I love the udfa signing of Trenton Thompson. He was the number 1 player overall in his recruiting class and was a stud his first 2 years and then just dropped off a cliff last year due to medical issues. If healthy he could be an absolute steal

I love the way that dumbass Mel Kiper flip flops. He makes a comment predicting the Browns to go 8-8 in 2018 then last night he has them as one of his draft "losers."

Mayfield doesn't make it to 4. Giants would've taken him at 2 and Jets would've taken him at 3. He was the top QB on both their boards. Dorsey's known for a while that Mayfield was his guy. I'm thrilled they didn't use the #1 overall pick in the draft on a RB.

Is this your opinion, or do you have factual proof of this? Mayfield is a crapshoot in a weak QB draft..period. Again, I hope I'm wrong, but I just don't have the same confidence in him as you obviously do.

Have already heard the Giants GM's interview and the Jets HC interview. Both had Mayfield as their top guy.

Highsmith on why they flipped from Darnold to Mayfield.

I already posted that!! Thought it was interesting. Dorsey going to be on 92.3 this morning

Sorry. I'm a dumbass. Didn't see it a couple of posts up.

They had Hue on yesterday afternoon. Pretty basic stuff. Said Haley would be calling the plays and that Tyrod would be the starter. He did leave the door cracked open for Mayfield to be the week 1 starter if he was lights out in training camp (ala Russell Wilson vs Matt Flynn).

The thing I really found interesting about the Highsmith article was when he asked the UCLA volleyball coach about Rosen and the coach deferred to Rosen's girlfriend.

A lot of "NFL people" have stated that Mayfield was a lot of team's top QBs and there'd have been no way the Browns would have grabbed him at 4 if they went Barkley at 1. Obviously, it's impossible to provide proof of that, as we'd have to see how it played out; but, I haven't heard a single interview where they didn't mention how high teams all of a sudden got on Mayfield and how if the Browns passed on him, the Giants at 2, Jets at 3, or another team moving up would have taken him.

Yeah, I know. He was slobbering all over Allen.

Shit, Sirius NFL had a Bills fan call in this morning and his take was "well.....he's our QB now, so I'm going to support him." Not overly thrilled at the choice.

Funny how all of these pundits were cocksure, the last month leading up to the draft, it was going to be Darnold or Allen when Highsmith said at that luncheon that he had Allen fifth, behind Lamar Jackson, on his QB list.

Hell the patriots told his agent if he is there at 2 they were going to try everything to move up to draft him. He was the number 1 Qb on a bunch of teams board

I was talking to a client in Boston yesterday (Patriots fan) who was laughing because the Browns took Mayfield. I chuckled at him and told him that had Mayfield dropped a little, NE would've traded up to get him.

WHY WARD? The Browns shocked a lot of people when they chose Denzel Ward with the second pick in the NFL Draft, especially with defensive end Bradley Chubb still on the board. It turns out, the rationale is actually pretty solid and remarkably strategic.

Quite alright. Was interesting to see their mindset on needing a press corner versus a pass rusher.

Obviously think they are very high on Ogbah and that there were too many near misses by Garrett that if they had a shutdown corner to give the pass rushers another second, it would've equated into a few more sacks.

A corner was obviously needed but my concern with passing on Chubb is that I think we all know it's a huge coin flip that Ogbah & Garrett will stay healthy for 16 games,

I'll reserve my judgment of Baker and just be happy it wasn't Allen. I thought Darnold was better, but wtf do I know.. I liked Kizer.

We will never know how Kizer would have fared with a playcaller that wasn't an idiot.

the bright side is I've seen a couple people report Allen was our lowest rated QB, so that gives me faith in the staff.

I'll be interested to see if learning from Aaron Rodgers helps him any. Couldn't have found himself in a much better situation.

When Hue was being interviewed yesterday, they asked him if he rushed Kizer into action too soon. Hue's response was "no, he was the best QB we had in the room." Sadly, between Kizer, Kessler & Hogan, Hue was right.
