What would get you to be more active on the OC?

  • fan_from_texas
Activity begets activity, I think. We need more threads, and especially more interesting threads, to get more people to post (which in turn gives more interesting threads--network effects and all). The trick is figuring out how to get more people to start interesting threads, especially since what's interesting to one person may not be to others.

How about combining some of the forums? Bringing more content back into one central area? Splitting things off topically means that some things that are tangentially interesting to a larger group get kicked out of circulation.

I really only come here for a couple threads or if I'm bored because there are to many pointless posts in each thread. I don't wanna read 25 posts for the 7-8 good ones. If your not a fan of the buckeyes browns reds or Indians you might as well not try to start a topic about your team bc it will be filled with bs. Even a bengals thread is filled mostly with browns fans saying you can't sell tickets blah blah blah
Jordo claimed we "ran amok" in bengals threads, but I still haven't seen proof of that.

It's no different then idiots coming into cleveland threads and throwing out their passive agressive trolling.

There is some enforcement but it seems if anyone is doing it it is you justin. I know it dont help when people do get infracted warnings there is an attack on the mod that does it. I usually keep all of my bullshit to the basement. I do venture out to other forums but dont post cause of personal attacks. I have noticed in the prosports and some college threads have somewhat started following the rules. Still a ways to go imo. I think once all of that is under control people will post more.

I agree with this. How about combining college sports with pro sports, or would that be too much?

    Name them then.

Would for me, I prefer the separate forums.

Maybe combine college basketball and college football in to one? I do think combining all of them and pro sports in to one would be too much.

At least combine all college sports together. Does Bball and Fball really need to be seperated? Maybe you can provide a link to the College fball forum on top of the pro sports forum too (like we have for fantasy sports).

That's not a bad idea, esp since majority of their season doesn't overlap. Then have a sticky thread for OSU or any other OC popular team at the top.

I see thread banning being used much, much more going forward.

If someone that can do something about it is interested, I'll be happy to list them. Otherwise, it would just start/perpetuate the pissing matches that are killing any potential growth.

There is the basement; where pissing matches go to start but never go to end.

I agree that there are a few posters that I wish would go away (no, I'm not listing them) but it's not always that easy. It's so ridiculously easy to create a new username from a different IP address that you can never just get rid of someone permanently.

Skyhook is not smart enough to create another username.

As a bengals fan I went other places to post because of all the browns fans posting in Bengal threads. Every thread would have the same end result browns fan arguing they were better fans because they sell tickets and bengals have blackouts. I would agree with Jordo that browns fans did run amok on bengals threads.

The pictures of scantily clad girls in almost every thread needs to stop, makes me not able to browse at school or when anyone is around because it looks like I'm looking at porn or some shit.

Those posts are cool and all but really should be kept in nsfw threads.

/ a pain in the ass. Perhaps if they get a warning they have to go back to their email and click a link like you have to when you register. That would eliminate 10 min email type sites.

Yeah, getting a new IP/email is easy. This isn't a bad idea, but would take some work to implement (I think). There are a lot of members using throw away emails.
