obamaKare: the destruction begins

"He should be sucking the Obama schlong."

Like NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, Washington Post, New York Times, Bill Maher and Jon Stewart?

Devil's Advocate, you walked into that response.

Nah. You came up a bit short.

Had another wonderful experience with the British system - not the NHS, but rather the private system which is overwhelmed because the British version of Obamacare sucks so much. 3 hours in the waiting room just to get a blood sample and blood pressure taken, paid by insurance because it isn't NHS but rather a private, premium hospital. I can't imagine how terrible the NHS hospitals are.

Got my renewal quote for the office from my insurance company today, along with a letter explaining the changes because of Obamacare.....bottom line is that for me to keep our 'Gold' classified plan we will pay a 22% increase. Thanks, Barry.

Considering the heart attack was a pre-existing condition and insurance companies, by law, are required to cover all pre-existing conditions. They have to pay for his surgery in January as well, even if the heart attack happened on Dec 31.

ANOTHER delay. Remember when the media ripped the "opposition" apart for suggesting such a thing? LOLFAIL. What a joke.

“This is part of a long-term pattern of this administration manipulating the law for its own convenience,” Boehner said. “It’s not hard to understand why the American people question this administration’s commitment to the rule of law.”

You need to change your tag line as Obama has.

He is beyond "change we can believe in" and now has said at times "this is what change looks like". That is a far more fitting tag line for the current situation given those headlines you pulled.
  • IggyPride00
    Shocking I tell you.

The WH claims they just made their goal of over 7 million sign ups yesterday.

The media is also reporting that the polling is turning around on Obamacare, and that the GOP is panicking over the increasing "good news" associated with the law.

You'd almost think it's a coordinated effort between Obama and the press.

It wouldn't be surprising. But given the "opacity" of the numbers they've reported to-date, it wouldn't surprise me is this isn't subterfuge to buy more time. 2-3 months from now they might say "we actually only signed-up 5M....but as of today we have officially hit 7M" Lies and half-truths to be dismissed by new/updated facts down the road have been the MO of this administration.

    LOL --- true.

How about ... "Success looks like":

Ten of millions of insured cancelled

A couple million sign ups - all subsidized

    75% now with higher premiums

    on top of

    Record Debt

    Record Deficits

    Record Unemployment

    Record Disability

    Record Food Stamps

    Record (deadly) Scandals

    Record Divisiveness

    Horrific Foreign Policy

Ahh ....... that's what change looks like; that is what success looks like.

The Dear Leader is having a press conference at 4:15 to announce that Obamacare was triumphant and is a success.

It should be worth watching because the reports are he is planning on spiking the ball big time.

Look for him to get in some good pot shots on Paul Ryan as well after the budget proposal he released today that wants to slash Medicare. Liberals have been creaming themselves with excitement today over it and "The One" might not be able to resist taking his swipes.
  • IggyPride00
The Dear Leader is in rare form right now as he is just pissing all over Republican opposition to his signature milestone.

He is claiming that sign-ups have surpassed their wildest dreams, and that Obamacare is here to stay.

The man literally has no shame.
  • IggyPride00
"There are still no death panels"

    "Armageddon has not arrived"

"You know, in the end, history is not kind those who would deny Americans their basic economic security."

"The debate over repealing this law is over. The Affordable Care Act is here to stay."

Obama is just outright mocking his political opponents right now with snarky humor.

The Press pool reportedly erupted when he announced that 7.1 million people have signed up.

Joe "Big Fucking Deal" Biden is all smiles as the cheap shots continue to be taken against Republicans.

The obama regime has completely disrupted the health care of the ENTIRE OF UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

What is transpiring at this moment is simply unbelievable.

I have never seen a President outright laugh at his political opponents the way this one has.

Those comments he said are things I would expect to read on a political blog, not out of the mouth of the President of the United States.

Democratic blogs are on fire right now taking a victory lap on Obamacare after BHO spiked the ball in the end zone today.

Obama has won it looks like as there is no scenario on the horizon that rids this nation of Obamacare.

Republicans could learn alot from BHO. He was willing to be a lame duck President for 6 years in order to fundamentally transform America. He was that committed to his ideology.

When are Conservatives going to grow the same spine?

And it's just as premature as "mission accomplished". Obamakare is a long way from being a success or failure - 7M was a pretty arbitrary number to begin with. What they are really celebrating is Obamakare not completely failing out-of-the gate.

Reporting says the Regime tried to secure a primetimeslot on Network TV on Tuesday to brag about the 7 million sign-ups for Obamacare and the networks told him to buzz off.

Networks usually only cede time like that for real news (like Bin Laden, Katrina, War) and yet the Dear Leader thought that his victory lap and football spiking ranked up there in importance.

The arrogance of this man is truly stunning at times. Although it had to be quite a blow to his ego that the propaganda arm of the White House (the mainstream media) told him to get lost when he tried to call in a favor.

    From Tuesday's football spiking party.

Is there anyone, outside of the Whitehouse, that can confirm the 7 million figure? Not inclined to believe whats coming out of of there without some independent confirmation.

I was actually curious about this as well. There is some guy that has been tracking it (acasignups.net). It's clear that he is pretty left-leaning, but he has been doing a good job consolidating data given by the state and federal exchanges. Since the states have been more proactive and transparent about their numbers, I find the trends interesting. I quickly put some numbers in excel to try to make sense of the data; I could have made some entry errors though.

Thus far, 19 states (well 18 plus Washington DC) have provided enrollment numbers through March 31st; 5 states have provided numbers through most of the March; and three states have provided numbers through the first half of March. I figured the 19 states will full data provided a good comparison to the unconfirmed numbers.

    • Through February, the 19 states accounted for 2.02 million of the 4.24 million enrolled or 47.6%.
    • For March, these same states accounted for .81 million of the 2.86 million enrolled or 28.3%.
    • These 19 states enrolled an additional 40% above their totals through February compared to a 67% increase across all states.
    • The remaining states had a 92% increase from their totals through February.
Another way to look at this would be to evaluate the daily enrollment from February alone to the daily enrollment in March (I guess this is actually 30 days, March 2nd through 31st). February should provide a baseline of demand for March. Furthermore, I would assume that whatever impact on enrollment the website issues had early on, would either have little to do with the February/March enrollment or both would experience proportional increases in enrollment.

    • Across all states, February had a daily enrollment of 33672 while March had a daily enrollment of 95333 for a 283% increase.
    • The 19 states had February daily enrollment of 12605 and a March daily enrollment of 27035 for a 214% increase.
    • The remaining states had a February daily enrollment of 21068 and a March daily enrollment of 68299 for a 342% increase.
Basically, to reach the 7.1 million enrollment figures, the states with little or no March information (i.e., federal exchange states) would have to significantly outpace the states that have presented enrollment figures and had shown significantly greater demand in prior months. On one hand, one could assume that these states likely had more room for growth; on the other hand, one could also assume that the previous enrollment figures indicate less demand in theses states.

So as you can see, I wasted a lot of time, but the media rarely presents any critical analysis or context to figures of any kind; this always bothers me. I'm not looking for any complex statistical analyses, but they could report enough analysis where we can make some basic inferences about the validity of the figures. Instead, they take the numbers as face value, making asymmetrical information even more asymmetrical.

Tough analysis to extrapolate. They've always expected a big last minute rush, and I think that sounds perfectly reasonable. Massachusetts saw something similar with Romneycare....a useful benchmark might be to compare what their last minute trends were.

Doesn't really matter. Wouldn't surprise me a month or two from now to revise these numbers down significantly - the media doesn't hold this administration accountable, neither for bad data nor for outright lying.

Yeah I mean it's really impossible to predict a relatively unknown behavior (i.e., healthcare exchange enrollment), especially considering the novelty of these deadlines.

That being said, I just find it interesting that they have a surge that gets them to some arbitrary goal right on the last day of enrollment. What makes it even more interesting is that the states that provide consistent data, and had been consistently more successful, experienced a weaker surge (only 63%) compared to the unverifiable data.
