Chippewa will score enough in 1'st Q to win this one
Norwayne over Waynedale by 10 Cats defense is better than the bears D which will be the difference Both offenses will score.

I'm with Havin Fun's picks. Can't wait to see next weeks game Norwayne vs Chippewa!
  • thePITman
    Hillsdale 24 Smithville 20
    Waynedale 35 Norwayne 21
    Dalton 59 Northwestern 42
    Chippewa 63 Rittman 7

Smithville must be much better than I've been giving them credit. Sounds like Hillsdale had to come back to get the win. Man, the WCAL is deep and competitive this year! Sounds like it was an exciting game!

So much for Norwayne's offense being just like Triway's. LoL. I think Waynedale made a statement tonight.

Dalton getting a big win over Northwestern in one of the tougher games to pick this week.

    Chippewa did what we expect.
  • Havin Fun
The Waynedale win surprised the heck out of me. Shutting the Bobcats out the second half was huge. Norwayne can run the ball. Their passing game was below average in my opinion.

Sans one game, it sounds like it was an exciting night of WCAL football.

Was sad to hear my Smithies lose late in the game. I didn't go, but I was following along with Dorksen's tweets. I'll be curious to see what Fath did tonight, as the passing game has been unusually good (for a Smithies team) this year. Seems odd for them to get shut out for a half after hanging up 20 in the first half.

Then again, I'd say the same of Norwayne, based on what I've heard of them as well. It sounded like they'd done so well the last couple weeks. Weird to hear that they got goosed for a half.

101 points scored in the Dalton win over Northwestern. 101. 101? Someone has obviously replaced these teams with college West Coast schools.

The Chippewa win over Rittman was to be expected. Still, I hope the Indians make it a fight in the conference going forward.

It really is not a big surprise to many of us at all. AT BEST, many Bear fans thought 2-1 would be a blessing. All the "hype" that you are talking about on here didn't come from Waynedale fans. There is still A LOT of football left to play...let's just all take a deep breath and relax....:RpS_blushing:

    Norwayne over Waynedale
Chippewa over Rittman by half time

The next three weeks will tell us who wins the league this year. However, just some insight and banter over the previous posts. I got a chance to watch a replay of the Chippewa vs. Tuslaw game from last week, and had a few take always. In reference to Red Rum stating that Norwayne was the most balanced; I have to disagree. Chippewa did not really open up much, but they have at least 4 backs that can go the distance, and that does not include Britenstine. In addition they have two receivers on the outside that can really run. Norwayne seems to be a one horse team in my opinion.Chippewa looked a little soft on defense, and had way too many penalties. After seeing them play, I think I'm switching to Chippewa as my favorite to win it. They have the best player in the league ( people forget how good of a DB he is), the most diverse offense, and it seems few teams in the league play lights out defense. I had to chuckle when people said how playing Triway is going to help Waynedale. First, nobody in the league runs the system Triway does, and secondly giving up 74 points sure as hell isn't a good sign regardless of who you play. Also, I don't think it will be easy for Waynedale with these games back to back, and Norwayne will be spent as well. Chippewa will be well rested, as the starters will be done early. Wouldn't be surprised if they are already prepping for the Cats.

This sounds even better after tonight's game.

The non league schedules varied so widely that it made it tough to gauge who are the best teams in the league. Could Dalton be the best wih their only loss to a really good Garaway team? Chippewa is 4-0 although there are probably six other league teams that would have the same record if they opened against those opponents. At this point I think the only team that is out of contention is Rittman.
What is even more exciting is several teams are loaded with underclass men. Norwayne, Smithville Chippewa and Waynedale have very few seniors in uniform let alone contributing. These kids will only get better as the season roles along.
    Lots of fun each week.

WCAL....were you not 1-2 going into last night? It was silent out in "The Creek" after the Bear d held them to 74. Yea I thought Norwayne would win last night, but if you read, I thought he Cats were untested, and not proven. In fact one guy proceeded to tell me that Norwayne's offense sounded like Triway's and I laughed. I will say one thing you criticize everyone, including your own fans, but boy you run and hide when you get beat. Keep talking it up, because in two weeks you will have your hands full, and then we will have to put out an APB for you. :RpS_flapper: I know you like these characters, hope it brightens your day!

Is it just me or would others prefer that we stick with football and stop the petty feuds? No one on here is an expert at anything. JMO
Back to football. Dalton could be the sleeper with the only loss to Garaway team that easily handled Ridgewood last night to go 4-0. Sounds like the Bulldogs are big on the lines and can run the ball. Mainly seniors which could give them an edge as well.
Man this is going to be a fun season. Game of the week has to be Chippewa Norwayne next week. Where is this game being played? I may have to catch this one .

My "stupid" post wasn't meant for you at all but it sure did get you riled up, didn't it? Did I hit a nerve there? Hmmmm:huh:.....come on....I am just kidding you. Like I continue to say on here..relax and take a deep breath...there is STILL a lot of football left to be played.

I didn't run and hide after our Triway loss at all. Look back and see...I posted 2-3 times last week. Trust me...you will NEVER have to put out an APB on me. I will always be here. The reason I got on this forum was during our 0-10 season and our "faithful" fans (like our 35 year veteran resident) got on here and did nothing but point the finger at our coach. However, the following year (last year) we go 6-4 and all of sudden he can coach. Really?

I do know that we will have our hands full in 2 weeks but we will have our hands full next week and just about every other week this year in the league. We are just happy to be on the same field with some of these juggernauts. Hopefully we will just forfeit the game in 2 weeks and not even have to take the field. That would probably be the best thing for us.

I do want to hear from Buckz#1 and see if he still feels we need to "re-evaluate" what positions we have our players at? Or if we should have blitzed that BIG LB we have more often last night? Just curious....

I think it all comes down to the game in two weeks. I didn't see the game last night, but based on some conversations, and just reading the paper, it seems one team made adjustments and one didn't. Talked to a few people from Doylestown, and they know their schedule has been weak, but they feel they have been overlooked a bit. That game is going to be a war.

It was nice to see that the Bears play someone other than the "chosen 4" that can catch & who actually got some playing time.

He turned out to be a big play maker on both sides of the ball.

How many other big difference makers might we have lurking along the sidelines waiting for their big debut ?

Hard to plan a game strategy being an opposing coach when someone under the radar makes game changing plays.

Keep 'em coming Bears........we have a lot of great football to play this season !

    Great game guys !
