What would get you to be more active on the OC?

  • sleeper
I've probably maxed out my activity level on these forums. I'm getting burn out.

Nah, there are others that are able and have a desire to lead an internet forum.

    I'm not one of them.

    I'm disappointed in you Con_Alma.

Well, it may not be the last time.

Only you can and will answer that. It will come from within.

In that case, it could be no one other than Con_Alma himself.

All this talk of spending money on advertising is not going to solve anything. You can advertise all you want, but if you don't have a good product to offer the people, you are wasting your money in the long run. I figure this site has a demographics of men between the ages of 22-35 but when you read most of the threads it seems like there is a bunch of 14 yr old kids posting on here. That may be cute or funny for a short time , but most people will just look at other sites when they want to have a real conversation. Maybe the Serious Business forum needs to have a sub forum for adult humor, that way people that are looking for a real conversation or have a real question don't have to weed through all the bullshit topics. The example would be someone asking about a vacation spot won't have to scroll through a shit load of question about someone wanting to know why their genitals are itching after going on a blind date with a midget hooker from Medina.

No one said that advertising will solve everything.

It was just something to help with traffic. More traffic could equal more participation. More traffic could equal more of the product.

Couple advertising with more traffic AND increased moderation, incentives, or whatever else may end up happening...and you have the "new" OC. Having a "new" OC without any MORE traffic won't really do much for the site itself. It needs to be advertising (free or paid) AND the other stuff.
  • sleeper
It really comes down to more traffic and people not being jackasses to the new members.

True, we do tend to be assholes to the new members. Also when we see new members, we all call bullshit and ask for an ip check. You can thank people like etb, snot, and gibby for ruining the initial trust for new members.

Gibby took it to a whole new level. My new id's only posted a couple times.

I don't post much because it's alot of the same, obnoxious style humor. Reminds me of a Family Guy episode. Same stupid, juvenile puns over and over again.

This is pretty much spot on. The advertising would be in addition to the improved product. Not instead.

I would probably participate more if there wasn't so much "hating" going on. LOL, Especially directly at me on a HS football thread title! ;)

    Spot on!

Additionally, if you do ask a serious question about vacation, restaurant...etc, you are usually either helped sincerely or bombarded with smartass comments

Really no one misses you. For the life of me, why don't you just step down as a moderator? Is the obsession of "power" so great that you have to be a ghost for the past year and a half to only come back and say you don't post anymore? Gosh a ruddies.

Although to be fair, you're not as bad as Zambrown. I've never seen her post, ever, for any reason.

Isn't every message board filled with their own obnoxious humor, inside jokes, and puns?
