The National Anthem
-
Dr Winston O'BoogieI really think these protests show what's great about this country. There are lots of places in the world where people wouldn't even dream of showing any sign of protest toward the state. The fact that anyone here can do it if they see fit is awesome. I don't have to agree with their reason or method. Unless they are hurting someone in the process, I think protest shows the best part of our freedom. In my opinion, our troops don't fight for a flag, they fight for our nation and each other. Our nation is all of us giving each other the freedom to live our lives and pursue our dreams. Since it is made up of human beings, there are imperfections about it. If one of us sees fit to protest these imperfections, then that shows the whole thing is working as designed.
I am not saying people who disagree with the NFL players are Nazis, my caveat before I make my next point.
I read a lot about the Third Reich. I find many facets of the story fascinating. The most fascinating thing to me is how a sophisticated nation found itself pulled into a totalitarian system. Imagining life there is always a way for me to feel gratitude for what we have here. The thing that was crushed more than anything else was individual thought. You simply did not disagree with the regime under any circumstances. One way of showing that you towed the line was by giving all of the public respect to the flag, the marches, the songs, etc. Failure to give the salute to the flag was synonymous with crime.
We are not Nazi Germany. My point though is that our great freedoms require us to tolerate descent within our society. We can vehemently disagree. But those showing descent are not "unpatriotic" in my opinion. They are exercising the very rights our country was established to protect.

GQ did it so people would talk about it, and it worked.ptown_trojans_1;1881574 wrote:I saw that, what a fucking joke.
Since when did anyone give a flying fuck about GQ? -

It's dissent, not descent. -

I don't care for Britt McHenry but she had a great point on Twitter yesterday. JJ Watt raised like >$30 million for hurricane Harvey relief, and some guy who kneeled LAST year is man of this year? -
AutomatikCitizen of the Year for a magazine that also features Justin Bieber on the cover regularly and tells you what boat shoes are "in this season."
Again, who gives a flying fuck. -

Thanks. Why not call it "descent" dissent as opposed to "indecent" dissent.QuakerOats;1881659 wrote:It's dissent, not descent. -
QuakerOatsindecent dissent could work
-
O-TrapWhat about an indecent descent into dissent?
-
QuakerOatsCould work.
Obviously the NFL is in descent over all this. -

No, remember ... We're ignoring the NFL, so no need to talk about them.QuakerOats;1881931 wrote:Could work.

QuakerOatsWe can certainly talk about the NFL and in particular the ill-mannered, ignorant, and disrespectful players; we just will not watch or listen to any games, or support them in any way. Nothing has changed. And the 5 hours of yard work Sunday, without interruption, was definitely positive.

QuakerOatsA Baltimore police officer was pronounced dead Thursday after being shot Wednesday. The manhunt for the killer continues.

Will the Ravens be taking a knee Sunday for this injustice? -

Thanks Herschel.
Another good Sunday without NFL action: another 3 hours of yard work, and getting the house ready for Thanksgiving festivities. -
gutLMAO....99% of America has moved on from this, and QO is still posting in a thread about the NFL about how he doesn't care about the NFL.

QuakerOatsObviously you are quite wrong about the 99%.
