I'd forgotten about that thread. So I looked it back up and had a good laugh. Especially when the "no, seriously, I was trolling, see?" part started. Pure hilarity, that.BoatShoes;1778953 wrote:The St Louis Fed is not a liberal website. I failed and posted a meme based on lies. Nobody's perfect. Carry on with believing that you are choosing the more conservative option when you support Trump over Hillary come November. -

HitsRusRubio Rising....
Polls show Rubio gaining major traction in Iowa. They are hoping for a solid 3rd place finish, but don't expect to finish 1 or 2.

However, Ted Cruz is desperate for a top 2 finish...first, trying to cut off the rest of the field by challenging frontrunner Trump to a mano/mano debate,...a thinly veiled maneuver to change the perception to a two man race. Second, he's shifting money from ads attacking Trump to ads attacking Rubio as the Iowa caucuses approach. If Rubio should top Cruz in Iowa, it would be a major blow to the Cruz campaign.

2. I am not a Trump supporter. I think he is right behind Hillary for the most disgusting person in the whole race. He is the last R I hope wins the nomination. Only way I ever vote for him is in the general over Hill or Sand. -

I think for Rubio to win the nomination he needs others to drop-out.HitsRus;1779005 wrote:Rubio Rising....

The math is tough, but I'm not sure Iowa and New Hampshire will really predict the winner. Last year it seemed like Santorum, Paul and a few others did well early, but Romney gained momentum and ultimately started racking up the votes.
If we figure Trump and Cruz split Carson's votes when he eventually drops out, then the current Iowa poll would have Trump at @ 36% and Cruz at 29%...if Rubio picks up nearly all the rest (and I think he probably gets 2/3), then it's a very tight 3-horse race. Trump is so polarizing I don't think he gains much as others drop out - seems people are either voting for him already or hate him and will never vote for him in the primary.
I still think [hope] Rubio is going to consolidate and ultimately win the nomination. Although I'm rather unimpressed and unexcited as I think he's basically a Repub version of Obama (inexperienced, never had a real job, using politics to get wealthy). The only thing I see better about Rubio vs. Obama is I think Rubio would reach across the aisle more and be a little less of an idealogue, a little more fiscally responsible and a little less likely to ram thru executive actions (which has been an increasing trend among Presidents).
Cruz and Trump are terrible. The Repubs had a number of strong governors in the race, but the primary voters seemed to write them all off almost from the start. -
HitsRus^^^^ I wouldn't figure any of Carson's votes would go to Trump.

Trump's unfavorability ratings are huge....more than any other candidate running...60%. While he leads the Republican field, with 33% favorable it is almost a 27% differential.
Compare that to Clinton and all her scandals and problems....52% negative.
Others unfavorability ratings...
Bush 45%
Christie 38%
Cruz 37%
Rubio 33%
Sanders 31%
Carson 30% -

His professed positions in any case save his budget exploding tax cuts and his immigration stance are more liberal than Hillary's in a number of areas.
Namely, he agrees with Bernie on Single payer and said as much during the first debate.
He opposes foreign intervention in almost all cases where Hillary supports foreign intervention e.g. libya, syria, Iraq.
He is a trade protectionist opposing the TPP and NAFTA like Bernie whereas Hillary supports the TPP and NAFTA and is generally supportive of free trade.
He is not agaonst gay marriage nor is her seriously against abortion...he has previously supported Partial Birth Abortion openly.
He has supported the elimination of income tax on individuals earning below 50k but increasing it on the very wealthy...not exactly standard liberal methodology but supportive of more wealth redistribution nevertheless.
Why do you think Romney style establishment Republicans are warming to Clinton??? Because she is more in favor of the establishment conservative worldview than Trump.
Sorry to burst your bubble but a vote for Trump is a vote for old school union protectionist economic liberalism and social New York Values liberalism. Please proceed. -

And in case you didn't notice everyone has ignored my argument that Trump's policies are liberal and attacked me personally (including you) because I fell for the stupid meme like an idiot.
And, again, my argument is that even if a True Conservative hates Hillary, they should acknowledge that based on their political positions, Hillary is more conservative than Trump on a number of issues including foreign policy, trade and healthcare. I think a True Conservative should either vote Hillary or Gary Johnson if that is the choice. -

The libertarian got less than 5% in Iowa while a Republican who supports single-payer and trade protectionism and a self-proclaimed socialist democrat who supports single-payer healthcare together got 75% of the vote almost in their respective primaries.Apple;1779617 wrote:Rand Paul just dropped out of the race.

Wolves of Babylon
His lack of support had to do with his anti interventionist foreign policy. That is not a popular stance with the Neoconservatives that make up a lot of the Republican party or at least the part that votes.BoatShoes;1779707 wrote:The libertarian got less than 5% in Iowa while a Republican who supports single-payer and trade protectionism and a self-proclaimed socialist democrat who supports single-payer healthcare together got 75% of the vote almost in their respective primaries.
People are so afraid of terrorist right now although you are more likely to be killed by your husband/wife than a terrorist.

Keep repeating your Trump mantra over and over and over again.......maybe it will come true.
And, there is no such thing a socialist democrat, or a democratic socialist. He is a socialist. Socialists are essentially an enemy of Americans. -

The Bolsheviks were a faction of the Russian Democratic Socialist Party. The other faction the Mensheviks. Cruz during a Republican debate made mention of these two factions of the Russian Democratic Socialist Party in reference to listening to the Democrat debate.HitsRus;1779793 wrote:oh yes there are "social democrats" ... You had been ranting for days about how all conservatives hate Obama because he is a "black Muslim" and I post exactly that in a post. Sorry if the sarcasm didn't register since most people at that time believed that conservatives did not like Obama for just that reason. -
