I thought fhey may use Raines in Chase's rb spot and have someone else run the offense. Maybe not.shadowrider;1310058 wrote:It's true we are undersized but we were also very young. If all those sophomores were playing JV like they should have been our JV record would've been better than 2-6. Did playing those kids make a difference at the Varsity level? I don't think so. There were some Juniors who could've been playing instead of a Sophomore and no one would know the difference. They Sophomores could have learned to win together as a team and then they'd be ready for next year when they match up physically. The way I see it Burke will be the QB next year. Why would you think any differently? As far as Clark goes I'm not sure if he's willing to put forth the effort required to make some noise at the Varsity level. He's always been the bigger kid but now they're catching up to him and he really doesn't like to get physical. It was obvious against Hilsdale.
Hope you continue to support the Dawgs. Whichever screen name you choose to post under. -

Raines is not a power runner. IMO he goes down too easily. McFarren will be able to fill Moyer's shoes. -

I heard it might be Maltrich...... -
Hogger53Jmar25, you hit the nail on the head. If a parent brings a child into my ED, I immediately inform them that their son is not to have any contact sports until cleared by either the family practitioner or a neurologist. Just too much liability these days.
Besides, I'm not about to expose a kid to a crap load of radiation just to say "Ok some microscopic bleeding in the parenchyma of the brain" bla, bla, bla...etc LOL. Lawyers have made life miserable and impractical! However, iIf a kid come in and says they just have a headache, no blurry vision dizziness or vomiting, then I would clear them to play. Problem is, the parents who usually bring kids to the ED, the kid has more than just the headache. -
WCALfootballfanI've heard the Shrock rumor from 3 different sources. 2 of them are from Smithville

Chippewa has some good young talent over there. It would be nice to see what Shrock could to with it and maybe make the Chipps a more competitive team. Plus I'd like to see Shrock screw Smithville. lol
On another note, where is everyone going for playoffs this weekend? I think tonight I am heading up to Manchester and tomorrow I'm going up to Chardon Notre Dame‐Cathedral. I already know whats going to happen in Lodi. PAIN!!!! -

I was originally going to go to Manchester/Hawken, 'cuz I think that'll be a closer game than Norwayne/Northwestern. But I want to see Norwayne in person, not just on TV, even though I'll get to see them again next week, or the week after (hopefully).Ref-Dawg;1310404 wrote:On another note, where is everyone going for playoffs this weekend? According to the article in The Daily Record Chippewa AD wants a teacher who is in the building every day. Schrock isn't even in the state every day.Ref-Dawg;1310404 wrote:Chippewa has some good young talent over there. thePITmanBy the way, what is the ticket situation for the Norwayne/Northwestern game tonight? A co-worker is a Norwayne fan that has been to every game. I mentioned the possibility of a sell-out, and he freaked out and wants to know if he should go to the school at lunchtime and get his ticket. I'm not sure how big Cloverleaf's stadium is... assuming it's NOT going to be sold out... but I informed him that he should be buying his tickets pre-sale so his school gets a portion of the $$.
Can anyone confirm with 100% certainty that we should be able to get tickets at the gate tonight? -
OQBI can't see either school or the OHSAA turning people away....you may not get a seat, but they are going to sell as many tickets as they can.
Pitman, you mentioned it though...if we have to pay these ticket prices, you might as well help out the school and buy presale tickets, instead of letting the OHSAA take it all at the gate. -
Jmar25
I've got a question for you. Should we get a baseline test for every kid then? I still feel that without visible signs and no baseline to go from.... How do we know that it is a concussion? Those neuro guys are just like any other doctor doesn't want the liability.Hogger53;1310368 wrote:Jmar25, you hit the nail on the head. Also since you seem to have knowledge in this area. How low of a drop in baseline skills/tests are in the "concussion" realm? -
thePITmanJust got off the phone with Norwayne HS. The lady said tickets are on sale at the HS until noon, and that there WILL be tickets available at the gate.
-
Hogger53I don't think every kid that comes into an ED needs a head CT, which is one way to differentiate between a concussion and a head bleed. There are different severities with concussions, some kids just have minor symptoms that only last a few hours, while others may actually have post concussive syndrome which has more profound symptoms that last for weeks and in rare cases months.
-
1486wdI did understand your post. The bottom line is you just don't know, so you Are crazy to take the risk without knowing. If you wonder if it's a concussion, stay out of the game, get checked out and move on.
-
oldsmithieTrust me, Schrock will not be taking the Chippewa job.
The concussion issue is more prevelent today than almost 40 years ago when I played. We played the game very differently than it is played today. The rule changes over the years have taken some of the saftey away from the game. Years ago, if you lead with your head or did one of these missle launch hits, it was concidered "spearing" and it was a penelty and you could get tossed out of the game because it was considered playing dirty. I know it sounds like I should get out of the "way back" machine LOL! -
855prideif shrock gets offered the job he will take it. he has already picked a staff out to go with him. just waiting on a call now

MOUNTAINBEARShrock at Chipp! Now that would be interesting. Especially if they started hanging one on the Smithies for awhile.O-Trap;1310577 wrote:I might have to become a Chippewa fan 9 weeks out of the year.
