Lol two sides to every story? Don’t even have to get out of the bottom block before it gets retarded.

There's a lot wrong with that, but that was the most egregious I quickly zeroed in on, as well.  But that's entirely consistent with attempting to shutdown debate by labeling people who disagree as racist.  A victim's story is unimpeachable?  Guilty until proven, errr, accusations are proof of guilt?

I also laughed at how "unjust police shootings" are the last step before genocide.  Has anyone coined the phrase "toxic libtardism" yet?

Indifference being labelled racism is nonsense, except to idiots.

Some chick in NY just beat the incumbent who has been there for 10 terms by running with the democratic socialists and running on free Medicare for all and abolishing ICE, but she isn’t the mainstream guy’s!

Just curious. What part do you have a problem with specifically?

Remaining apolitical is racists?

I saw this.  She didn't just beat any incumbent.  Crowley was apparently going to be Nancy's replacement as house leader.  I am still wondering when the "normal" dems will get out of the Trump cloud and realize the DNC is no longer their party.

You're right! She isn't mainstream. It's similar to Dave Brat beating Eric Cantor. Indicative of the rising power of the extremes within our two parties - which we might expect with these legislative districts where the only real threat to incumbents in most of them is from people who are more ideological - but that doesn't mean she's "mainstream".

It is the same as Dave Brat beating Eric Cantor. Crowley - while powerful and relatively normal - was out of touch with that district - same as Cantor was no longer in touch with his.

Saying these congressional races that flip to more extreme candidates doesn't reflect the will of the average GOP voter or the average Dem voter. It would be like saying because Ron Paul could win a single heavy (R) district that he represents the whole party. As the current GOP readily demonstrates - parties can be comprised of multiple factions.

I don't doubt that "progressives" are getting more powerful within the Democratic Party just as trumpism is getting more powerful within the Republican Party - but let's talk when somebody with Ms. Cortez' platform can win the party's presidential nomination like Donald Trump won the GOP's nomination.

What bothers me is that we're seeing these progressive candidates starting to just spew bullshit ideas that will fire up the base the way the Tea partiers do. "Abolish ICE" is the new progressive version of "Abolish the IRS" - it is so fucking stupid. Whatever you call it there has to be an agency that manages customs and immigration just like there has to be an agency that manages the treasury.

You watch - progressives will start trying to say that you're not "woke" enough or a "true progressive" unless you want to Abolish ICE. So fucking stupid.

I'll agree with this. Going to be a bunch of clowns trying to one up each other. Open borders don't work (see Europe; either does socialism but that's pretty self explanatory)

I disagree. I think that, nationally, these things can and must be talked about right now. Those of us that were originally from the left and have slowly edged away from it or kicked out completely by this organic progressive movement must to talk about this now. We should be talkative, loud and spread the idea that this movement is no good and we don't want it. Republicans aren't going to do it. There's no magic wand to wave around. This is something that needs to be done from within, by principled classic liberal type of democrat.

Shouldn't democrats be condemning this instead of cheering it on? Didn't Bernie get a decent amount of support before he was Hillary'd?  The move towards socialism (regardless of absurdities like Abolish ICE) should scare everyone.

I don't know man. As the pew research has shown, democrats in the last 2 years have gone significantly left while republicans still haven't jumped to their extreme.  You have Ellison and Bernie as the face of the party currently.  Schumer and Nancy even condemned Maxine's rhetoric, but they also angered people in the process.  At the very least there is a divide and the "normal" dems are afraid to address it, so they just allow these type of people to chip away at the their basic principles in order to keep their jobs.

Edit:  Also, don't forget that a lot of those people who voted for Trump are people who used to feel the Democrats held their values.

I called this during the primaries in 2015.  The DNC's version of the tea party movement is happening.  Unfortunately, these people are much more full retard than the GOP tea party members.

THe left wants to throw the word "Nazi" around when dealing with Pubs and Trump......when in reality its people like this that mirror more about Hitlers national socialism ideas back in the 30's.

I bet Dems are calling for Bernie to be kicked out of their caucus since she was in his campaign.  I bet she votes on his non party line more then the dem line

It’s pretty incredibly, politics aside, that she won. Crowley was a TEN term (how is that even allowed?) incumbent and raised 10x the money she did. Not to mention, she’s 28 fucking years old.

The video of her reaction when she found out she won was like “oh...shit”. Good luck with that one, NY.

agreed.  She will get to DC and get buried.  Does she have a law degree or PS degree?  Any experience besides working with Bernie?

She's young, attactive, fit and latina....And a Bernie "democratic socialist" all-in on free shit.  Hopefully she's not as braindead or as radical as that party's current leadership, but unlikely given she worked on Bernie's campaign.
