Did you post some empirical data or research that wasn’t based on your personal opinion/observations and I missed it?

I have before on this thread and other threads in the politics.  But here are some for you:

Pew research: https://www.journalism.org/2017/10/02/covering-president-trump-in-a-polarized-media-environment/

Harvard: https://shorensteincenter.org/news-coverage-donald-trumps-first-100-days/

% of Jouranlists who identify as republican (the link to the study is in the story if you want to really dig into it): https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2014/05/06/just-7-percent-of-journalists-are-republicans-thats-far-less-than-even-a-decade-ago/?utm_term=.b845d17aac73

Pew research showing dem/liberals going further to the left: https://www.people-press.org/interactives/political-polarization-1994-2017/

And then if you want to sprinkle in the anecdotal observations you like to use, Obama got away from any legitimate negative coverage outside of Fox for: fast and furious, IRS targeting, VA scandal, Hacking/NSA, Bowe Bergdahl, using the DOJ as a weapon against journalists, paying iran millions in secret cash, lying to the public about keeping their healthcare plan, potential spying issues on then president-elect trump, etc.

Have you heard of those?  If not, I don't blame you since he merely got a wrist slap for any of it.  I don't disagree that Trump brings some shit to himself, but it is definitely laughable to bring up fox news and pretend their ridiculous coverage makes it an eye for eye with every other main stream media source.

So are you saying the things they are saying aren’t true or that they just cover it too much. Maybe we are talking about different things. What do you think the reason that this is happening if I can agree with you that it is happening? That people didn’t care about those Obama things and news is after ratings and trump brings ratings?

Meh. He brings it on himself with his constant trolling and blatant lies. He can take a policy that I actually could agree with and add so much bullshit rhetoric and lies to it that I wouldn’t possibly vote for it. He brings it in himself and he loves it. U could take every single policy he has proposed and have Obama or kasic or any sane person write his speeches and Twitter and he probably would be loved by both sides but instead he comes off as a wishy washy white nationalist for no other reason than he wants to

I can totally relate to this. He's such a child...

Not really outraged, but definitely perturbed by this.

Man arrested in Florida during traffic stop.  Has sexual-themed phrase on rear-window sticker on truck, ticketed by cop, and arrested when he refuses to remove it.  Charged with obscenity violation and resisting arrest non-violently.  Other than possibly being a jerk for choosing to display something he knows people will find offensive, I don't see the resisting-arrest part, much less the need for an arrest.

Charges were dropped soon after by prosecutors, so sanity ultimately reigned.  Here's the dashcam video, nice clean audio and picture:

So what do you attribute this to? One is a pub an one is a dem? One is black one is white? The way they treat the media? Personality?

I'm not sure what you're trying to say or ask here.  Are you implying the liberal media was in the tank for Obama, and Fox took it easier on him, because he was black?  What does Rush call that - "the soft bigotry of lowered expectations"?

I was asking the question that if it is in fact true that the media has treated trump unfairly when compared to obama, what is the reason?

The reason doesn't even really matter. The mere fact that they are is enough cause for concern.

LOL - how large would the number have to be before you develop even a modicum of healthy skepticism that what you read was bullshit?

That's 10% of the population of Alabama. No.

In 2017, there were 690,000 children who spent at least some time in the foster care system.  443,000 of them are in the foster system on a given day.

But that's nationwide.  All 50 states and DC.

Frankly, I think the foster care system, as well as studies on children in abusive homes, is one of the biggest cases in support of full and total decriminalization of marijuana nationwide.

Fuller prisons and a robust foster care system are not indicators of a thriving nation, and studies show that they do not lead to a productive generational turnover.

China would be proud.  Black Mirror did an episode about this not too long ago.

I just wonder how long it will take for somebody in the US to write a bill proposing this. For "our own good" haha!

*Edit*

A friend of mine just posed this question:

oh cool, does this mean women in Burkha's all have to uncover themselves or have to pay a fine every time they pass by? Most expensive religion ever then

A person wrote it on Twitter it wasn’t an article. They are usually pretty accurate so maybe I misread it. Looking back it was  4700. They also said Alabama leads the nation in death penalties (per capita) but I didn’t post that or fact check it. The point unwanted children don’t get adopted like in a fairy tale that is being portrayed by some. Also an 11 year old girl just got raped in Ohio and got pregnant which I can’t remember if it was in here was called a strawman argument.

Curious where you land on law enforcement's use of facial recognition technology, i.e. the NYPD, vs. San Francisco's recent ban on the use of such technology.

Not as extreme as what the UK is doing in that tweet but I've always been very uneasy with law enforcement's use of facial recognition here in the US, NYC being a prime example. I don't think they use that technology for reasonable law enforcement purposes all the time and its use here is pushing us towards an oppressive surveillance state like the UK.

Folks asking for us not to be like Europe should I guess be cheering Sam Francisco's decision, which isn't always the case for those folks.

I'm personally all over the place with this because it brings to mind many scenarios and ways to think about it.

°If you're looking for a criminal let the cops and detectives do their jobs.
°I think to scan everybody walking down streets is absurd and definitely an infringement of liberty and rights (and potentially religious rights).
°° It's ridiculous that people can be fined for covering part/all of their face like what's happening in the UK, simply for minding their own business.
°There's probably an argument to be made that we are basically succumbing to it already with electronic recording and whatnot. It's as easy as pointing to what Facebook has been doing. It's not the same exact thing, but we don't even think about the fact that FB uses your account to sell to ad companies. IIRC, people on here have deleted their FB accounts with this issue as one of, if not the main, the reasons.
° No doubt there will be people who won't mind it because it makes them feel safer that this is helping the criminal justice system.

Those are just some of the angles that I've been thinking about. I'm most likely not as up on what is going on in NYC and SF as you are so I can't really give you a precise answer.
