we also give thousands in tax breaks for 18 years for those who have children.  how is that fair to those of us who have no children?

I understand the effects. I'm pretty sure I'm OK with living with them as opposed to having daddy bail us out when we screw up. I'm not 100% sure having the age of parenthood increase is altogether a bad thing.

I'm not for bailing out either, just maybe tweaking the interest that can help people pay this debt off. People are still on the hook, just instead of 7% interest, it is say like 2-3% or lower based on the total amount.

I think it is horrible that this whole time the student loan payments have been frozen they also have not been telling people you can pay the balance on the loan interest free.

You also may be good with it, but is has widen economic impact if a large number of people have to either go bankrupt, or really limit their spending

They do offer a tax credit on interest paid on the loans. But, it is capped at a stupid low amount. I used to hit it every year and it didn't really have an impact.

So does writing it off, reducing government revenue, which has the same effects as more billions in unfunded spending.

Agreed. Full fledged writing off is worse.

Of course they won't touch the real problem which is the fact that the federal government has no business being in the lending business.  That should belong to the schools themselves.

And many people would be for eliminating that.  But it's categorically different - taxing people less is very different from a handout (and I realize for some low income people, the child credits ARE a handout).

Musk apparently wants to charge for embedded tweets.  Seems like a good way to kill the platform.

I don’t think there’s anything on Twitter I would pay for.

If the population shrinks to zero, everything else is a mute point.  😉

I'd pay $12/year for twitter if it meant considerably less spam/bots.

With no people, it'd be very quiet, so it would be mute too.

Humans have been procreating for thousands of years without incentives from the government.  If governments really cared about maintaining their population maybe they should not start wars.  Or perhaps ban the killing of babies in the womb.

If you are looking for "fair" in the US tax code you are looking in the wrong place.

Agreed on all points.  My response to Geeblock was tongue in cheek.

Suddenly?  curious word to use.  Also do you think allowing women the right to choose makes you a lib tard?
