2010 Wayne County Athletic League Football

First of all, the freshman safety hasn't been perfect but he is only a freshman and I still maintain he played decent and hits hard. If you want to single out poor performances, there were plenty by "huge talent" upperclassmen as well. You have to play talent, regardless of the 12, 11, 10, 9 pecking order so many seem so upset about.
Secondly, it surprises me how fast everybody is ready to lynch Thut & the staff. This guy took the WCALs most pathetic program of the 90's and turned it around, if anyone around NWN knows football, its him. Have a little faith, he's not trying to lose. Sometimes teams that have alot of potential don't live up to it. Actually, its a common tale across the league and state every year.
And finally, I'm not looking to argue with every Husky Homer, we all want the same thing. We aren't always going to agree and that's fine but when a kid is singled out by name, grade or position HAVE SOME CLASS and keep it positive, don't single out players and place blame. There is enough of that to go around.
Point taken Red. We can talk about the past and how great we were back then, but how does that reference this year? Lets stay this year and talk. Of course we all want the same thing I guess....to win and coach these kids to teach them how to win...not just at football, but in life.

Red Rum;490090 wrote:Enough with Northwestern for now, we really need to get back to talking about Dalton before Luckydog & beverboy run out of midol and get all menstral on us poor Husky fans.

So here we go......I don't think Dalton will be around 20 years from now. Education keeps getting more and more expensive and the cards are stacked against Dalton. They have a very small geographical area thats mainly agricultural (not great for a tax base). The manufacturing base is small and the competition from small private schools (Kingsway & Central Christian) isn't helping matters. The amish, each of whoms home is considered a church also hurts the tax base. A bigger geographical area like Waynedale can weather these storms. I don't think Dalton can.
I think the district will eventually be folded into Orrville or Waynedale. At that point Triway will probably join the WCAL. Any thoughts?......and don't worry about hurting my feelings as I have none.
Triway in WCAL would only make sense.....Good point about the tax dollars and will have a big impact in the future for sure. Sooner than later I think.

Mr Miyagi;489517 wrote:Anyone think that the Wayne County Fair had an adverse effect on their teams in week 4 ? I know that NW had most of the week off with no school because of the fair

Yes.....every kid and parent was worried about how their (insert animal here) was going to do. Even though most teams did have practice, I am sure it was depleted and just trying to get it over with.

My question would be were any of the coaches out due to the fair?

Here are some facts about this group of young men. All but one of the linemen are returning lettermen- all who are capable of executing the blocking schemes. Undersized but quick (and mobile). Both QB's can make the plays-they have good arms and wheels. The receivers are the fastest in the county-lacking size and height but are quick and can get open. The RB's can catch out of the backfield-getting that play called? Good Luck. As far as the quality is concerned-these boys are good, play calling isnt. These kids are talented and experienced. Best linebacking core in the county-they're just in the wrong defensive scheme-that changes weekly according to reports. Our safety (a freshman) is probably the most athletically gifted kid on the field. Here's the dilema-THEY ARE RUNNING THE PLAYS THAT ARE BEING CALLED! THEY ARE IN THE DEFENSE THAT IS BEING CALLED! Give credit where credit is due and place the blame on the right shoulders. Thut is a good head coach-his cast of characters is suspect. Make some gametime and halftime adjustments for goodness sake! We have the athletes- These seniors were the heart and soul of this team for the last three years. The biggest dissappointment this year? Having 18 returning lettermen with unlimited potential and failing to harness any of it due to the egos of the headsets who dont want the spotlight off them because at one time in history they got lucky and inherited a talented group of young men and turned a dismal program around. Half of these coaches werent around when that transformation took place. What can we do to turn this around? Come out and support these young men along with the coaches. HUSKY NATION RISE UP! This week we have Chippewa-go out and play to your potential and the rest will take care of itself. One game at a time.
THE4RINGZ;489637 wrote:The spread offense is very trendy right now but you have to have the right athletes to make it effective. It starts up front, the line needs to provide time and be mobile to get downfield. The QB needs to make quick reads and decisions. Recievers need to run quick routes and have the ability to get open. You need a quality RB with good hands to provide a safety valve. Does NWN have these?

If you don't have those athletes already you have to develop them and that isn't done overnight. By the same token you can't change from a ground and pound offense to the spread overnight either.

But don't run Thut out of Lattasburg in the midst of making these changes. He is preparing for the future and you might have to take some lumps for a couple of years. And during that process you fellow NWN posters need to stay classy and not air your dirty laundry on public forums.
  • THE4RINGZ
Yeah I wasn't critisizing anyone. If you have that talent then maybe the problem isn't the kids. I don't know I saw NWN scrimmage once and thought they had a nice squad.
  • Mr Miyagi
WOW..... Mr. Miyagi just got back from work (rolling pork dumplings..... man i hate that) and see there are a lot of new posts.......
Red Rum..... Ilike your way of thinking but as everyone knows the world is ending in December of 2012 so 20 years is a moot point but lets say just in case we should all be around Dalton absorbed by Orrville ?? Now i may be wrong but wasnt that a real scenario 4 or 5 years back maybe?? if a tax levy didnt pass or something?? or was it the other way around ?? I hope this doesnt happen I dont know what i would do with my Dalton Bulldog tattoo on my arm. I keep looking at it trying to figure out how to turn the orange "D" into a red & black block "O" and just cant see it. I have already had a hard time changing my red Dale Earnhardt tat to a green 81.
Do you really think Triway would lower themselves to join our league? dont you think they get enough of us in their non conference play?? Enough about the future.........
good luck to all this week..... should be some wild games
Anyone wants to talk WCAL philosophy come on down to Wooster Asian Wok .... Sun thru Thurs 3 to 11. I take my break from 7:15 to 8:00. I will fry up some egg rolls on the house, just ask for Mr. Miyagi , they will know who you are talking about and we can talk about any Wayne County team you desire past future or present
  • THE4RINGZ
If you work 3-7 why do you take your break from 7:15 - 8:00?
  • THE4RINGZ
And Triway only plays onr WCAL team in non-conference play.
  • Mr Miyagi
sorry RINGZ 3 to 11. ...... been a long night.......
  • THE4RINGZ
I'll stop in some night. I live just down the road.
  • 1486wd
That wasn't ever a real scenario that i remember. I do remember some people mentioning that, but not anyone in the know. I think they had failed a levy in one election, then they passed it the next go round. But you never know about consolidation. Really every WCAL school is a in some risk of this, who knows. Hopefully it doesn't happen though. I still think you're going to see more administrator sharing before you see consolidation.

WOW When was the last time both Waynedale and Smithville started 0-4?

The season is still young and theres a lot of football to be played. Unfortunately one of these traditional contenders will start 0-5. Now thats a tough one.

Really red rum, midol? I've seen your posts for a few years now, you can do better than that can't you??

Rabbit, I'm not the one that mentioned a player by position and what year he was. Say what you will but
    what I said wasn't classless.

tsst_fballfan;490619 wrote:WOW When was the last time both Waynedale and Smithville started 0-4?

1978 for the Smithies.. Started 0-7 that year, finished 1-9
  • Havin Fun
Waynedale finished 1-9 in 2002 playing a lot of juniors. In 2003 they probably had one of the top 3 teams in WCAL history. Finished 11-2 losing to St. Joes in the Regional Final I think. This years team is very similar but the skill positions may be even younger with a lot of sophmores playing. Going against veteran teams like Tusky Valley, Triway and Rittman have exposed the youth. All is not lost yet for this season. Hope the Bears show what they are made of Friday night. This year can finish decent and the future looks pretty solid.
  • 1_beast
Im still backin my Bears.....I warned of a long season. In reality, the youthful mistakes have cost all 4 losses....cut the turnovers simply in half and the Bears REALLISTICALLY could be 4-0....I am, however a HUGE fan of putting your BEST 11 ON THE FIELD.......
  • George198
I am the father of a former Husky football player. There has been enough talent on the football team for the past 2-3 years for them to make the playoffs or at least play better then 500 ball. These boys work way too hard only to be handcuffed by there own coaches. The somethings that didn't work last year are the somethings not working this year! CHANGE IT UP!!! Someone posted that it's not Thut its the coaching around him, isn't the head coaches job to make changes when somethings not working, including his staff!! The 3-4 defense is not working. My god, teams are averaging 250 yards rushing agents us, CHANGE IT UP !!! The same 2 or 3 plays on offense aren't working, CHANGE IT UP!!!!!
The bottom line is I see two reasons why this team is not winning and the teams in the past were not winning, COACHING AND PLAY CALLING!!!!!! The talent is there, and has been for the last few years. If the coaches are not willing to make the change, then maybe the coaches are the ones that need changed!!!

    I AGREE WITH YOU 100%

George198-Don't hold back, tell us how you really feel.

Luckydog & beverboy-sorry, midol comment was a recycled cheap shot. I'll do better next time.

Beast-Forget Football, I have a feeling Husky wrestling is gonna get some payback this year!!!!

Miyagi-works at asian wok? More like.... sucks asian (rhymes with wok)

Big game this week is obviously Dalton/Hillsdale. 50/50 should be nice. Make sure you buy your tickets on the Hillsdale side.
This should be quite a game, if Daltons speedsters can get the corner at will, the Falcs are in for a long night. On the other hand, if Hillsdale can apply their clock eating power run game with a dash of Ryan Moore, the Dawgs will take a long ride home on RTE 30. I'm guessing what happens will be somewhere in between which will probably be a hard hitting slobberknocker. Can't wait for this one.

I also am stunned by the 0-4 start of the Bears and the Smithies. I agree with 1_beast about playing your best 11, regardless of class. I also like how Mr. Miyagi posts in the 3rd person. BRF likes to do that, too!

Oh, I forgot to add that that thing about Dalton and Orrville consolidating was for real. It was a clever tactic used to get their levy passed.
  • 1_beast
lololol Red Rum...RedRum?? Red Drum...its a little fishy... Bears anticipate as many as 8 freshman starting varsity this year on the Mats....so ...all i can hope for is a solid season and no injuries. Wins take care of themselves. Oh..and the Huskies SHOULD get revenge this year....this is the DREAM TEAM that was loaded with freshman 4 years ago.....just dont count your chickens before they hatch ;)

Red Rum"s dad.........the kids are reading this forum too...... i think your post is going to make coaching a lot more harder...... NWN needs to show some solidarity, some positivity...... the kids could get behind that....the fans should get behind that, nothing worse than working hard at practice and come home and hear from the adults that all the hard work you are doing isnt going to work.
Maybe if you feel so strongly about "change" and the last 3 years you should have a sitdown with Coach Thut and let him know your true feelings and how you think you can help the situation. Mr. Miyagi thinks ,why not go on the NWN Football Facebook page and voice your opinion where you can't hide behind a screen name,,......dont tell us about change we cant do anything about it ..... posts like yours and rabbits are only causing more bleeding when we should concentrate on stopping the bleeding.
NWN definetly doesnt need to run Thut out of town. Do you have a name of any previous coach that has done what Thut has done and stayed around the program instead of jumping ship? All teams will have some down years, are people calling for Coahces head in Smithville because they are 0-4 ? patience george san

Mr. Miyagi thought that Dalton / Orrville rumour was true a while back. What a way to get a levy passed...... No offense.. but do you think if all schools would threaten to consolidate with Orrville that all the levies would get passed ????
