Can we just shut the government down already?

  • ptown_trojans_1
I'm so disgusted with everyone. This is a failure of epic proportions, by everyone in this God forsaken town.
No matter what happens, even if an 11th hour deal is reached, everyone should just be ashamed.
I though my faith in Congress and the President hit a low with the Sequester, but now it's at a new low.

What a joke of a town, Congress, and President now.

    For who?
    They ALL suck.

    This is on everyone.
Boehner is a joke of a Speaker. Reid is a tool, and the President can't stop whining and complaining.
The Tea Party is irrational, the D's are gutless, the moderate R's are weak.

It is a huge institutional failure.

The institutions didn't fail; some people occupying the institutions failed, due to greed, power, and ego.

    We know who they are.

A budget is not getting passed, shutting down the Government. I call that Institutional failure.
And, the fact this along with the Sequester, I say failure, by everyone.
    No one is immune.
  • QuakerOats
Who has been in control of the body that has not passed a budget in over 4 years?

Who will NOT reach across the aisle and negotiate/compromise on this horrific legislation?

    I rest my case.
  • ptown_trojans_1
Yeah, that's right the R's have no blame at all. Please.
You are so bias it is comical. Thanks for the laugh.

And I was remiss to mention that the Activist-in-Chief is no where to be found as far as leading/managing/negotiating is concerned. He is of course lobbing divisive pot shots from afar, just as one would expect an activist/agitator to do. And his minions are following along in lockstep. The Failure Tour rolls on ......

Same could be said for Boehner. He has shown he is a weak Speaker.
I have seen zero leadership from the House. They are all tools. All of them. You cannot seem to understand how insanely stupid all of this. There is zero leadership from anyone.
  • ptown_trojans_1
Honestly, what is the final goal?
Tell me. Defund the healthcare law? Then what?

And, if there is the shutdown, then what?
You do know it costs more and will increase spending right?
This is really stupid. It accomplishes nothing.

Right, right cause there is only 1 House in Congress that actually can get any blame....
The Senate has also passed a CR you know?

They "allocated" us 4 hours to come in the office to sign our furlough letters and set our out of office emails. What a fucking joke. I am tempted to say im sick and not come in, because fuck them, but I don't want to deal with the backlash. Sure as hell not staying in there up to 4 hours. Gonna get in sign my paper, and leave within 20 mins. Fuck them.

This whole kabuki dance is childs play compared to the debt ceiling in 17 days.

Whether govt shuts down for a few days or not doesn't really have much economic impact on this country.

Failure to raise the debt ceiling unleashes the financial dogs of war so to speak, and that one we will all notice quite quickly.

Boehner is boxed in right now.

He could pass a clean CR and Debt limit increase tonight if he put them up for a vote, but knows he wouldn't be speaker of the house any longer tomorrow if he did.

I have never really seen anything like this before.

I for one will wake up in the morning go to work, the US military will also be hard at work keeping me safe while I sit behind my desk, and when I get home I'll grab my mail out of my mail box that the US postman brought right to my front door. No change here.

S&P: “This sort of political brinkmanship is the dominant reason the rating is no longer ‘AAA.’”
Well that's nice. Maybe we can get another downgrade in a few weeks at the debt deadline so that our borrowing costs can increase even more all because we can't govern ourselves.

Yeah, and a shutdown actually costs more money we have found. Yay uncontrolled spending!

So, again, what is the end goal for the Republicans?
  • IggyPride00
The House is calling for a Conference committee on the budget/CR, something they have fought like bloody hell to stop from happening for 4 months now. Ted Cruz has said in no uncertain terms it can never be allowed to happen.

What the hell is going on?

D's are not budging on this. It was a lost cause.

If I hold a stronger hand why would I even consider negotiating with a party that had no balls? Perhaps you think that the minority should should immediately bow to the will of the majority? Is it a lost cause being in the minority? That's not how our government works. There are checks and balances. There is a reason the House, not the Senate holds the power of the purse.

This is good government as the founders intended. Its not like we are going to war and shooting and killing ourselves. If you want an efficient streamlined government a dictatorship is the way to go.

I read an article a few days ago that it is possible there wont be back pay like the last shutdown.

I'll be going to work tomorrow for free. What really sucks is for the people who are on vacation and cant come back to work. Word is they wont get a paid for that day.
