Hill is better than OBJ (or whoever our #1 is). But our WR corps is way deeper. I’d probably give us the next 4-5 guys at WR after Hill.

O line and D line is not close. Secondary probably more talent on the Browns. Linebackers would be close.

Kelce is better TE, that’s a given.

True, though if Mathieu was playing I’d probably give their secondary a slight edge. Baker played one of his best games ever and still wasn’t all that close to Mahomes. It’s hard to win in the NFL without an elite qb anymore. Nearly impossible if you’re facing an elite qb.

Yep. What was the main point of my initial post. Browns are probably a better overall team, but we don’t have Mahomes. But we definitely proved we belong, and if they get a rematch, the confidence will be sky-high. I also like our offensive game more in an outdoor January setting. Just fucking stay healthy guys. Wills is a bad omen on the injury front.

Precisely my reason for "expecting" a victory. Outside of Mahomes, Kelce & Hill the Browns are a better team, top to bottom.

Chubb doesn't fumble that ball and they likely win. I'm not beating up on him because him fumbling is pretty rare. Kind of like when poor Byner had to wear the goat horns for Webster Slaughters lookout block in the AFC Championship game. Just like Chubb, Byner had a stellar game except for one blemish.

My biggest bitch is the fugging PUNTER. Pick up the ball, run to the left, not right, and PUNT it. You're a former rugby player for god sakes. Dude gets in pressure situations and pisses down his leg.

Baker outplayed Mahomes for 3 quarters but, for as much as I love Mayfield as the QB, I always get nervous about that drive killing INT on game winning drives and it happened. At the end of the year I'm sure many will harp on his stats as being a "game manager" but if Stefanski really wanted to pad Baker's stats that could've easily been a 3-4 TD game instead of running the ball in.

With the game they played yesterday, the Browns beat 29 of the 31 other teams in the league. Just happened to draw KC. On to Houston.

Yeah I honestly wasn't expecting our D to be that much better. I know they'd be better obviously but they held the best offense in football in check.

It hurt losing Wills. Hopefully he's not out long. Jones didn't do shit until Wills got hurt.

That fucking fumble man.....

Yep. It was a definite momentum killer. At that point, the KC defense had no answer for the Browns offense. Had the fumble not happened I think they drive in and score again but we'll never know.

I think it's more likely we see a SB title for the remainder of our lifetime vs seeing a week 1 win.

Sad but probably true. As was mentioned previously, if this game's at home I think we might have seen a different outcome.

Myles Garrett had a good point, postgame: why eject Harrison but not the coach off of KC's bench for going after the player?

I don't know much about Foster, but we desperately need help at linebacker. We always look a step or two slow out there. We'll probably look fine against the bad teams coming up, but we won't get to the ultimate goal without improved linebacker play.

Foster has been injury riddled and has had off the field issues.

What was a head scratcher, to me, was why did they not have JOK shadowing Travis Kelce in that game? The impression that I had was the main reason they drafted him was to try to negate the athleticism of the Kelce's, Mark Andrews, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Mahomes, etc. Instead, they put an old, slow as molasses LB on Kelce and he, as usual, has his way.

EDIT: And Anthony Walker, probably their best LB, just went on IR with a hamstring injury and won't be back for 3 weeks.

I just want the W but it will be a little disappointing if they don't blow Houston out by at least 10 points.

Yeah, so much for this re-vamped defense.

Ugly but we'll take it. 1-1 with everyone else in the division and the Rats likely to be 0-2.

Somehow I have the feeling that had Tyrod not gone down with that hammy the Browns would be staring at 0-2 as well.

Defense is still pretty disappointing, especially Garrett.

You got your wish! Nice.

My family is very happy that the Browns won (based on my behavior a week ago).

He played one of his best games of his career last week. And was doubled on virtually every play today.

Defense was solid and then got wrecked on 3rd downs. Ward was trash for a solid stretch today. But mostly it’s the LB that aren’t holding up. JOK needs to learn the NFL game quickly because he’s the only one with actual NFL speed and athleticism.

I get what you're saying on the double teams but guys like TJ Watt (similar role, except one has his hand in the dirt, one doesn't) get doubled and still get theirs. Myles needs to step up and make more impact/difference making plays. In fact the whole defense needs to.

Part of this is on Joe Woods. Dude almost never blitzes but when he does, surprise, surprise, Delpit with a nasty sack on Mills.

I mentioned it seemed like the D had been really solid on 1st and 2nd downs. I didn't realize it was THIS bad on 3rd though. And quite a few are in 3rd and relatively long...

  • vs KC - 9/13 converted against
  • vs Houston - 8/14 converted against
  • on season - 17/27 converted (63%) against

Forcing 13 and 14 3rd down attempts is actually VERY encouraging. Especially vs KC (for reference, they only faced 6 last night vs Baltimore). But not converting those into stops has been back breaking (more reference, KC only converted 1 of those 6 last night). I can vivedly remember Clowney blowing up 3 plays in the backfield this year on 1st down. All 3 have been subsequently converted on 3rd down. If they can just get home even half the time, they are going to be in position to win virtually every game they play. Because this offense is structured to score and more importantly structured to finish drives with TDs. Even without some stars, the offense will put up a lot of points.

Wasn't aware of the 1st/2nd down stats but was VERY aware of the 3rd downs. Defense can't get off the field and part of this is Woods' cushy defense. I get that last year he had to do things with mirrors because of bad personnel but that's not the case now. Needs to bring more blitzes imo.

Stefanski said Jarvis has an MCL sprain and is "week to week" but hasn't ruled him out for Sunday. Jarvis will probably want to go but I'd be surprised if they played him.

That's huge. Need OBJ back. Landry can fill in for OBJ and Higgins can fill in for Landry. But no one can fill in for Landry filling in for OBJ lol.

Also sounds like the injury Baker sustained yesterday typically requires surgery to repair it from it happening over & over. He played in a sling after it happened. I guess if he would've sustained this to his throwing shoulder he likely would've been done for an extended period, perhaps the year. Not sure if this will require offseason surgery but something to watch. Has the rookie WR, alligator arming that pass, to thank for that.

This is a recurring theme every season and it's obnoxious.
