Thats kinda crass. Bears are hungry and may upset the Apple cart in the Creek. Dump Triway on their domes. triway could very easily be 0-2Alum01;1809881 wrote:Triway bye 4 touchdowns, players beat them bye one score and coaches beat them bye 3 more. I would be up for a pick em, just wondering if WACLFAN is???? -

WCLfanSmithville is going to have to shore up the pass defense before next week, Fairless receivers were running WIDE open most of the night.. Otherwise Thut will have a field day next week.. Disappointed in the D-line, wasn't able to get any pressure on the Fairless QB.. Gotta get healthy and hope the D turns it up!!

O-TrapFor starters, I didn't see any games, and I'm only going on the scores and a few updates.
O-Trap;1809558 wrote:Chippewa: They'll have their way with Tuslaw. Sometimes, early in the year, it's hard to figure out if you're playing a quality opponent or not. I think we're far enough in to say that Tuslaw is down and Chippewa is up.
It looks like I was either wrong about Tuslaw or wrong about Chippewa. Maybe it was just a matchup issue? The score is shocking.oldsmithie;1810268 wrote:Chippewa 17 Tuslaw 14
O-Trap;1809558 wrote:Dalton: I think Clearview has shown quite a bit of promise, and while Dalton is on the upswing, I think they're a little further behind. Clearview should win, and they might win by a lot.
I was wholly and completely wrong on this matchup. I don't know what resulted in the three touchdowns' difference, but it's three touchdowns. There's only so much you can do to justify that as being a "closer" game in person.oldsmithie;1810268 wrote:Dalton 35 Clearview 14
O-Trap;1809558 wrote:Hillsdale: They beat Ashland Crestview, who isn't exactly a scrub. Loudonville is rebuilding. This one could get really ugly.
Again, I was wrong. Like the Chippewa game, I don't know if I overestimated Hillsdale or underestimated Loudonville, but either way, I bet this was a fun game to watch, based on their usual brands of football.oldsmithie;1810268 wrote:Hillsdale 20 Loudonville 14
O-Trap;1809558 wrote:Northwestern: This will be the game of the week, I believe. Columbia looks sharp, as does Northwestern so far. Should be a good game.
Columbia was looking like a tough team this year. The result of this game has me thinking Northwestern might be the team to beat in the WCAL.oldsmithie;1810268 wrote:Northwestern 22 Columbia 7
O-Trap;1809558 wrote:Norwayne: Even at 1-1, I think they'll be fine against Firestone, who has lost in two blowouts against two admittedly good teams. I don't think Norwayne will blow them out, but I think they'll win by a pair of touchdowns.
Finally, I kinda got one right, though you might be able to call this one a "blowout" with 3-plus touchdowns.oldsmithie;1810268 wrote:Norwayne 32 Firestone 8
O-Trap;1809558 wrote:Rittman: Rittman may come into league play a 3-0. After drubbing Richmond Heights and edging South Central, I like them against another 0-2 team.
It was a close game. I was off, but I don't feel as bad about this one.oldsmithie;1810268 wrote:Mapelton 34 Rittman 26
O-Trap;1809558 wrote:Smithville: They'll win by a pair of TDs. My guess is that they'll play a sloppy game and that they should actually win by at least twice what they actually win by, but they'll still get to 3-0.
Instead of a pair of TDs, it was a trio of them. Still, from what I've heard, they did play a somewhat sloppy game on defense. I was close on this one, though I'm not sure what they should have won by, having not been there.oldsmithie;1810268 wrote:Smithville 35 Fairless 14
O-Trap;1809558 wrote:Waynedale: I can see this one being a close game. I will probably still say Triway wins, but it wouldn't shock me if it was by less than a touchdown.
Once again, I was dead wrong.oldsmithie;1810268 wrote:Triway 42 Waynedale 17
I obviously have no idea how the league is going to shape up. At best, I give myself a half-right on Northwestern, a right call on Norwayne, and a half game on Smithville. That's a 2-for-8 record on the week.
Under the circumstances, here's how I see the league playing out:
1. Northwestern
2. Chippewa/Smithville
3. Chippewa/Smithville
4. Norwayne
5. Hillsdale
6. Dalton
7. Rittman/Waynedale
8. Rittman/Waynedale -
1_beastWell that didnt go as planned. Whats next? Where are the Bears focus? Blocking? Discipline? 8 -3 in penalties....wo the turnover battle

oldsmithieI thought I would have a better handle on the WCAL teams at this point. Smithville has a lot of work to do on pass defense!!!! got burnt many times! Smithies also have a very BAD kicking game! all aspects of kicking game need work. Waynedale will be the upset team this year, the bears will ruin sombody's season. Hillsdale is solid but seems they only played "ok" against Loudonville. Dalton had a solid game against Clearview, I was not surprised as Clearview was Dalton's only win a year ago when the Bulldogs went 1-9. Chippewa does not seem to have the same firepower as they did a year ago, but Tuslaw is not as bad as their 0-3 start. Northwestern seems to be the team to beat and they take on Smithville next Friday. Norwayne is a team on a mission (after losing to Orrville) and will have something to say about how the league shakes out. It is going to be another interesting year in the WCAL and my money says a tie at the top.

1_beastBears are young, but have the Jimmie's and Joe's. They played a very stout non conference schedule. I look for them to upset a few teams that are looking by them. I guess we'll see. I saw a potential win last night, then Triway jumped out 21-0 in the first quarter. Was pretty even after that. Bears won the turnovers, but lacked in discipline and not so clean play in racking up 8 penalties. A few were not good and I was disappointed in the kids that commttied the fouls.

Hunter86I think the bears played under their potential this week & will get it together next week.
We have a lot of positives & should be able to make adjustments to our game plan to get in the win column & show some Bear Pride. -
oldsmithieA Big week coming up for the WCAL as we open league play! Here are the match ups any thoughts?
Chippewa at Norwayne
Smithville at Northwestern
Waynedale at Hillsdale
Dalton at Rittman -

Two really good games this week. Smithville/Northwestern will be good as will Chippewa/Norwayne. Hillsdale and Dalton should have no problems this week winning handily.oldsmithie;1810530 wrote:A Big week coming up for the WCAL as we open league play! Here are the match ups any thoughts?

UrADorkI see the Chipps getting smacked all over the field by Norwayne ... Northwestern is going to do the same to Smithville ... Hillsdale will route Waynedale and I think I will go with the upset and pick Rittman over Dalton.

oldsmithieNothing surprises me much when it comes to the WCAL. The days of the Big 3 are long over as the league is much more balanced these days. Smithville is pretty healthy going into this game against the Huskies. Northwestern is pretty explosive on offense and will air it out. Smithville is going to have to maintain ball control and that will mean stepping up the short passing game. I think that Waynedale has the potential to make the Hillsdale game very interesting, I watched the re-play of the Bears/Titans game and Waynedale had flashes of being a very good offense. I think that Norwayne has more firepower than Chippewa. Dalton seems much improved this year and will run all over Rittman. These are just an old mans views of this weeks match-ups. May all the teams stay healthy and free of injuries this week.

el choppoMy picks are
Dalton - Rittman is still Rittman

My mission remains the same and I will continue to do "everything I can" to accomplish it...
