Agree Dean! Sad day when you see that a Sepesy leaves Struthers. And Struthers has a good chance at another winning season or better. But nothing anyone can do. Cant believe the parents even allowed the very thought.BigDean1;1406962 wrote:That being said, young Mr. Sepesy was a pain in the keaster for our Red Devils. Too bad he is no longer part of our long rivalry. Or course I wish him nothing but the best.
But it has happened to Campbell on a yearly basis. we are kind of immune to loseing kids to Ursuline and Mooney. Hell i seen a Sorento on Struthers team last year. But the parents preach Soup City on there Facebook. Loyalty on there Facebook to Campbell. Yeah loyalty is as only good as long as it don't have to do with the schools we went to. -

Thanks spread. Yeah!! I went to school with his father. Frank Serrano! I was best friends with him also in the late 80's and into the late 90's... I could never get his last name right. I use to call him Steal. Or coke bottles. I hung with the rough crowed back then..... Until my Ex wife got tired of our them trashing the house on a weekly basis. I use to live on Hawthorne street. I was married into the Horvath's and Louk's. -

reddevil90Ok since this thread has went a bit off topic. Ill try to get it back onto topic.
Has anyone got some news about how the team is doing as far as numbers so far. I know they are hitting the bars good. they did that last year and it didn't show on the field. I have heard there could be up 40 50 players to start out this year. Do we have a clear cut Qb this season? What about the lines? We lost some size last year. and Speed should still be our bread and butter. Coaching better get these kids to understand this is a team a family. Not a show off competition. Who is the offencive coach this year? what about defense? Has there been a change there also? -
BigDean1One thing I have learned about Campbell football from one season to the next is that nothing is absolutely certain. There is very little that can be counted on. That's why I have learned to wait until August. I can say one thing regarding last year. I was told prior to last season that the kids were really hitting the weights hard. And when the season began, I noticed that many of them, including nearly all of the seniors on the team, were out of shape and were lazy. There may well be good numbers in the weightroom again. But among those numbers, how many seniors are there? And if there are seniors there, are they leading? Campbell has never found the groove it had when Coach Rozum and his staff ran that weightroom. Our kids are not strong enough physically, are undisciplined, and are nowhere near as physical on the field as they need to be. About the only thing that can be counted are the negative issues. There will be eligibility issues and problems with discipline. Last season Campbell started the year out with 45 players on the roster. By the end of the season the roster was down to 28. Ineligible players, injuries, and kids with no dedication all contributed to a 6-4 season and missing the playoffs despite playing in a mediocre league. If Campbell could find a group of kids that can keep their collective heads on straight, they would dominate the league. Finding that group of kids is easier said than done. A football coach can only do so much. The kids have to want to be successful and must be willing to make the sacrifices it takes to get there.

reddevil90Damn Nobody talks football at Campbell anymore. a little over 4 months away from kickoff guys... What's going on with the team and coaches? Anyone?

Is your 2013 schedule full? If you still have any openings, call Steubenville. I think we still have some holes to fill.reddevil90;1429548 wrote:Damn Nobody talks football at Campbell anymore. a little over 4 months away from kickoff guys... What's going on with the team and coaches? Anyone? -

The schedule is full for the coming season. Personally I don't believe many, if any Youngstown area schools are going to be interested in scheduling the Big Red until the current head coach is fired or leaves on his own.FairwoodKing;1430352 wrote:Is your 2013 schedule full? It's the same old news. I've heard the kids are working hard in the weightroom and that leaders are emerging. That's what I've heard for years. I have yet to see the hard work in the weightroom being transferred onto the field. Last season I saw many of the kids out of shape after the same things were said. I believe all of the coaches are back with the possible exception of Coach Zetts, who is retiring from teaching. But just because he is retiring from teaching does not mean he is going to quit coaching.reddevil90;1429548 wrote:Damn Nobody talks football at Campbell anymore. a little over 4 months away from kickoff guys... It's the same thing everywhere. A school in Philadelphia signed a contract with us and is now trying to get out of it. I hear rumblings from Ursuline that they are also trying to get out of their contract. Also Cleveland Benedictine. Heaven only knows what our schedule is going to look like this year.BigDean1;1430389 wrote:The schedule is full for the coming season. Zetts is gone, Johnny Bayuk replaces him as OC.BigDean1;1430392 wrote:It's the same old news. I've heard the kids are working hard in the weightroom and that leaders are emerging. Can't be any worse. I'm sorry. I know people will disagree. But he changed every single game. The Girard game a few years back was one of his greatest offensive game calling. and the other girard game when we only made one pass attempt. But then the following games it looked like they changed the whole play book each week. Rozum just ran it down their necks. week in and out. thing of beauty. Miss you coach Rozum...scoreboard;1431629 wrote:Zetts is gone, Johnny Bayuk replaces him as OC. -

I heard. That Campbell has got some speed but lack size in the places they need bad. We are probably going to have a rough start. And with Struthers first game? This sucks. I wish we had them last game of the year. that way we could get these kids built up for the game. I don't know how the season will go. As far as i know and was told it doesn't look like a promising season. But this came from someone who is in Struthers but knows Zettsy.... And claimed to talk to him.scoreboard;1436398 wrote:..... -
FairwoodKingI would like very much for Campbell to play Steubenville again. You are one of the few teams that does not have a losing record against us. In fact, we are dead even at 4-4-2. Contact our AD and get this series started again.

BigDean1
Correct. But those wins came in the 1940's. Campbell - Big Red would have been a great matchup in the mid to late 1980's. Both schools had kids who were cut from the same cloth........................hard-nosed, gifted, dedicated athletes, blue collar towns filled with pride for their football programs, huge fan followings. Campbell has a way to go to get back to where it once was.FairwoodKing;1442158 wrote:I would like very much for Campbell to play Steubenville again. You really want to try to go through Struthers after they'll have gone through the likes of Hubbard, Poland, Canfield, Niles, Howland, etc? If you think Struthers has an advantage now, with little to no build up... Campbell doesn't really play anyone of that kind of calibur.reddevil90;1442146 wrote:I heard. I still say if Campbell is going to upset Struthers, they'll have a much better chance of sneaking up on them in week 1.
Campbell still has quite a few talented players... Adrian Brown being at the top of the list.
Any idea yet, Who THE qb might be?
Looks like Struthers will be in D4 when the new divisional alignments are announced, and Campbell is projected to drop all the way down to D7... -
Spread All DayBest Struthers team in years. Mark it down now.

No doubt! You may have to go back 25-30 years to find another Struthers team this loaded.Spread All Day;1442588 wrote:Best Struthers team in years. Mark it down now.
However, Niles is on the rise. Howland and Poland stil have our number. Hubbard has quite a few D1 calibur players. Canfield is unlikely to stay down for very long.
I'm working on a preview for a Struthers Football 2013 thread for here and JJ's site. I should have it up soon. -

Campbell will remain in D-5 for the coming season, missing dropping to D-6 by 2 boys.BTrev;1442587 wrote:You really want to try to go through Struthers after they'll have gone through the likes of Hubbard, Poland, Canfield, Niles, Howland, etc? Are the actual Divisions posted yet, or is that inside information?
All I've found is projections, but nothing official.. -
BTrevOops! Disregard that last post.
I got it! -
OhioStruthers game will come down to conditioning just like last season when the doors flew off in the second half, also their entire line returning will hurt the devils.
