2012 Wayne County Athletic League Football

I to say not unless they win the Title, but this 2012 squad is much more balanced offensively and defensively. The 2011 squad was Great and obvious champions, which I believe everyone in the League is respectful of. At the same time they were much more one dimensional kinda compared to this years squad. The 2012 Bobcats are a very smooth flowing and precision squad aka "well oiled machine" Will be a shame if they don't repeat. Best of luck from Falcon Country.thePITman;1299299 wrote:So... I'm finally considering asking this... is 2012 Norwayne better than 2011 Norwayne? -

If they repeat, I will say yes they are as good, and the way they are playing you could say they are, but last year when pressure was put on Wallace, he had the skills to run the ball and run it well, also had the option with 2 Zimmerley boys to also run the ball. While I believe Dreher is a better passer then Wallace was, he does not have the running ability that Wallace had. When Norwayne plays a team that can put constant pressure on Dreher, that may be their undoing. Bishop Hartley from Region 14 will probably be that team. It won't be this Friday against the Huskies. Norwayne will probably win that game big. It's been fun watching them the past 2 seasons, and I'm looking forward to another deep playoff run. I wouldn't call it a shame if they don't repeat...another nice run should be expected, but nothing to be ashamed of if the gold trophy doesn't back home again! I'm not saying they can't do it...but its even harder a second time around! The target on their jersey is much bigger this season! Good luck Norwayne in the playoffs!Falcon;1300944 wrote:I to say not unless they win the Title, but this 2012 squad is much more balanced offensively and defensively. I agree. No matter how good a team is, repeating shouldn't be expected, and definitely isn't guaranteed, even if the new team is better than the previous one. It'd be one heck of an accomplishment if they were able to. But there are some darn good teams out there, and every champion needs a little bit of luck along the way.Old Rider;1301871 wrote:I wouldn't call it a shame if they don't repeat...another nice run should be expected, but nothing to be ashamed of if the gold trophy doesn't back home again! Great teams ... even the best team, often slips up somewhere along the way. It's why so few teams win back-to-back titles. I don't know for sure if they were the most recent team to do it, but I can't think of a team who has done it since Kenton in 2001 and 2002. Oddly, I think Amanda Clearcreek did it just a couple years prior, in 1999 and 2000, but it's hardly the rule for a good team, great team, or even the best team, to do it twice. -
MikeP17So I'm new here but I've been reading this thread for awhile now and I have to ask...... Now that the season is over who do you guys think are the wcal's best lineman??????

I do not know about an individual, but Norwayne has the best line in the league hands down.MikeP17;1302032 wrote:So I'm new here but I've been reading this thread for awhile now and I have to ask...... Now that the season is over who do you guys think are the wcal's best lineman??????
To me a lineman is only as good as the guy next to him. -

This is why football is a TEAM sport! No position works well without the rest doing their job.855pride;1302828 wrote:to me a running back is only as good as the line that opens holes for him -
MikeP17yes i know it was a typo, Norwayne vs. Northwestern should be an amazing game! also intrigued about dalton vs. smithville this week. i might have the pups in this one if they can negate the big passing plays, which fortunately for them, smithville doesnt do much passing.

mompov
Dalton will need to keep the penalties down. The offense is starting to come together well, the defense improving, but still needs work. If Smithies are down a little, given home field advantage...it's possible for the Bulldogs to win. It would be a great encouragement to this team of mostly juniors/sophomores going into next year.MikeP17;1302990 wrote:yes i know it was a typo, Norwayne vs. Northwestern should be an amazing game! also intrigued about dalton vs. smithville this week. i might have the pups in this one if they can negate the big passing plays, which fortunately for them, smithville doesnt do much passing. -
PaulOk time to say it. This is Wooster, Orrville week and the winner always declare themselves king of Wayne County football. I say let Wooster and Orrville take their best 15 players off each team and they can practice for Five weeks while Norwayne plays for the State Championship. After the Championship Norwayne will play the combined team on Orrville new field. I say Norwayne desire to win would win. Thirty of both teams best would out number Norwayne best but you only play eleven at a time. Your thoughts.

Trent Richardson sucks, can't figure out how to play in the NFL and he will be injury prone all throughout his career. Weedon sucks too, like a deer in headlights and he has had decent pass blocking.OQB;1302836 wrote:See Trent Richardson and the Browns. -

Hahaha!! It'd be hard for Adrian Peterson and Arian Foster if they were getting hit behind the line on 80% of their carries. Richardson is a stud, but has had nowhere to run. And since we're always down, he's never really had a chance to ice a game. I think he's our 2nd best offensive player behind Joe Thomas. So glad we spent our draft pick on him.Falcon;1303200 wrote:Trent Richardson sucks, can't figure out how to play in the NFL and he will be injury prone all throughout his career. As a Steelers fan, I'd be for than happy for the Steelers to take either one of those off your hands if you don't want them. Weeden would be a backup, of course, but he's actually pretty good. 5 of his last 6 games, his completion percentage has been 58% or higher. In those games, he's got 9 TDs and 6 picks. He's not a Pro Bowl quarterback, but it seems like the Browns fans are the only ones who don't get that most rookies aren't going to be Pro Bowlers. He's definitely better than a few other starting NFL quarterbacks (Blaine Gabbert, anyone?).Falcon;1303200 wrote:Trent Richardson sucks, can't figure out how to play in the NFL and he will be injury prone all throughout his career. As for Richardson, I'm betting the Steelers would GLADLY take him and start him his first week on the team, so if you're looking to unload him ... -

1486wdThe Dalton smithville game is definitely interesting. Smithville is clearly the favorite as they have played the huskies, falcons a little tougher. That being said, the bulldogs have gained some confidence and got a guy or two back thAt were injured. Mompov makes a good point about some penalties that short circuited a couple drives last week. The secondary is mostly sophs that remain prone to mistakes. Quentin Raines has emerged as a nice complement to Moyer. The bulldogs will need to limit the big running play by the smithie speedy backs to have a shot. Looks like good weather.
