oh yeah!!;1313196 wrote:also attended the game friday evening and since the topic is being discussed. What about the late hit on the last int of the game? watched the replay and clearly one of the husky players dove at another player from behind taking out his knees. i am actually surprised there was not more of a bench clearing brawl at that point. I hope all are ok, but sometimes we need to remember these are teenagers playing the game and they let their tempers get the best of them. good luck to all remaining county teams out there!
That happened right in front of me and I thought it was really really really bad. Should have been ejected. The only intent of that was to seriously hurt someone.

You too, Pit. It was nice having a knowledgable impartial voice of reason nearby. Everyone seems to be anticipating a Norwayne/Brookfield regional final, but Manchester and Liberty shouldn't be overlooked. Keep us updated on the Manchester game.

    Where to start?
Hogger53;1311912 wrote:Oak Hill beats Hillsdale 29-26, or should I say Hillsdale beats Hillsdale...
    This is pretty accurate.
Hogger53;1311912 wrote:That 2nd half was absolutely pathetic!! Got completely out coached in the 2nd half and it started with the second onside kick. Williams still left his regular return formation in after the first turnover and finally went to onside kick formation after that..
When you go to the "hands" team you usually replace the front line. The guys in the secondary are already "hands" people. The secondary was the ones that could not cover up the ball the first two times and it took three of them to get on the ball the third time.
Hogger53;1311912 wrote:Lets see, if Im Oak Hills lets pick on poor number 32 all night cuz he's completely outmatched (and has been all yr at corner) but hey he doesn't need any help apparently we love seeing you score all your TD's tonight from pass plays. Good kid just not a defensive back. Where the heck was the double coverage on Oak Hills number 28!!! Nowhere to be found.
Hillsdale's pass D has been suspect all year. No need to single out just one young man.
Hogger53;1311912 wrote:Icing on the cake, it look liked the center forgot the count on 1st and goal from the 1, cuz the entire line jumped before the ball was snapped (jumped offsides on defense all night too).

We have switched centers back and forth all season trying to find the right combination. Was it the center or was it the line. Judging by the way the D line jumped all night I would guess that the Oaks were saying something to draw them and may have also on the play in question.
Hogger53;1311912 wrote:Some of the fans were ticked off about the interception to end the game, but as far as Im concerned Corbin is a sophomore who made a mistake. I was more ticked off about the play call itself, trying to get cute on a play in that situation was ridiculous!!!
I agree, the interception, it happens. IMO having a sophmore as our star RB and main go too guy says a lot about the depth of atheletes on this team.
Hogger53;1311912 wrote:Oh well, Im actually glad this sorry excuse for a season is over... had potential just choked. IMO, next year Ryan Bee is the QB he actually ran over 2 kids on that terrible fake punt call and was hurt the play before that and was even signaling to the side lines not to call that play. He made the first down not the coaching call, the kid has a good arm descent speed and is just flat out a beast.
There is a lot that can be discussed here but I will not. I seriously doudt that Bee will be QB next year. My money would be on Corbin, which would open up a whole lot of possibilities for the option if enough other pieces could be found.
Hogger53;1311912 wrote:Someone please find the real coach Williams and bring him back, cuz this one just hasn't been getting it since the 2nd half of the Loudonville game.

Which Coach Williams would you like?
The coach that threw almost every down his first season with a team that hardly knew what a pass game was.
The coach that every one in the WCAL knows for crazy kick off and PAT formations.
The coach that on-sided the the initial kick off of the Western Reserve game (just like he did Saturday, which did not surprise anyone near me) and then the ensuing kick off after the score.
The coach that surprises no one on our side when he runs the Mongolian Montage.
The coach that called the Hillsdale version of the immaculate reception versus PH at Bowling Green.
I could go on and on. You want the "old" Coach Williams, the Williams I have watched for the last ten years has always called "crazy" plays at crazy times. You just want them to always work.
I believed at the beginning of the season this team was a 6-4 team. They did better then that. They made the post season, the third time in four years and the third time in school history. They had a good year.
There is a lot of things that play into a successful team, talent, intelligence, hard work, commitment to the program, and parents and community that support the kids and the coaches and stay out of the coaches way.
If placing bets today, I would say we are looking at 5&5 next year for a mix of the reasons I just gave to a successful team.

I'm with you guys on the hit from behind after the pick 6. That was blatant. The kid should have been tossed. The hit where Berger and #32 collided looked clean. I would rather these guys go lower when they're tackling but it happens alot. The woman that yelled from the stands is hopefully ashamed of herself. We cant judge averyone based on the actions of a few. We should know that as well as anyone. We had 1 kid make a fool out of himself on film last year and many people thought that was the character of our team. That couldn't have been further from the truth. The majority of our kids are outstanding, hardworking respectful young men. I'm sure the majority of Northwesterns are too

Go Falcons, I'm surprised you would be willing to say "We are looking at a 5-5 season next year, or that you wouldn't be surprised if it happens" that's the problem with our community, and has been forever. The willingness to accept mediocracy... that doesn't win championships. So your rationale for the 5-5 season next year... the kids have mediocre talent, average intelligence, only work half as much as they should, 50% commitment to the program, and as a parent I should accept the 5-5 record and say "Gee golly by gosh doggie, what a nice average season we just had." :-) Just having fun with ya, you big bell ringer you!! :-)

WCAL is a bush league. The fans from Norwayne, Smithville and Northwestern lack class, brains and the will power to have only one sandwich. If there isn't a big & fat store in all of these places, someone is missing out on some major profits.

Rittman, Dalton, Chippewa and Waynedale should become soccer schools because american football is absent at these places. The truly funny thing here is only one of them can get last place. All would be last in most bad small school conferences.

Is Hillsdale even in Wayne County? I'm sure Orrville is and they would fit right in to this pathetic conference. The amusing fact about that is the Red Raiders couldn't win the WCAL either.

The WCAL should thank its lucky stars they have Norwayne. It's their only hope of success in football and they are lucky they are riding that gravy train known as region 13.

Where are you from to be such an expert on the goings on in Wayne County?

You should go back to the hole you crawled out from.

Oh yea, Region 13 really sucked last year (lol).

    LOL!

Yeah, the WCAL schools are the ones that lack class, but you're a shining example of class right here, aren't you?

I do not settle for meritocracy. I see our talent level next year as not being what it has been the last couple of years and that is the main reason for my prediction. Talent levels change, it happens to all teams. A few years ago 5-5 would have been a great season.

There are however other things that effect this team that do concern me. When a large number of players need to be at study table before they can practice to maintain their grades, it effects the team. When a fan yells "come on..... you have to make that play" and a parent takes offense to it for picking on their kid, even when that fan is the first to yell "way to go...." when they make a play, IMO we have a parent that is more concerned about how their kid looks than how the team does. When we have parents scream at other parents because of what a young man did or did not do on the field, we have a real problem! I have to believe this attitude is not restricted to the stands, but is passed on at home to the players.

The success at Hillsdale was first achieved because an outstanding coach made the kids believe they could win, and then showed them how. I have seen first hand how a group of young men who lived as brothers off the field translated that to success on the field. Preparing and playing not for themselves but for their team mates. This has lead to the success for Hillsdale. That success has drawn attention to this program. Now we see kids and their parents that are more concerned about the scholarships and attention for themselves then they are for the team. I see parents that are more concerned about having team dinners on Thursday nights then they are about that final practice before a game. This is and will have a detrimental affect on how this team preforms.

If we do better than 5-5 next year, I will be the first to celebrate and to say I was wrong. I hope I am wrong! I hope to always be their to celebrate the success of the players on the field. It's why I do what I do, it is not for the fans or myself, it's for the ones on the field so they know we are there for them.

Go Falcons, I agree 100 percent with this attitude that " My kid is doing everything right and your kid is doing everything wrong" I heard about the unfortunate altercation between 2 parents after the game. If that has been going on all year, then it explains alot about the inconsistencies this team showed through the season.
