The only problem with that is there is no "best available QB"...you have three QB's that are interchangeable, so one of them will be there at 4. Take Barkley, cause we've seen what a stud running back can do.

I agree that these QB's are interchangeable but I can't see pulling the trigger on a RB at #1. Especially from PSU with all of the RB busts they've produced. I know the past doesn't necessarily dictate the present but that is a concern to me.

In the last 3 drafts, there was a 100% success rate in drafting RB's in the first 10 picks of the draft.

Fournette, McCaffrey

Zeke

Todd Gurley

All 4 of those guys can help our team, so why are you so against drafting someone in the top 10 that can help our team?

I realize there are studs in the 3rd, 4th rounds. There are also quite a bit of duds. Not a lot of duds are drafted in the top 10 at the RB position.

I just told you, because you can get the same or better value in later rounds.  Fournette and McCafferey currently aren't the best RBs in this rookie class.   And how about we wait to see how they hold up after 4 years?  Most RBs have a short shelf life.  When I am using a first round pick, I am looking for a guy that is going to produce beyond 4-5 years.   Even if we drafted a first round RB that produces immediately, by the time if (big if) we put enough pieces around to be competitive, most likely that RB won't be producing anymore.  This team has so many needs to be competitive and a RB is down the list.  Draft a RB in the 2nd or 3rd round and utilize duke properly.  That is more than enough.

You can also say in the last 3 drafts there was a 100% chance there was a stud RB available beyond the first round.  Look at the current RB draft class coming up.  Way too much talent to be wasting a first round pick (especially the browns in the top 4) on Barkley.   You're also using a small sample size. Look beyond three years.  There have been plenty of dud first round RBs and wasted picks when the RBs in the later rounds would have been a better choice.

I don't get how you and others are falling into this trap again.  It wasn't too long ago when everyone and their mother were creaming themselves over trent richardson. I was told that t-rich was a can't miss draft pick and would easily produce.  How did that work out for us?  I much rather take my chances on any other position the Browns need in the first round over a RB.  At least if that guy turns out to be a bust, it will be a lot better than drafting a bust at RB while we watch other teams reaping the benefits of drafting a productive RB in the later rounds.

It’s january. We haven’t seen pro days, combine, personal meetings w/ GM and coaches, etc. I believe that one of these QBs will emerge as the best/favorite. Happens every year.

Every team in the playoffs as of this weekend (except one) was in the top 6 of running the ball this season. The other is the Patriots who were 10th. It is very important.

Yup and only one of them had a first round RB...

Edit:  Just put it this way, I rather continuously invest in a line that can clear the way for RBs to gain 4+ yards a carry than draft a RB in the first round.  Plenty of teams have done this and are succeeding because of it.  The vikings are a prime example considering their top back went down early this season.  The eagles too.   That's what you need in today's nfl.  A RB gaining just enough yards per carry to keep the defense honest and open up the passing game.

Browns interviewing ben mcadoo for OC job. Not sure how I feel about that. People in NY hate the guy. But HC’s who get fired usually go on to make a pretty good coordinator.

At the very least, I’m happy that Hue is going to hire an OC. Smh

He was considered a good OC. That's why he was hired as head coach. Of course so was Hue Jackson.

I am fine with it.  Some guys are just meant to be coordinators.

Mularkey is another guy twitter is saying is interviewing. Interesting move, he was good in Pittsburgh and Atlanta as an OC. However the fact that MM didn't develop as fast as thought is a negative. Either way, anyone besides Hue is a step in the right direction.

Well, if they get Mularkey, you should be happy because he's definitely more run happy than Hue.

Browns took like 50 rookies from the 2017 draft, and only Myles Garret got AP top rookie nods. That along with no Jimmy G is why Sashi is gone.

I really can't blame Sashi for the Jimmy G thing. Initially, I thought he dropped the ball but Joe Thomas said himself the Browns had told the Patriots "if you ever want to trade JG, call us first." Were going to give up the Texans 1st rounder, at least, for him per JT. Belichick had no intention of trading him here.

Sashi was pretty bad but I can't blame him on that one. Sounds like they wanted Jimmy G pretty bad.

He falls into the common category of bad HC but good OC/DC

Eh I guess. I still think Sashi should have been calling the fucking guy nonstop for the last 6 months. Pretty passive approach if you ask me.

Off topic but have you listened to the ThomaHawk podcasts? I think you'd really enjoy them if you haven't. Both JT & Andrew Hawkins are very good.

Listened to the first one and found it entertaining. Probably be one I'll check in on from time to time. In the first one Joe Thomas sure talked about football in a past tense, made me sad.

Yeah, the fact that he's been pretty vocal about the screw ups of this franchise gives me the impression he might be done. Granted, he's considered an "elder statesman" so he can get away with the old man "get off my lawn" crap but current players usually aren't as critical about a team they plan on continuing to play for. Hope I'm wrong. He's not terribly old but that injury isn't the easiest thing to come back from.

Joe Schobert to be added to the Pro Bowl to replace Ryan Shazier (golf clap). First Browns LB to make it since Jamir Miller.

Looking at impending FAs, Lamarcus Joyner is one that the Browns should be going after. 27 yrs old, PFF's #3 safety and likley that Rams can't afford to keep him with their other FAs. Get Joyner, Alex Smith, and a legit WR in FA we should be cooking at least 3 wins.

Pryor disappeared this season. He’s still better than most of our wr corp though.  does he make his way back to Cleveland?

Jarvis Landry?

I'd be so down.

Add Joyner, a CB, Alex Smith, TP, and Landry in FA. Fire Hue, hire Mike Zimmer like we should have, sign Sean Ryan to be OC, Draft a QB at #1, Chubbs/Ward/Minkah at #4 we'd be in a much better spot than last yr.

Works for me but 0% chance that happens. Haha

If your team goes 0-16, every player should be disqualifed from being pro bowl eligible.
