My league is huge on TEs, TEs are a VERY viable flex (typically about 4-6 of the 10 teams start 2 TEs). We will typically see 23-25 TEs drafted.Terry_Tate;1645357 wrote:Who is everybody looking at for late round steals? I'm in all auction leagues so for me it's $1 or $2 players, but I am liking Jordan Matthews for PPR leagues. Watched the Chiefs last night and not totally sure of their TE spot but Travis Kelce looks like he could be a nice backup TE if he gets some playing time. Carlos Hyde obviously because I think he's going to be a stud. Don't really have any other thoughts this early as my drafts start this Sunday.
Different category but feel like Jeremy Maclin is somebody who isn't getting a lot of love right now but could be a top tier WR fantasy wise as well due to the Eagles offense.
I am STILL hoping no one notices Kelce and I can get him LATE, then that would be a great keeper for next year.
I am hoping he is still listed as the backup by this Satuday (our draft) and then gets moved past Fasano by game #1. He is a freak of a TE and I think he would have became the starter last season if not for his injury.
I've obviously stated a few times how undervalued I think Cutler is this season.
I think A. Foster is going to have a comeback season now especially with Tate gone, top 5 or 6 RB and is going like a RB2.
My biggest "undervalued" WR has got to be Michael Floyd, going like a WR3 (adp around 27) but I truly believe he will score MORE than Fitzgerald this year out in ARI. He came on big late last year making Fitzgerald's numbers drop, and this is his 3rd season. I am hoping to pick him up around rd 8 or 9 as a keeper for next year (our keepers have to be rd 6 or later).
I see Cordarrelle Patterson in the same boat as Floyd but just doesn't have as good a QB throwing to him. I actually have him ranked higher than Floyd right now and Patterson in a higher tier (tier 4 vs 5) but if I had to pick one, I might go with Floyd....but my brain wouldn't do it (I'd go with the tier 4 guy).
I'm not big on TY Hilton this year, but T. Williams in DAL could surprise people, with the coverage that Dez and Witten will see, Williams could have a breakout year.
I have Williams above Hopkins only because of the QB throwing to each of them, HOU's QB situation is actually worse than the Browns...which is sad.
TE wise I see Kelce as the deep sleeper like I said above.
Ertz could be real good in the Kelly offense, but I am really hoping to get Rudolph since I plan on going RB/WR early and missing on most of the top 5 or 6 TEs. I think Rudolph has his breakout year this year especially if Bridgewater starts, a rookie needs their safety blanket/check down. -

Foles is going as a top 7 QB in most leagues but yet Maclin and Cooper are nowhere to be found. The balls have to go to somebody. Maclin is a super talent but also a huge question mark coming back, having not played a down since 2012. 2009-2012, he played 15, 16 13, 15 games so it's not like is necessarily prone to injuries.Terry_Tate;1645357 wrote:Who is everybody looking at for late round steals? Matthews will start as their #3 but it wouldn't surprise me to see him take over as Foles 2nd option. Statistically, the greatest WR in SEC history, he seems to be picking up the offense and all the quotes from Chipper are very positive about him. I think he is more talented than Cooper.
I like Williams but I don't see him as being a sleeper. He seems to be pretty hyped and trendy right now. He went in the 7th in my draft last Saturday, I don't know if he will be a guy Terry can pickup for a dollar.slingshot4ever;1645544 wrote:^^^

The biggest reason the Eagle WRs are so low is because no one knows who will emerge as the #1 target. You have Maclin, Cooper, Matthews, McCoy, Ertz, and Celek.TBone14;1645614 wrote:Foles is going as a top 7 QB in most leagues but yet Maclin and Cooper are nowhere to be found. I have all 3 of the WRs ranked between 32 and 55 on my WR list. I think Matthews is the lowest right now due to being a rookie but has the most upside. He maybe the 1 I target late in the draft. He reminds me of a Josh Gordon, tall WR with a 'low' 40 time but really is fast and does have good ball skills in the air. -
TBone14
I got him late in one draft. The other guy in a similar situation is Kelvin Benjamin. However, Benjamin end up the #1 very quick. He only has to compete with Cotchery and Avant. I like Benjamin as a late pick, as well.jmog;1645674 wrote:The biggest reason the Eagle WRs are so low is because no one knows who will emerge as the #1 target. Laley23Fuck PMs, we can just post the tiers on here.
Unless we are in leagues vs each other (I am not going to be in a OC league this year), why not help each other out?? -

I don't mind doing that, but I can't speak for anyone else. I'll post mine tomorrow night, I'm traveling back to Ohio tomorrow.Laley23;1645789 wrote: why not help each other out?? -
TBone14Mine are in an Excel sheet with different tabs for each position. Not sure how I could post it here without it being extremely long. I will try one position in a little bit and see how it comes out. I have some actual work to do this AM. Hard to focus. I have the auction in my biggest league tonight at 5. All the prep is done but I am ready start drinking and do it. The commish of the league owns a bar so we have a big auction party at his bar. It is a blast.
-
Laley23I'll try to get mine up on Monday when I'm back home.

TBone14My auction is tonight. I co-manage the team with a buddy. $400 entry fee. 12 teams.
Different format. You have 100 'dollars' to spend to fill 10 positions. After 10 rounds of auctions, there is a quick 6 round snake draft to fill out the rosters.
We kept Shane Vereen and Jordy Nelson for 10 each so we have 80 to spend on 8 players.
Many of the elite QBs have been retained so our plan is to go cheap on QB. Targeting Cutler as our starter. He won't go for more than 5. We will heavy in the bidding for Charles. If not, we will try for Shady or Peterson. We think we can get a Tier 1 RB and WR. Charles/Marshall is the goal. Calvin, Dez and Thomas will go for much more than we would want to spend but Marshall/Julio/Green/Brown should be obtainable for around 20. WR is deep as not many could be retained (1 year keeper rule) so almost all are available.
We plan on spending around 75 for our main 5. Cutler/Charles/Vereen/Marshall/Nelson is if the plan comes together. Then spend another 10-15 chunk on another WR for the flex (PPR). That could be a guy like Edelman, Cruz, Welker, Wright, Allen. We will be looking at PPR guys like Joique Bell, Pierre Thomas as another RB option and maybe Chris Johnson our our RB3 and 4.
The roster spots are set...so you always have to have 2 QBs, 4 RBs, 4 WRs, 2 TEs, 2 K, 2 DEF...etc. So there is no loading up on RBs or anything. -
Dr. KnOiTaLLLeVeon Bell and LeGarrette Blount arrested with 20 grams of weed and Bell also booked for a DUI.

Auction over. The only thing you can be certain of in this crazy game is that nothing ever goes exactly how you predict and if you have an idea...Somebody else in your league probably has the same idea.TBone14;1646040 wrote:My auction is tonight. So how'd it end up?! Let's see the results!TBone14;1646225 wrote:Auction over. The only thing you can be certain of in this crazy game is that nothing ever goes exactly how you predict and if you have an idea...Somebody else in your league probably has the same idea. -

Yeah I'm starting to get worried about my "wait on a QB" stragety seems like 4 of my friends I've been talking to all has the same idea I do. Should be interesting to see what actually happens on Saturday.TBone14;1646225 wrote:Auction over. Let me set it up a bit. This league you can keep anywhere from 0-2 players for the amount they were auctioned for the previous. 1 year keepers, after that...back in the pool. So the only WRs retained were Jordy (my team) and Garcon. 5 teams were retaining QBs (Manning, Stafford, Luck, Romo, Brees) so only 7 guys needed QBs. Our plan was to get Cutler cheap as our QB1 and with Rodgers, Ryan, Brady, Newton, Kaep, Foles, RG3 all on the board...we figured just let the other 11 teams have thier QB and we could pick off Cutler. Nobody is spending precious auction money on 2 QBs when you can only play one.Iliketurtles;1646287 wrote:Yeah I'm starting to get worried about my "wait on a QB" stragety seems like 4 of my friends I've been talking to all has the same idea I do. Well, Rodgers, Ryan, Brady, Foles, RG3 all went off the board like planned so that left us and one other team without a QB. I looked at my buddy and said, "They have the same exact plan as us. They want Cutler." So we got into a bidding war for Cutler and won him for 10 bucks. In contrast, Newton ended up going for 5.
As RB, we had Vereen in the bag. The first auction was Peterson. He went for 30. Next up was Charles who we wanted. We got him for 31. I don't have all the results in front of me right now but at least 3 more guys went for more than him later on as people became desperate for studs. McCoy went for 35. Calvin for 34. Dez for 33. Thomas also went for 31. Since nobody had WRs, everybody was buyers on them. We thought that since there were so many out there, we would have options on getting a Tier 1 WR as well. It wasn't happening, they were going for so much. We wanted Marshall, he went for 28. Antonio Brown for 25. We just kept waiting and eventually picked off Jeffery for 16.
Kind of messed up at TE. We picked off Jordan Reed for 3 bucks. We ended up later getting Kyle Rudolph for 4 bucks trying to bid up two guys who didn't have a TE yet. Ended up with him. I like that combo and the ability to play matchups. But they have the same bye week.
After we won Rudolph we tried to get out of the lead and nominated Devonta Freeman for a dollar and nobody else bid and we won him. We picked off Percy Harvin later for 6 bucks.
We missed out on two guys we wanted as our 4th RB and WR. Pierre Thomas and Kelvin Benjamin.
Our starting lineup will look like this:
Cutler
Charles
Vereen
Nelson
Jeffery
Reed/Rudolph
Harvin
K
DEF
Bench:
Big Ben
Freeman
Deangelo Williams- drafted him in the 13th or 14th round. It was slim pickings at that point.
Rueben Randle- late draft
Reed/Rudloph
K
DEF
I honestly don't remember who our 2 kickers and Def's are. It was late and I was wasted and I don't have the papers. It's not an elite defense and Matt Bryant rings a bell.
I am not mad about how the team turned out. We could have been a little better in retrospect but hindsight is always 20/20. -
ZWICK 4 PREZSomeone explain this tier system to me. Obviously you want a top tier guy but how does it affect your drafting strategy? Say you have a WR and a RB and you could use both and theyre both a tier2 guy.. how do you decide who to take or is it inconsequential?
-
bases_loadedYou look at your depth, depth at that tier, projected points, etc.
-
ZWICK 4 PREZso would you always take a tier 2 WR over a tier 3 RB or not if you need a RB and b/c WR are more depth.
-
jmog
I look at how many players in that tier are still available vs same tier at other positions. For instance (this is bland and assuming I can use any position still) if only 2 RB are left in tier 2 and 7 WR are left in tier 2 I pass on the WRs and pick a RB.ZWICK 4 PREZ;1646338 wrote:so would you always take a tier 2 WR over a tier 3 RB or not if you need a RB and b/c WR are more depth.
oh, and I set up my tiers where a tier 2 RB is equal to a tier 2 WR points wise. So there maybe a ton of tier 2 WRs and only 1 tier 2 TE in a standard league. -
Laley23I use tiers so I dont outthink myself on draft day, as well as for what jmog just said.
You want to just be able to say this tier is running low, Im grabbing someone. But you also want to be able to force yourself to stick to your tiers even if someone you hate is the only one left or someone you thought you could get later in the draft looks like he might go earlier. -
ZWICK 4 PREZI tried the tier method tonight ... I have the worst team I've ever had lol
-
jmog
Then you probably didn't do the tier system right, or you THINK you have a bad team because you have some internal bias against certain players on your team (even though they were in the same tier as players you liked).ZWICK 4 PREZ;1646744 wrote:I tried the tier method tonight ... The first year I did tiers I hated my team after the draft, by the end of the season I had finished 2nd in the league, the next 4 years I have finished no worst than 3rd and won it twice. -
jmogWith Gordon still an unknown where do you place him among WRs? I see many analysts saying about the 35-40th WR. Basically waiting until it is like taking a flier.
My draft is today and wanted to get an opinion. -
GOONx19Yeah, I'm curious about Gordon too. There's only 2 Browns fans in my draft, but I'm worried I've convinced everyone he won't be suspended very long. I should've been keeping my mouth shut the past month. Draft is Wednesday.
-
IliketurtlesMy draft is today as well. Gordon for me if he is there in the 10-12 round range I'll take a filer on him. I have a feeling he is going to go in the 8th or 9th round though.
