I know, I haven't drafted well in the running back department in any draft this season even though I expect MJD to return to the usual MJD. I didn't know that about Ridley. So who will be their starter?Dr. KnOiTaLL;1647832 wrote:Running backs leave a lot to be desired. There's even been talk that Ridley doesn't make the final 53 man roster in New England. Not that I think that's an accurate assumption, but it's a scary thought given your roster. -

Overall not bad, with the new rules I worry about your WRs but your RBs are good and when other teams are scrambling for a RB in a few weeks, as they always are in 12+ team leagues, you could turn 1 RB into two solid WRs.Dr. KnOiTaLL;1647833 wrote:Thoughts on the squad, anyone? Solid for a 12-team?
Your WR1 is playing behind Marshall. I love Jeffrey as a top tier WR2, but I like my WR1 to be the #1 on his team. VJax is a decent WR2 but you have no one worth playing after that and that worries me with the new "don't look at the wr too long or it is a penalty". -

Vereen with Bolden getting regular touches as well, evidently.bigdaddy2003;1647842 wrote:I know, I haven't drafted well in the running back department in any draft this season even though I expect MJD to return to the usual MJD. I didn't know that about Ridley. So who will be their starter?
This is from Rotoworld:
Stevan Ridley - RB - Patriots
ESPN Boston does not have Stevan Ridley making the 53-man roster in their latest projection.
We'd be stunned if Ridley gets cut, as he's clearly the team's best inside running option provided he doesn't fumble. But the projection comes from ace beat man Mike Reiss, who is not prone to hyperbole. Ridley played just 11 snaps in Friday night's third preseason game, and did lose a fumble in the second preseason game. Reiss has the Patriots keeping four running backs on the active roster (Shane Vereen, James White, Brandon Bolden, Jonas Gray) and one on the practice squad (Roy Finch).

I agree. These reasons are partially why I took a flyer on Gordon in the 12th round. I figure, if he plays, he's a steal there. If he doesn't, not a huge loss.jmog;1647844 wrote:Overall not bad, with the new rules I worry about your WRs but your RBs are good and when other teams are scrambling for a RB in a few weeks, as they always are in 12+ team leagues, you could turn 1 RB into two solid WRs.

My hope was to grab Julio in round 2, but having to wait all the way until the last pick of the round was painful, and Julio went the pick just before me. I picked Lacy at 5th overall, and by the time it got back to me at pick #24 overall, Calvin, Demaryius, Dez, Green, Marshall, Nelson, and Julio were all gone. Kind of a bummer. I probably should've grabbed Antonio Brown, but I was hoping I could get him where I picked VJax at the 7th pick in the 3rd round.
Oh well, overall I can't complain a lot. I've definitely got some depth and upside at RB. Hopefully, I can turn one of those guys into a WR before too long. -

Well damn. Thanks for posting that. I guess I need to start looking for his replacement.Dr. KnOiTaLL;1647847 wrote:Vereen with Bolden getting regular touches as well, evidently.

Laley23Ridley, even if he does make the roster, is 1 fumble away from fucking you. Last year. he would start, get 4 carries and fumble the 5th, then sit the next 3.5 quarters and get .2 FP...It is maddening.

That's better than some of my 12 team league teams, which not sure if that's better for you or worse for me, lol. In a 14 team league though I'd think that should be a top 3 team at least.Laley23;1647858 wrote:So, just finished my 14-teamer...non-PPR (QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, RB/WR, TE)

The decision to wait on a QB and TE REALLY helped me out. Allowed me to snag both Hilton and Sanders in 4th/5th and not reach for someone like Andrew Luck (as well as give me 3 solid starters so I could reach a little early for Josh Gordon). So happy to get Sanders in the 5th, he should be awesome, especially if Welker is done...Also thrilled to get Romo as late as I did.Terry_Tate;1647937 wrote:That's better than some of my 12 team league teams, which not sure if that's better for you or worse for me, lol. slingshot4everI just dropped Josh Gordon and picked up Kelvin Benjamin in a 12 team league.
-
lhslep134I was not pleased in my draft. I didn't really have a choice but to take Brees in the 2nd and I really wanted to wait on a QB.
QB
(2)Drew Brees. Best available were: Doug Martin, Antonio Brown, Jordy Nelson
RB
(1) McCoy: keeper at 6
(5) Rashad Jennings
(8) Ben Tate
(9) Lamar Miller
(11) Carlos Hyde
(13) Devonta Freeman
WR
(3) Vincent Jackson
(4) Cordarrelle Patterson
(6) Mike Wallace
(10) Kelvin Benjamin
(12) Justin Hunter
TE
(7) Kyle Rudolph -
CCRollyI'm still holding on to Gordon in one of my leagues, in case him and his legal team file an injunction against the NFL.

I think I would have gone Jordy with your 2nd over Brees, but that would be a tough/close one. If Jordy was there and then you got a QB like Romo/Ryan/Cutler late instead of a guy like Ben Tate, I would like your WRs/RBs probably a lot better (you might not have gone WR/WR with 3/4 if you had Jordy and gone WR/RB).lhslep134;1648227 wrote:I was not pleased in my draft. That lineup and depth is exactly why I don't like taking Manning/Rodgers/Brees in the first rounds.
Don't get me wrong, Brees won me the championship 2 years ago, but I traded for him later in the season for a WR/RB combo that were on my bench but doing quite well.
Overall I think your team will do fine, but bye weeks will really hurt as I don't think you have depth at RB or WR. I like Cordarrelle as a WR2 (too many people are drafting him as a WR1 this year, they could be severely disappointed). VJax is a good WR2 as well, but you weren't going to get a WR1 with McCoy and Brees as your first 2 rounds.
Your RBs, obviously McCoy is great, but having to take Brees in rd 2 forced your hand at WR in 3/4 and after McCoy you have nothing at RB. Jennings/Tate/Miller are in that "hope" they do well this year and worth a start, Hyde would be a great option IF Gore ever gets hurt. Don't get me wrong, you got good value out of Jennings and Tate (they typically go earlier than when you got them), but I'd love to have 1 guy better than both, than both of these guys (like a Giovanni, Foster, Ellington, etc...1 of those rather than both of these 2).
You really need Brees to have one of his 45+ TD seasons to go far this year. Or, at least have a GREAT couple first weeks and trade him for a QB and RB .
There is nothing you reached on really, no one you drafted out of place, but just the early QB hurt your depth at RB and WR. -
lhslep134I went with the boom or bust strategy after Brees forced my hand. I like Jordy a lot but he was just one of 8 tier 2 guys still on the board. Both of my WRs are Tier 2 in my rankings.
Then after Jennings, who is a bell cow back especially in PPR, I said F it and just grabbed high variance players. Wallace, Miller, Benjamin, Tate could all suck or all breakout. -
Dr. KnOiTaLLYou guys think there's any chance Gordon sues the NFL, in which case he would be allowed to play? I know on the Browns thread a couple weeks ago, an attorney posted a long post about legal proceedings in a scenario where Gordon might have a shot. Do you think this is realistic or is the case closed period?
-
Laley23He could and would probably have a decent shot. But who knows how long the process would take. If he played in 3 games while it's going on, then losses, he essentially got 3 games out of it now but won't be available till week 4 next year...
-
Dr. KnOiTaLLI need to add another WR now that Gordon is banned for the year. I took a flyer on him in the 12th hoping he'd be around, but now that he's not going to be, I could use a sleeper target.
Amendola, Marvin Jones, Dobson, Miles Austin, Andrew Hawkins, and Marqise Lee are about the best available. Thoughts or other ideas? -
Laley23I'd take a flier on Cody Lattimer. If Welker is out, he could turn into their slot/#3 really fast. Already is established in all the Broncos red zone packages.
-
TunechiIs Darren Sproles getting drafted in any drafts? I noticed he was on the Eagles and thought that would be interested with the amount of plays they try to run on offense. I could see him get 50+ catches if they utilize him right.
-
bigdaddy2003ESPN has him ranked real low with like 200 yards for the whole season. I really can't see that myself.
-
Laley23I'm not touching him or McCoy (relatively speaking). I wouldn't take McCoy before 5 or Sproles at all for fear each will steal catches, yards, touches and touchdowns from the other.
Don't have that issue with the other 4 RBs in the top 5.
