Wayne County Athletic League Football 2015

I feel what separates Norwayne from the rest of the league is their line play on both sides of the ball. I think Miller is a very good back, but he gets a lot of help up front. He reads his blocks very well, and allows the hole to open before entering the line. There is no other team in the WCAL that plays as well, or as consistently up front as Norwayne. Norwayne is fundamentally sound, and plays smart football. That being said I'm not sure how deep they go in the playoffs. I think if there is a big physical team they run into, they will have trouble. I've said it before, and still believe this; the league is good and balanced, but it's not as strong as many think. Of course it comes down to matchups, but I think most of the teams go down in the first or second rounds. There are just too many weaknesses, or inconsistencies among them. Of course Norwayne has the best opportunity based on line play. Just my two cents.

    Please elaborate??

Also, not only is he big, but when Miller breaks free, he has speed. Bobcats go as far as Miller carries them.

i said in the 4qt, if u saw the game then u know smithville owned them in the 4qt down 13 and score 14 in the last 10 minutes of the game. we did what we wanted and they could not stop us.... plus we left at least 3 more td off the board with fumbles and missing on a 4th and short in the red zone.... its nice to see all these teams fighting for the playoffs. it would be nice to have 4 or 5 make it. but that probably wont happen.....

It's Norwayne. It will get covered up.

If it's what I think it is, that rumor has been around a while. One already served, and nothing on the other. Nothing more to it now.

Seriously? Three more TD's? Then Chippewa must have left at least five out there...lol.the fact is Smithville owned the end of third and fourth quarters. They didn't quit and Chippewa did that night. End of story...nobody blewout, coulda blown out, or shoulda blown out.....Chippewa dominated first half, and Smithville the second...end result 1 point.

If the Chipps had played their potential this conversation would not be happening ... Good luck to Smithies in playoffs ...

What do we think of the match ups this week between Chipps and Huskies and the Bears and Smithies ...

It will be tough for Baum, or anyone else, to win at North Canton. Who knows if he would be interested in returning at this point.
I know for sure that he put his name in the hat when it came open...And he didnt even get an interview. Indorf also had his name in the hat. Shame! Just an outsiders opinion.

Chipps roll big, Bears & Smithies a toss up? Could be a barn burner or a blowout either way.

Turnovers will be key in the Waynedale Smithville matchup. If the Smithies can force Waynedale into a few mistakes and control the clock, they could see a home game in week 11.... Fun fact, Smithville has forced just 4 turnovers in WCAL play, 3 of those were against Rittman. Less mistakes made against the Smithies as Hillsdale, Northwestern, Norwayne and Chippewa all had ZERO turnovers against the Green Machine!

    Good fact!

I can't give any. Wcalfan will negate anything i say.

You are right (yes I actually said that)...you can't because YOU don't give FACTS on here. Just look a few posts up from here, where you claim that the Norwayne running game "is going to suffer immensely". You were asked to elaborate and you wouldn't...because...you can't support your statement. Hence....it is not a FACT. If you could support that statement with indisputable evidence then, my friend, you would have a FACT.

Bears had 4 turnovers. FACT. Do your homework and you may find some things out about Norwayne. Apparently the running game will be in the clear, however there are "issues".

Shame? More like a travesty. Both of those guys are very good coaches. I guess the current state of their program is a self inflicted wound then. If they wouldn't even interview Baum or Indorf, I doubt they make a change this offseason. They won't find better candidates than those two.

I'll be catching my first game this year on Friday. I had to catch a Smithville game this year, and I figured Waynedale would make for a good game.

From the sound of it, the Bears have sort of a Jekyll/Hyde thing going on. That can make the game hard to predict, because you don't know who is going to show up.

I have a feeling it will be a close one. Here's hoping it's not as close as the 2003 matchup between these two. My heart can't take a close game like that one.

In any case, it's pretty crazy that it's week 10, and there is still only one team that has technically been eliminated from the playoffs already. Obviously, there are some longshots, and there's no way the seven who are technically still in it will make it, but it's pretty incredible that half the league or more isn't already eliminated, as it normally is at this point in the season.

Is the big "secret" the 2 Norwayne players that have been removed from the team? It was in the paper on Saturday. I am very concerned about the Wayndale/Smithville game this Friday!! Smithies need to get it together. The Smithies are physical up front but have been burned by the pass alot this season. Hoping for a good game and no injuries!!

Hearing that Smithville & Norwayne have inquired to Orrville about the possibility of playing week 11 game at Orrville.

Hoping it's just a contingency...why would you give up a week 11 home game? But I guess Norwayne has done this in the past moving playoff games to Cloverleaf.

I have been over to watch Smithville twice this year at home and their playing surface is in BAD shape. They need to really consider having that surface redone in the spring by a grass management company. That would be one team that I could see moving their game to Orrville just because of the field conditions...but like RR1 said, Do you give up a home playoff game? I can't see Coach Besancon giving up home field advantage.

smithville's field is in such bad shape because there are boys and girls soccer jv and varsity. 7th and 8th grade games, freshman games, and jv games all on the same field...next year that will change when the soccer programs will have there own field!!!(thank god!) but a new surface is not a bad idea... now who wants to pay for it...lol
