I agree with everything in this post, and it's incredibly nice to see a fan recognizing the stellar play of this line. Honestly, that was what impressed me the most in the State Championship game last year. Make no mistake; the whole team stepped up and played big, but those three guys making Mauk run around all day were key to him not having the game he was capable of having, and the protection that Wallace got on offense led to his ability to make some of those key passes.Bobcat;1299326 wrote:Norwayne's line has been absolutely outstanding. Dreher's shirt was clean at the end of the night. I dont think Hillsdale ever touched him. As for the team and Jon's record, it was his night. The coaches obviously decided they were going to get Zimmerly the record tonight. I wonder what would happen if the decided to feature the passing game during a game. Dreher could potentially throw for 500 ....maybe 600 yards. They have almost named the score in every game they've been in this year. Congrats to the Cats. 1 away from 10-0
This year's line seems little different. Stepping up and doing what is required ... being the best line in the conference by (in my own opinion) a long-shot. -

He won't be by the end of the regular season. He's not going to break any regular season rushing records, but on a team with the kind of discipline that this team has, I doubt he cares as long as they're winning.1_beast;1299330 wrote:Zimmerly is great! POY!

Just sayin.
Ask any player whether they'd rather be on the best team or hold an individual record, and I'm sure you know what they'd say, as you've been a parent and fan of these high school athletes for awhile. -

Mr MiyagiRed Rum and I decided to brave the rain and head to the Norwayne/Hillsdale game tonight. I was truly impressed with the Bobcats. Congrats on a well played game.
For those of you that were not there, picture this.....the Hillsdale band comes to midfield to play the National Anthem and because of the torrential downpour, the horns wouldn't play, the drummers couldn't keep hold of their drumsticks and there was this awkward silence as the flag was raised without the music. I removed my hat and started belting out the lyrics as loudly as I could and slowly the Hillsdale side and then finally the Norwayne faithful joined in. It was truly a special moment that I will always remember. -

1486wdNot sure if they are better, but they are close to as good. Their competition in the league is not as strong as last year for sure.
-
thePITmanI think one thing that will go a long way to showing us how good Norwayne is is when they are faced with adversity, how they handle it. Last year Norwayne was down to Hillsdale late, came back and won. Back-and-forth with Girard, won a thriller. State championship vs Kenton, won a thriller. Gotta be able to win the close games. They haven't had one, yet, though. Having a close game this week - win or lose - could be what they need.

Hillsdale had nine turn overs which made things worse but Norwayne is for real. Norwayne by three scores.thePITman;1299294 wrote:34 rushes, 324 yards, 4 TDs in 59-13 win at Hillsdale. That's huge, and I think Zimmerly about wrapped up the WCAL POY award. However, I don't anticipate a similar score next week. Northwestern's much more dangerous offensively, IMO. Norwayne will still be favored, especially after the butt-whooping they put on Hillsdale and their big line. But I can't imagine Norwayne beating Northwestern by 46.
Yes, Wallace last year had the heart to lead his team to the Championship. This team is more rounded and has it even more together than last years team.thePITman;1299299 wrote:So... I'm finally considering asking this... is 2012 Norwayne better than 2011 Norwayne?

It will take Hartley to present this team with adversity, they are that good! I texted a Norwayne friend last night and asked him to save me a seat in Massillon!thePITman;1299385 wrote:I think one thing that will go a long way to showing us how good Norwayne is is when they are faced with adversity, how they handle it. They didnt have too many close games last year except loss to Smithville and they seemed to handle it just fine.thePITman;1299385 wrote:I think one thing that will go a long way to showing us how good Norwayne is is when they are faced with adversity, how they handle it. was_that_itCongrats to Norwayne, they manhandled the Falcons. Somtimes a team is just better. Norwayne was better at every position. They have a special team. Zimmerly is the real deal.

I dont see anyone ion Region 13 beating them. Where it will get tough is when they have to play the winner of Region 14. That is the best Region in D4. They will have to play the winner of Bishop Hartley, Ottawa Glandorf, Genoa all of which would be the favored team over Norwayne. That being said a lot like last year that wont matter on that night. It will be the team that executesthePITman;1299385 wrote:I think one thing that will go a long way to showing us how good Norwayne is is when they are faced with adversity, how they handle it. wcalfanSo? Tell me what elevates them considerably above the competition? Parents?
It's called TALENT Mr. Golden Bear. Something we just don't have right now. I haven't wavered from that ALL YEAR.... -
oldsmithieCongrats to the Bobcats. I did not think it would that much of a blowout! I really don't see the Huskies hanging with Bobcats in next weeks game. Smithville at dalton this week, one ends up at .500. Smithville was not impressive last night! The Smithies need to play with a little pride this week! Wow the Bears took it on the chin again this week.
