Typical thoughts on 1/6 on here.
The fact the only death was a protester/ rioter and not a member of Congress is the big reason it is not universally denounced or touted as a bigger deal.
If a member of Congress would have been injured or killed, then I think we would see more collective opinions on the day.
1/6 was not as bad as 9/11 or PH, because of the lack of deaths, but it was not just a walk in the park either. It was still a low point in our history as a branch of government was breached by an angry mob/ riot. That has not happened in over 150 years. Rioters stormed the capital and thanks for the police and luck no one was injured or killed.
In addition, the inaction by the President at the time, and his advisors pushing the election was stolen, even to today cannot be forgotten or diminished. The fact the Republican party does not squash the idea the election was stolen and in fact allows the crazies to continue to spout the bullshit is a bigger concern.
Nothing has changed since 1/6 as Trump still says it was stolen, his supporters still believe it, and the Republican party still believes it. If Trump run again, he will get the nomination easily, and we will be back in the same situation as he will contest the results no matter what.
