No. It isn't. Theoretically? Sure, but not functionally.

Q: How prepared is the U.S. Government to deal with (inaudible)?
A: I think we have to really intensify our efforts. That's the reason for the Nunn/Lugar II program. That's the reason why it's a local responsibility, as such, but the Department of Defense is going to be taking the lead as far as supervising the interagency working groups, and to make the assessments as to what needs to be done. So we're going to identify those 120 cities and work with them very closely to make sure that they can prepare themselves for what is likely to be a threat well into the future.
Q: Let me ask you specifically about last week's scare here in Washington, and what we might have learned from how prepared we are to deal with that (inaudible), at B'nai Brith.
A: Well, it points out the nature of the threat. It turned out to be a false threat under the circumstances. But as we've learned in the intelligence community, we had something called -- and we have James Woolsey here to perhaps even address this question about phantom moles. The mere fear that there is a mole within an agency can set off a chain reaction and a hunt for that particular mole which can paralyze the agency for weeks and months and years even, in a search. The same thing is true about just the false scare of a threat of using some kind of a chemical weapon or a biological one. There are some reports, for example, that some countries have been trying to construct something like an Ebola Virus, and that would be a very dangerous phenomenon, to say the least. Alvin Toeffler has written about this in terms of some scientists in their laboratories trying to devise certain types of pathogens that would be ethnic specific so that they could just eliminate certain ethnic groups and races; and others are designing some sort of engineering, some sort of insects that can destroy specific crops. Others are engaging even in an eco- type of terrorism whereby they can alter the climate, set off earthquakes, volcanoes remotely through the use of electromagnetic waves.
So there are plenty of ingenious minds out there that are at work finding ways in which they can wreak terror upon other nations. It's real, and that's the reason why we have to intensify our efforts, and that's why this is so important.

Good lord. Did you read the actual transcript? He's referencing Toeffler's War and Anti-War.

"Alvin Toeffler has written about this in terms of some scientists in their laboratories trying to devise certain types of pathogens that would be ethnic specific [...] and others are designing [...] some sort of insects that can destroy specific crops."

He's not saying people have learned how to engage in weather warfare.

Government is corrupt. However, government is comprised of people. People are individuals. Enough people make keeping secrets unlikely.

    I don't doubt government's corruption. I doubt its competence.

Gosh a ruddies, what does the highest ranking member of the Cabinet Secretary of State Rex Tillerson think of our President?
"When asked specifically if he had called the president a moron, Tillerson did not deny it, saying, “I’m not going to deal with petty stuff like that.”After Tillerson’s statement, CNN said it had confirmed through its own sources the “moron” remark, and MSNBC reporter Stephanie Rule elaborated that the exact phrase Tillerson used was “f***ing moron.”

    Fake news

[h=2]Trump thunders at ‘#FakeNews’ NBC as Tillerson slams report he called president a 'moron'[/h]The secretary of state and the president teamed up Wednesday to blast a news report saying the two were at odds, with the top diplomat denying he considered resigning – and the president calling on the network to apologize.

At some point you might learn.

  • ptown_trojans_1
The only fake part of the story was the thought that Tillerson was going to resign. (It's not Friday and we all know people in the Trump Administration resign on a Friday.)
But, the SECSTATE did not refute the comment that he called the President a moron. He only did the whole, I'm not going to discuss that move, which is a nice non-denial to the story.

On a larger point, Trump basically kneecapped his SECSTATE on his North Korea policy last week.

“NBC News cites three unnamed “officials…..

NBC identifies them as “three officials who were present or briefed on the incident,” so it is not clear if any of them actually heard Tillerson’s alleged outburst or knows what he was talking about when he dropped the insult.”

Again, fake news. Especially after watching the entire 6:13 live briefing given today by Mr. Tillerson. You should actually spend some time listening, and learning.

I don't know if this is true or not. It's not something that would necessarily surprise me for Tillerson to say.

However, especially at this stage, I DO believe false narratives are intentionally leaked for the continued discrediting of the media. ONE WAY to manage leaks is to establish a lack of credibility so anything can be dismissed as fake news.

and why can't a Trump supporter admit the truth

Ironically, everything Trump says ends up being true down the road, when the facts ultimately come out.

The trend for the media is laughable.

    His wiretapping tweet?
    No fucking way.
Manifort was under surveillance because he was meeting with Russian officials. Trump was never under direct wiretapping as he suggested.
  • QuakerOats
He was surveilled; wiretapping is but one form of surveillance. You can say wiretapped, which can mean various forms of surveillance. It happened, and the further we go, the more severe we will find it to be.

He can't do it. It would never fly. I don't know why he jaws off in the way that he does. I can only guess that he loves to yank their chain, like he has nothing else better to do /sigh/

Most people, now, are well aware of the big "news" organizations that are nothing more than the Enquirer. I guess he did one good thing in his Presidency so far and that is to bring to light just how biased some of the big name brands really are.

    Donald Trump drains the swamp.
“Tom Marino is a four-term Republican member of the House who represents a district in northeastern Pennsylvania that has been hard-hit by the opioid crisis. Yet Marino also has been a friend on Capitol Hill of the giant drug companies that distribute the pain pills that have wreaked so much devastation around the nation.
Marino was the chief advocate of the Ensuring Patient Access and Effective Drug Enforcement Act, which requires the government to meet a higher bar before taking certain enforcement actions.
The Drug Enforcement Administration fought against the bill for years, but finally relented last year after a leadership change at the agency. Marino is now President Trump’s nominee to become the nation’s next drug czar.
The new law makes it virtually impossible for the DEA to freeze suspicious narcotic shipments from the companies, according to internal agency and Justice Department documents and an independent assessment by the DEA’s chief administrative law judge in a soon-to-be-published law review article. That powerful tool had allowed the agency to immediately prevent drugs from reaching the street.

The law was the crowning achievement of a multifaceted campaign by the drug industry to weaken aggressive DEA enforcement efforts against drug distribution companies that were supplying corrupt doctors and pharmacists who peddled narcotics to the black market. The industry worked behind the scenes with lobbyists and key members of Congress, pouring more than a million dollars into their election campaigns.
Political action committees representing the industry contributed at least $1.5 million to the 23 lawmakers who sponsored or co-sponsored four versions of the bill, including nearly $100,000 to Marino. Overall, the drug industry spent $106 million lobbying Congress on the bill and other legislation between 2014 and 2016, according to lobbying reports.
