Why is this guy being lauded like he is?  Because he says things that sound nice?  That's what it seems like.

Because he's a Democrat and it's NY.  And he's the only one getting national daily pressers, so they're trying to make him the foil to the incompetent Trump.  Just completely ignores reality.  If USA numbers were like NYC, Trump would already have been removed from office.

I like listening to Cuomo much more - he's a way better communicator and speaker.  And a lot of his numbers could be luck of the draw, global hub, etc...But objectively he has done nothing to warrant praise over several other governors like Dewine and Newsom.  Cuomo dicked around trying to force Trump to issue the quarantine orders, probably so he himself wouldn't have ownership  Yes, you can have different guidelines by city/county and while some people will go to the next town over, most people are homebodies.

But watch the Republicans cave on the next stimulus bill.  It's unfortunate that Trump lacks the credibility and support to tell everyone "we're not putting a gun to people's heads to ram thru partisan legislation".

The Dems won't be blamed.  I don't think they really even care if it makes a longer/deeper recession - if that happens, they take power in 2021 and fire up the printing press.

Just wait until the mayors and governors with cratered budgets come holding hat in hand...The scariest thing about $6T stimulus is it's just going to reinforce the types that think there are no consequences to printing as much money as we desire.

Does it bother anyone that during a "war" House Dems are basically bunkered down barely doing their jobs?  That's what you signed up for - doctors and nurses are still going in and doing their job.  The House Dems are even crying about not being able to remote vote. What a burden to have to show up to vote on a bill from the Senate because McConnell has those people actually doing their job.

My understanding (from my Louie friends, for whatever that's worth) is that they prefer to stay away largely because the Republicans are refusing to take any real measures to minimize the spread (distancing, masks, etc.).

Frankly, if there were a way to record them voting in real time, I wouldn't mind a remote vote.

And herein lies the problem.

The facts, whatever they might be, have become so politicized that the merits of the claims regarding the dangers of the virus have even aligned with political sides.

If someone were walking in there after having been infected with smallpox or typhoid fever, none of us would blame other politicians for not wanting to risk being in proximity of them.  This is probably particularly true if they were not only present while infected, but also not observing even minimal measures to prevent any spread.

Now, we can quibble over whether or not the Covid-19 virus is problematic enough to warrant similarities (that conversation would end up being one of values and, thus, subjective), but the trouble now is that it's difficult to tell which Democratic Congressmen are refraining from being present because they actually have a fear of it versus the fact that it's the party line.

There needs to be a parent in the room who says, "Republicans, quit being confrontational simps and put your fucking masks on.  Democrats, quit being insufferable pussies, and come back to work."

Also can't believe Hillary endorsed Biden today while fingergate is still gaining momentum.  Maybe if the accuser hires Avenatti the liberal media will start paying attention.  I have seen a number of the Hollywood stars condemn Biden on Twitter.  Good for them.  But we all know they'll stop short of demanding he get thrown in jail, and happily vote for him, anyway.

Seriously, how do you even know about this kind of shit if you aren't consuming media all day long.  Is Pelosi a hyprocrite?  Of course.  There's nothing new to that.  But I have no idea why anyone would be watching or even aware of crap like this.  It's like saying to a heroin addict, "PUT THE NEEDLE DOWN!!!" but they just can't seem to help themselves. The thing I can't quite understand, though, is why she would say she didn't report it "out of respect for the Senator".  I don't know if that's PTSD or what, but of all the reasons not to pursue it "respect for Biden" wouldn't be one I ever could have guessed.
