Why would you let them even set camp up there? FFS, grow up and clear out these losers with no jobs. Abolish Ice is the dumbest fucking thing to protest I have ever heard of (probably not but it's up there. Protesting people DESERVEDLY shot by police is up there too)

How about SF looking into banning companies from providing free lunches?  LOL.   If this legislation passes, I would just charge a penny if I were these companies.  Also, I thought liberals and leftists wanted Government to force private businesses to expand their benefits?  Make up your mind.

Yeah, I was going to post about this the other day but got sidetracked and forgot. This is an absurd idea, hopefully better sense will prevail and it will not pass. It also doesn't apply to companies that currently offer the perk, so of course it's only going to hurt newcomers to the market while leaving the established players sitting pretty with a nice perk they can offer that the new company cannot.

There is the whole banning straws dumbass law in some cities in Cali lol. That'll solve anything.

.03% of total plastic waste.

I used two straws before noon today!

Indeed. The US is a minor contributor to overall plastic waste and straws make up such a small portion of that it's hilarious watching cities race to ban them as if they are doing anything but virtue signaling.

This is much like the climate change issue.....

Let's look to the countries that really contribute heavily to greenhouse gases, O2, etc being released to come to the table to discuss meaningful reductions.  If the U.S. is the only country on Earth trying to deal with it, it amounts to peeing in an ocean.

My favorite effect of the outlawing straws in parts of California is that the new Starbucks lid takes more plastic to make than the old lid/straw combined...yup, not kidding...

I think the reason it is "better" is that the lid can be recycled, while the straw cannot. I'd be curious the percentage of waste generated by Starbucks that actually gets recycled, though.

Oh fucking great. I gaurantee she also constantly complains about gentrification in NYC while reeping the benefits of it.

I'd almost say that Asians are the most privileged race in America.

That sums up the majority of people who cry about gentrification.

That was my point. I hear it all the time, from all minorities.

"Ohh great, more gentrification in Brooklyn!" - as they sip their Starbucks coffee from their Bushwick rooftop.

Meet the newest member of the NYT editorial board:

I would think that disqualifies someone from being on the editorial board (hell, most professional jobs).  People are entitled to their opinions....doesn't mean they can't be objective, but the amount of vitriol and bias there says she's probably not capable of objectivity.

Will be interesting to see what happens, as those tweets appear to have been scrubbed?  (they all say "archive")

At the very least, the same sensitivity training that it seems a new baseball player has to take on a daily basis because some dipshit dragged up their 7-year-old high school tweets.

Since when does the NYT need to be objective?

Also, I had to google it, but I remembered that the NYT hired and fired someone within a day earlier this year.

That sounds not terribly dissimilar from this lady, except she's more than just "racist by association".

But lol about NYT being objective.  They pretend to be, and were the gold standard until they lost their shit over Trump.  It's a good thing newspapers are dying because there doesn't seem to be much appreciation for diversity of opinion.

NYT announces they are keeping her. This is why Trump's base loves hating the media. They've earned it

So basically they said "hey remove your blatant racist comments towards white people and we will forgive you."  Ok, got it.

No, I think they're saying "since white males can't be discriminated against, you get a pass".  It's the sort of thing 90% of males who aren't racist or misogynst find offensive.

What a bullshit excuse....was she only "imitating" racist white males, or was that an assumption she made about her detractors?
