I can't get on the Gilbert hate train like some of you all.  Yeah there is shit he does that is annoying.  He has an ego and so does Lebron, but don't forget what Gilbert did to get Cleveland it's first title since 1964.  I am not going to go over everything, but he took on some BAD contracts after Lebron left, and then he paid luxury tax out of the ass when Lebron came. Not many owners are willing to do that shit.  Cleveland fans (tribe/browns/cavs), should know better too.  Dolan is a cheap ass, and no doubt Haslam didn't fire Hue, because he is currently paying 3 coaches.

He is easily the greatest owner Cleveland has ever had. Tell me why I am wrong.

He took on Baron Davis which ended up parlaying into the Kyrie pick. Like you said, he's done some stupid shit but he's also ponied up a boatload of money, which most other owners won't. He allowed the group & the GM to make that Bennett pick, even though it was on record (at the time) that he favored Oladipo. That wasn't a "hindsight/bullshit" type thing like some here are implying.

Gilbert is fine. I’m not hating on him as an owner. I’m hating on him as a talent evaluator. He is a GREAT owner when he sits back and pays for what a real GM (D Griffin) asks him for. He is not a good owner when he tries to handle the day to day tasks that a GM should do and try and evaluate talent.

Outside of Griffin, I can't think of a good hire he's made.

Kawhi Leonard wanting out of San Antonio seems official now, with him preferring the Lakers or Knicks.

If he goes to LA, I don’t see how Lebron wouldn’t go there.

Bring them both to NYC!

The Spurs aren't dumb like the Cavs, so I don't see them caving into demands unless they get a legit trade.  The Spurs can trade Kawhi anywhere.  They don't need to send him to a preferable destination, especially in the West.

If they can get the best haul back from LA, they’re going to do it. Since they’re trading kawhi, they’re not going to be contenders for a couple years anyway. Might as well get the best return you can, and Rebuild

I am just saying it's more likely going to be a hell of a haul vs what the Cavs got.  Also, Celtics could easily counter the Lakers offer.  I think other teams could counter the Lakers offer as well.

Regardless if I am the Cavs I call memphis right now about the 4th pick they are trying to shop just to shed Parsons' contract.

San Antonio could get (at least) Kuzma and Ingram in return for Leonard. Not a bad return. If Leonard went to the Lakers you might as well kiss Lebron goodbye for certain at that point. PG would eventually sign and Lebron would be crazy to pass up playing in LA with those two plus a good passing guard in Lonzo.

I don't see that team giving him a better chance to beat GSW

You don’t see how Lonzo, Kawhi, Lebron, pg13, and Lopez is better than George Hill, jr, Lebron, love, and TT?

Lopez isn’t under contract next year.

Lakers will have to make some crazy moves in order to get 3 max guys. I don’t see it happening.

They would have Bird rights with a trade for Kawhi, right? So his salary wouldn’t matter (after the salary match during trade) as long as it’s after they signed PG and LeBron (or whoever as the 2 Max guys)

I hope whatever team Lebron signs with doesn’t give him general manager duties like the Cavs always do. Lebron and the Cavs are a match made in heaven. He wants to call all the shots and give his buddies ridiculous contracts and the Cavs don’t have the sack to call him on any of it. So at the end of the line, they are always in a terrible position.

I believe so because he will be both acquired by trade (instead of FA) and spent 3 years with the same team.

Still sticking with "I think he's staying." Sounds like he's actually doing some behind the scenes recruiting to see what the interest would be of other stars coming here. The big question will be as to whether he can convince anyone to come here.

This may sound odd but I've kind of cooled off on them bringing in Kawhi Leonard. I would have some interest in seeing if they could snag CJ McCollum.

In order for their to be a chance, we are going to have to see a trade before the draft.  Also, I think the chances increase if the Cavs trade for the 4th pick from Memphis.

I thought he did some gauging of Bosh and Wade's interest in coming to Cleveland in 2010 though? I'm trying not to pay too much attention to any of it. If you try hard enough you could probably find sources that suggest about anything. Mock drafts are a perfect example of that. I've seen Trae Young, Porter, Sexton, and Bagley all linked to the 8th pick.

Lebron/Wade/Bosh teaming up in Miami was a foregone conclusion well before that free agency.  Rick Reilly and Wade were orchestrating that shit 2 years before it happened.
