Wayne County Athletic League Football 2014

  • Dr. KnOiTaLL
With just a month left in the school year, it's time to start looking ahead to Friday nights in the fall. Lots of young talent returning to the league this year after several perennial powers have graduated. Chippewa and Waynedale return many player from last year's successful squads, Dalton has a solid core of players that have significant experience, and Norwayne has some young talent returning as well (although they graduated a large portion of their offensive production). It looks to be an exciting fall with some talented young groups improving on last years campaigns.

How are the off-season programs looking for your teams, and early predictions for league champs and MVP? Can't wait to see some pigskin this fall!

I thought that was you with the umbrella !

The kids sure had fun doing their individual best without the drama of the other sports & their coaches favorites.................................: thumbup:

What are you babbling about now? Thank god this is it for you...at least on the boys side. Still have another year on the girls side with your vomit.

Coaches favorites huh? WAIT...if you are referring to "favorites" as the ones who play because they are BETTER, then you are actually correct. Are those the "favorites" you are talking about?

Here is the sad thing...many upperclassmen parents(not you beast) played the "favoritism" card the last couple of years and it really got old. Here is a thought.....wouldn't it have been much more fun if you would have treated it differently and helped your son to understand that playing with younger, TALENTED, kids is actually a good thing and we could accomplish great things??? NOPE, your ego got in the way. Also, maybe if you would have taken that approach your son would have worked even harder to make sure that his "spot" wasn't taken by a "favorite". No, that isn't the way we do it in society any more. We point fingers at EVERYONE else.

And the "drama" that you are also referring to will be much less because of your absence (along with a select few others) because our future group of parents understand what it takes to be part of a TEAM and don't focus on "individual best".

You make this way too easy....

Congratulations...you are the ring leader of a group of parents that will go down as one of the most NEGATIVE groups in the history of the school....: thumbup:

The atmosphere sure is different during that sport isn't it? The competitiveness and commitment is just beaming from that coaching staff, isn't it? Maybe they should lead our football program? WAIT, I think I have heard that from someone on here before.......

    Meh...........here we go again !

Mix up a fresh batch of the Koolaid for the newcomers.

Here's to a great football season : thumbup:

No need for Kool-Aid. People who understand anything about athletics can see who the "favorites" are and why they deserve to play.

Let me ask you this...you were at basketball games this past winter. When was the competitiveness and energy at it's highest during games? When we had 4 seniors on the floor OR when we had 5 sophomores on the floor? Be honest!

I also saw you at a few baseball games...who were our best hitters, fielders, and playmakers? Be honest!

There is nothing wrong with it being underclassmen. Just think again of how much fun it would have been for you parents to buy into the TEAM concept. It is soooo sad! Like I have said on here before about you...one day you will regret how NEGATIVE you were these last couple of years.

If you would get your head out of its resting place, you might notice that the track team is having one of its best years in quite awhile.

Many personal bests, a first in the county or 2, as well as topping a long standing Waynedale record in the 400.

The boys team coming in 3rd (out of 17 teams) in the West Holmes invitational says a lot about the coaching & where that particular program is headed.

As for their commitment, those coaches are among the most well liked (by students & parents both) of any in our system.

What outstanding records have our football coaches put together in the last few years ?

Oh wait, how could I forget that all time football record set in the 2012 season ???

(You know the one that may someday (hopefully not) be equaled, but never broken)

If anyone is spewing vomit, its got to be you, only because you're puking on the truth.

Like I have said on here many times...YOU make this way too easy!

The boys track team had an ok year. They did break the 400 dash record, which was broken by a .......what did you say? I can't hear you!!! Yes, that's right a sophomore. Are they playing "favorites" with him? (Be careful what you say about sophomores...it could "hit close to home" for you). However, not to take anything away from him BUT he did break the record on April 13th by running a 49.27. Has he broken 50 since then? I honestly don't know. But he ran a 50.2 this past weekend at the county meet. Shouldn't there be improvement throughout the year? Where does the motivation to improve come from????? AND by they way, we had ONE first place at the county meet. Last year we had TWO first places. We finished in 5th place this year and 6th place last year. We did score over 20 more points this year as a team which shows some improvement but is that really something to get all excited about? Being among the most well-liked coaches of any in our system doesn't mean better results. Remember...nice guys finish last. I want you to sit in on a track practice then go sit in on a football/basketball/wrestling practice and YOU tell me who gets more out of their athletes. The track is a ghost town by 4:30 pm. Hang around the football practice field/gym/wrestling room and they are still getting after it well after 5:00 pm. Those coaches wouldn't be considered the "most well-liked" however, their athletes will tell you they learned a heck of a lot from them.

You understand it isn't about "records", by you saying that just shows your true colors. However, let's look at football. They were 0-10 (0-7 WCAL) 2 years ago and were 6-4 (4-3 WCAL) this past year. NOW....I am not a math whiz but improving to 6 wins from 0 wins is quite an improvement in my eyes...just saying. We were in last place (8th place) 2 years ago and finished in 4th place this year...hmmmm...ok. Boys track was 5th this year and 6th last year AND girls track finished in 8th place last year and 7th place this year. Again, nothing against the "well-liked" but......we are the results?

Am I still "puking on the truth"? :RpS_bored:

So wise one, what are your predictions for the 2014 football season ?

Better than last year ? or are we in trouble ? (how could we be ?)

Any promising incoming freshmen phenoms from the Jr high program ?

    I'm going with a .500 season prediction.

Time will tell how it plays out.

As for track we would have scored better at county if everyone was as healthy as they were at the early part of the season.

5-5 huh? To me that would be a BIG disappointment. 7-3 or 8-2 are very realistic. There are a couple of incoming freshman that aren't bad but no phenoms.

I know we were "beat up" in track here recently but you know what they say about "ifs"....IF my aunt had a ____ she would be my uncle.
  • Dr. KnOiTaLL
Haha, love it! Here we go...

I see the Bears being a very solid team this year returning a large majority of their playmakers. Many underclassmen got significant experience last season (much to the dismay of Hunter), and that should only help heading into this next season. The important thing will be that they don't look past teams, because they certainly will be one of the favorites heading into the season.

Can Aug get here soon enough? We have coaches ready to say they turned it around. We have parents saying (no @#%#) and a community just hoping. It's the almost the class that will make EVERYONE (player & COACHES) look good, from what I hear is the family tree will continue to grow on the bear sideline, which is great they should all be apart of this it's all that has been talked about for years. Lets get Waynedale back were it belongs.
  • eyes r burning
County champs or bust is what I'm hearing, the line is there, RB and QB will break records behind this line if the stay healthy. Break out the bear gear the creek will be rocking come end of October!

As much drama as there has been in Golden Bear country the last couple years, they certainly have to be one of the favorites to win the league. Chippewa will be tough as well, but you've got to like the squad Waynedale is returning to the gridiron this fall!
  • Dr. KnOiTaLL
Curious how many upcoming seniors are on each team's roster and how many returning letter winners? I'm sure none of us have access to that type of information, but would be nice to start some discussion around here.
  • 1_beast
Chippewa fan told me they will win the WCAL and their only concern is Waynedale. No lie! He said he looks for them to be 9-1 or 10-0.
  • Old Rider
Norwayne won't compete for the title? I thought that they had a good frosh class coming?
