's just for me, I don't.Pick6;1222259 wrote:People/places who try to get you to tip when you order takeout/get it to go are the worst. I never tip in that situation. -
justincredibleWe tip well. Usually 20%+ unless the service is absolute crap.

namod65I agree with Raw Dawgin, I work with customers everyday. I have to deal with their bitching, stupid questions, and try to help them as best I can. I get no tips for any of it. It's not hard to write down an order and bring it out to the table. I hate how we are expected to tip. I also hate the bartenders who expect tips on every drink. I once had one who complained about not getting a tip. She was like, "oh we've been working all night and are trying to make money." Fuck you bitch, I've been working all day with no tips, and I can pour my own damn drink.

Calling my name for me to come get my food and pAy for it or walking in the front door and paying at a register isn't them bringing me my food.Raw Dawgin' it;1222392 wrote:What's the difference? they still brought you your food? -
Ironman92This thread is better than these same ones in past years.
It seemed like everyone was like....between 30-35%. if my bill was $30.49 I'd just give em 2 20's and have them keep the change. I never believed most people in their 20's did this.
Never understood tipping the person cutting your hair. Why not tip the person that fixed your car? Tip the dentist?
A question....I live in southern ass Ohio and there is a reason we get ridiculed! Lol I know the steakhouses, sit down pizza places, Bob Evans etc have horrible management, kitchen workers on parole and the waitresses just aren't very smart. Is this typical everywhere or just here in Podunk? The ones that give the effort are fine but the dumb pill heads that just make excuses for any problem and can't get a refill within 10 minutes of when you want it and take forever with the payment/bill.....ugh. That $43.37....keep the change on the $50, but not happy about it. -

Yes, but there was no continued service after that.Raw Dawgin' it;1222392 wrote:What's the difference? they still brought you your food? -
thePITmanI tip my barber $2 on a $12 haircut.
-
queencitybuckeyeThe carry out thing depends on who is doing the work. Waiters likely make sub-minimum wage and depend on tips for their living. If they have to handle carry out duties, I'll shoot a couple of bucks in their direction. More often than not, my carry out order is handled by a manager.

Pick6
It probably depends, but I feel service, for the most part, is shittier in the city than where I am from in SE Ohio. It varies restuarant to restuarant obviously, but I'd say overall worse.Ironman92;1222430 wrote:This thread is better than these same ones in past years.

mcburg93I will tip anywhere from 10-30% depending on how my service is. I don't tip my barber, mechanic, or buy my mailman a Christmas gift they make enough money.

Tiger2003How much do you guys tip a food delivery driver?
-
THE4RINGZTiger2003;1222470 wrote:How much do you guys tip a food delivery driver?
$2 unless it is a particularly large order. -
bigdaddy2003Tiger2003;1222470 wrote:How much do you guys tip a food delivery driver?
I used to deliver pizza and I remember how irritated I would get when I would drive somewhere only to be told to keep the change from 11 bucks on a 10.95 order so I generally give 3 to 4 bucks on a 20 dollar order. -
hasbeenlol @ you people who are comparing your salary job to a tip-based job. yeah, you deal with assholes all day and don't get tips, but you get a good hourly or a good salary. a server gets like $3 an hour. they rely on tips. now bartenders are different.
I tip 20% or more usually. -
FatHobbit
It's funny how that can change your perspective. (It's fairly obvious which posters have had jobs that depended on tips and which ones haven't)bigdaddy2003;1222476 wrote:I used to deliver pizza -
ts1227Tiger2003;1222470 wrote:How much do you guys tip a food delivery driver?
With pizza I generally pick it up because most deals are carryout only, and it saves you having to tip as well. Don't really order anything else that can be delivered
