The new Tomb Raider, 4/10

I, Tonya: 7/10. Allison Janney fucking killed it though. As did Tonya's bodyguard.

Paul Walter Hauser. He was amazing in one of my favorite shows of the past few years that no one ever watched, Kingdom.

She has to be one of my favorite actresses right now, and it started with her role in Juno...she's excellent, and so darn believable in whatever part she plays!

Equalizer 2 - 6/10? I thought it was good, but I haven't seen the first one so I don't have all the info for an accurate review.

I would also like to say that Denzel is probably the most handsome man on earth.

Denzel is probably my favorite actor and has been for a long time. If you liked EQ2 that much you really should watch EQ1, it was really good...so much better than EQ2.

I really liked his Man on Fire where he was a little girls body guard in Mexico and she got kidnapped and then he went bat crap crazy on the kidnappers.

I don't know if I have ever watched a Denzel movie I didn't at least like (Book of Eli was amazing).

Funnily enough, I'm starting a collection of mob/gangster stuff and just picked up American Gangster today, making the talk of how Denzel is the man work for me!

How old are your kids? That sounds like a terrible time. We took our almost 4 year old daughter to see Incredibles 2 in theaters and it went surprisingly well. She was restless towards the end. But I couldn't imagine sitting through another movie after that - for her or myself.

Three and five. It was not great.

Death Wish....had low expectations, and was very pleasantly surprised.  8/10.  Bruce Willis rarely disappoints.

Dude, LOVE that movie.

He's the lead in my favorite movie (Inside Man), but with one exception, I can't think of a movie he was in that I just didn't care for (2 Guns being that exception).

Very much agreed, but I think it's only because his body of work is so strong that it gets lost in the shuffle.

I'm trying to think, but I don't know that I can come up with a "bad" movie he was in.  Above, I said I didn't really care for 2 Guns, and I'd be fairly persistent that it wasn't a "good" movie, but I'm not even sure I'm willing to call that one a bad movie.  Maybe just meaty oaker.

Blindspotting: 6/10. It was interesting, and suspenseful at parts. But mostly fell a bit flat on its intentions, I tji

I haven’t seen all of his older ones, but most. I’d agree with you. In fact, his worst stretch (6 movies) still included Flight and Book of Eli...

  1. Taking of Pelham 123
  2. Book of Eli
  3. Unstoppable
  4. Safe House
  5. Flight
  6. 2 Guns

Most actors would give their left testicle for a "worst stretch" that good.

Unstoppable, Flight, and 2 Guns were just okay I thought (forgot about those when I posted earlier), but with the other three in there, that's still a damn good stretch.

You're all welcome for this Denzel convo. And I agree. He's not just handsome, he's one of the best actors alive.

I loved Flight. And I thought he would’ve won another Oscar if DDL hadn’t made Lincoln that year lol.

2 Guns, Pelham, Unstoppable and  Safe House I didn’t love. But agreed that 2 Guns would be the only potential “flop” in the group.

I can't think of anyone that has had the staying power of denzel.

I also agree that the first equalizer is a hundred times better than the 2nd.

My favorite movies of his are

1. American gangster

2. Training day

Big drop off....

3. Remember the Titans

The one movie of his that I didn't like is Fallen

My wife agrees with you. Her exact words were "Normally I don't find black men attractive, but that is one handsome man."

Her other "favorite" is The Rock, who I pointed out to her was half black half Somoan and she said "Ok, maybe I do find black men attractive".

It was a funny conversation.

Wut?

Anyway, I haven't watched the number of movies as a lot of you, as I go in streaks where I watch a lot over a couple years and then go years with only seeing them if I'm at a friend's and one is on, but I was looking at his filmography and for the ones he's been in that I've seen, he's batting 1.000 as far as me liking them. Might be a smaller sample size than a lot of you have, but most actors (even with small sample sizes) don't have that success rate.

Anyway again, last night I watched the 2010 remake of George Romero's The Crazies. And now I really want to see the '73 original since I really dug the remake to 9/10 levels. Good combination of suspense and gore with a few standout scenes like the funeral home one, the one in the main couple's farmhouse with the family of the first crazy, the pitchfork scene, the car wash scene and the truck stop scene. As well as watching Russell's insanity slowly manifest, wondering how that was going to turn out. Only real flaw was that Russell wound up seeming like the most realized character, overshadowing the leads a lot of the time.
