Mr MiyagiBiggest game of the year so far in the wcal and no one is talking about NWN @ Hillsdale. Where's everyone at?

My Smithies having played a half with each (tied at the half with Hillsdale, leading at the half with Northwestern), I've gotta give the edge to Hillsdale.Mr Miyagi;1285753 wrote:Biggest game of the year so far in the wcal and no one is talking about NWN @ Hillsdale. Where's everyone at? -

Everyone left. Remember, we didn't talk football, so the smithies posters took over, they have since gone MIA.Mr Miyagi;1285753 wrote:Biggest game of the year so far in the wcal and no one is talking about NWN @ Hillsdale. Where's everyone at? -

There might be some truth in that... Waynedale started the GREAT DEPRESSION of 99'-01' under Richie.... Sayers came in and Waynedale had a record setting team a year later and had great teams until the last superintendent and Richie again.....Old Rider;1285663 wrote:Maybe its the Jon Ritchie disease...Rittman + Orrville + Waynedale = SUCK!
WOW! I NEVER THOUGHT OF THIS!!! I think we should ask that Richie step down and hire Seder as our Super... Crestview just had their own record setting team last year... (This year.... is the complete opposite... but they have at least won a game and been in contention all their conference games...) -

Hillsdale has proven they are a good team. It will be interesting to see just how good northwestern really isMr Miyagi;1285753 wrote:Biggest game of the year so far in the wcal and no one is talking about NWN @ Hillsdale. Where's everyone at? -

How has Hillsdale proven they are a good team this year? They have not beat a single good team yet? Bucyrus is 3-3 with wins against bad teams and losses against good teams....99bobcatdb;1285956 wrote:Hillsdale has proven they are a good team. Manchester is 4-2 but look at the schedule they played... They beat bad black rivers, timkens, and tusky valley. I'll admit I don't know anything about woodridge...
Northwestern... HAS ALSO PLAYED BAD TEAMS! Now... They were beating a solid Mogadore team but.... lost.... Their best win has been Smithville.... (WHOOP-ED-DEE-DO!)
This game will however distinguish a WCAL runner up and knock one of them out of the playoffs. -

Hillsdale can still make the playoffs if they lose this game. Fantastic50.net has them at 79% chance to make the playoffs with only 6 wins, 89% chance with 7 wins. They currently sit at the #1 spot in the rankings by a whole 1/2 a point. They are in good shape.Jmar25;1285963 wrote:How has Hillsdale proven they are a good team this year? Manchester is a very good team. Woodridge is very good, also, demolishing CVCA 55-0 and their only losses coming to SVSM and undefeated Mogadore. As long as Manchester and Triway win this week, next week should decide the PAC champion.
I've spoken to a few people that have seen both Hillsdale and Northwestern play, and I've gotten conflicting stories. One (Dalton fan) says that Northwestern is the better team and should beat Hillsdale, and the other (Smithville fan) says that Hillsdale is the better team and should beat Northwestern (but mentioned Northwestern matches up better and has the better chance of the two to beat Norwayne).
I obviously can not and have not seen either team play this year (other than Northwestern in a meaningless scrimmage). But I get the sense that Northwestern has much more balanced on offense, with explosive QB, RB, and WR, as well as a defense that has made plays. On the other hand, Hillsdale's offensive line is very, very good, they have a good RB or 2, and they are pretty good at what they do. Can Hillsdale's D-line dominate in the trenches, forcing Northwestern out of their comfort zone and disrupt the offense? Can Northwestern's front 7 stop the running game and use a balanced offense to keep Hillsdalle off-balance? I dunno. -
1486wdI would actually give the slight edge to hillsdale (slight). I think hillsdale has a slightly better d. Noletti is flat out dangerous though. Definitely wouldn't put money on this game
-
oldsmithieHillsdale seems to have the better defense at this point. Northwestern was not good in the first half against Smithville last week, but did great adjustments at the half. If the Huskies cant get the passing game going, I don't see them winning this one.

That is nuts. That region is not the way it was last year. Hillsdale had a better team last year and got left out yet this team could lose more and still make it... I'll believe it when I see it but those odds are very favorable.thePITman;1286020 wrote:Hillsdale can still make the playoffs if they lose this game. It was definitely unfortunate last year that the Falcons missed out. However, their non-league schedule this year is much different. A prime example is that instead of having a 3-7 DVI school like last year (Mapleton), they have a 4-2 DIV school (Manchester). Big difference.Jmar25;1286115 wrote:That is nuts. Last year, arguably the best team in DV (Ursuline) missed the playoffs after beating DIII state champ Mooney in week 9 and DIII regional finalist SVSM in week 10.

This year, arguably the best team in DIII, Mooney, has just a 25% chance to make it to the playoffs.

Go FalconsI believe the biggest danger for Hillsdale is if NWN can get their passing game going. Our secondary is suspect at best and has not yet seen a real pass attack.
Williams has lost once at home to NWN. 2006 NWN (10-1) Hillsdale (4-6) 13-6 in OT. -
Hogger53Go falcons, missed the bell last week... Hope to hear it this week!! Hoping the Falcons can pull this one out. Should be a great game, so close to call. Just hope for an injury-free game. Best of luck to both teams.
-
855pridecalling a SLIGHT edge to Northwestern. the QB RB attack they have is gonna determine this one. you get NW pass going, it opens up room for that RB they have to go and go good luck to both teams in a close fought game.

was_that_itJmar25, Hillsdale is a good team. Are they dominate...no, not in my opinion. Norwayne is dominate, Hillsdale/Northwestern are both good. Last years Hillsdale team would have done damage in the playoffs, but their schedule was weak, and the region was stronger than this year. This Hillsdale team has a ways to go before a long playoff run should be thought of. As a fan I can think ahead, the boys better not. Manchester very well may be the PAC champ. No offense PIT, your Titans are headed for a buzzsaw!
Speaking of Manchester, Gofalcs, I would say they had a "real passing attack". We pressured that QB and that saved us, IMO. I aggree the secondary isn't a major strength for this team.
BTW, PIT good stuff on your site, I appreciate reading your thoughts each week.
For anyone that cares I went to the Lexington/Madison game last week, good game, hard hitting, offensive struggle though. Wasn't overwhelmed with either team's size or talent level compared to the small, country schools I have seen play this year. Hillsdale's roster numbers were about double Lexingtons, Lexington had a ton of guys going both ways and it was out of neccessity. Haven't seen anything like that out of an OCC school in quite awhile. -
ghostriderZuercher will be removed after a loss to the Chipps (rightfully so) or will resign at seasons end to save face. I'm not sure a new coach CAN right the ship. It will be a 3-5 year process. Z might could fix it, if he wasn't so self centered and bullheaded. That is why kid quit...quit playing...coaches quit. The student body is lost, the coaching staff is lost, the team is lost, the community is lost. IF Z steps down....I pray we don't get....well....

eyes r burningHope the district looks for a leader (look it up that's not a great guy). Has to be a people person, relate to all, you think these other coach's in the leauge are are dealing with the same teenagers. It's time to stop blaming the kids and the parents and put it where it belongs. Before youe reply wclfan call norwayne and hilldale and ask them if they have any teenagers and parents in there district.
Love yiu buddy! -

Walt DisneyNorthwestern vs. Hillsdale
Edge: Hillsdale
Hillsdale's offensive line and defensive line will dominate on Friday night. With Northwestern's best lineman around 220 pounds and Hillsdale's best offensive lineman at mid 260 pounds and two other lineman around 220 pounds, I expect Hillsdale will have their way with the Northwestern line. Hillsdale will have no problem running the ball on Northwestern.
Regarding the Dalton fan who thinks Northwestern is a better team...
How can you say which team is better if you only saw each teams starters for 20 minutes... I'd take his opinion less seriously than the Smithville fan who saw a competitive game vs both teams. -

1486wdThis Dalton fan gave the edge to the falcs. Dalton actually was able to move it a little on the huskies, before imploding. They did not move it on hillsdale much at all. Again, I did not see a big difference but little edge to hillsdale.
