Well damn.  Killebrew.  In 1964, Killebrew led the league with 49 bombs, despite only getting 11 doubles during that season.

His gap of 38 is wider than any gap by any HOF player during that time frame in either direction (homers over doubles OR doubles over homers).

ha, only reason I guessed him is because I guessed Kiner and Killebrew popped into my head also with the same sound. And only reason I guessed Kiner is cause he led league so often figured maybe once he didn’t have doubles.

Also just stumbled on this, but might wanna check out Lou Brock in 1968 on that question (2B over HR).

Jim Thome....612 HR and never was the active leader....always trailed Griffey and when Griffey retired Arod had surpassed Thome
