DIV State Semi: Norwayne vs Johnstown-Monroe @ New Philadelphia

beatobamaMuch of that came late too. Just not a physical presence like I was expecting. Normally, a stud rb usaully plays a large role as a lb on defense as well, but when he was in on defense he played a soft corner. Yardage he gained was mostly on perimeter off option pitches. Good back, but plays more of a speed game. Physical is more like whwn your qb is one of your inside backers!! Why do the Johnnies take their best athletes off the field on defense??
-
BirddogGreat game for sure for norwayne # 26 & 41 clearly the best players on both sides of ball. 45 runs the show but those two guys make it happen. 26 & 41 just tough players. Will need to be on their game next week. I agree with who ever said 26 is X factor because he is that for sure. 41 very dynamic player. Good luck cats bring it home.

No your wrong he had less than 40 Yrds in the 4th the bulk of his yards were in the first half, we did not have the ball much in 2nd half cause you guys took control, hey I give credit you guys are the better team kicked our butts, but don't say Franklin got most of his yrds against 2nd string you know it aint true, your D had trouble but your coaches made good adjustments we did not, the question about players not playing D do not know we asked that all year was not much of a problem till you guys exposed it, your Qb stud good Qb tough to contain. Good luck next week.beatobama;988944 wrote:Much of that came late too. Just not a physical presence like I was expecting. thePITmanWhat a game last night! Wow. I thought Johnstown-Monroe had an edge coming in, and, they DID gain lots of yards on the ground. But Johnstown-Monroe's inability to throw the ball really hurt them. With as fast as Norwayne is, I was really surprised they got beat to the corner on the option as often as they did. J-M's QB and RB were really, really fast, and very capable of the big play, which I was not expecting from a running team. They got a few big plays, but they were limited and had drives stall. I knew Norwayne's offense was good, but they put on a clinic last night! Fun to watch.
I had a lot of fun at the tailgate with Ringz, 1_beast, Big Falcon, and some strangers who read this site and decided to stop by. I hope you all had fun. I sure did. I'm probably going to the game next week. Want to do it again? -

Pit: I was one of the strangers - thanks for the bratwurst that you gave my brother. It was nice meeting you. Your kindness forced me to quit lurking and finally post. I think I can speak for the other Norwayne fans and thank all of the Wayne County area folks for their support in this Bobcat playoff run - it seemed like a very impressive fan base last night and it was definitely not just Norwayne fans.thePITman;988997 wrote:

Just one note to add your physical ILB/QB did get stiffed arm by our nonphysical RB three times which was due in part of three of his biggest runs, but he was not physical, come on give credit where credits due -
thePITman
I agree that Franklin could be physical when he needed to be, and he had some good runs with some broken tackles and pushed some piles. However, LAST NIGHT, most of his plays came on the outside where he used his speed. I think it proved that Franklin is a very well-rounded running back... you don't rush for 3,416 yards without having some real "game". That kid could run! Those 2 yards he didn't get on the goal line stand were huge, though!JHS PRIDE;989025 wrote:Just one note to add your physical ILB/QB did get stiffed arm by our nonphysical RB three times which was due in part of three of his biggest runs, but he was not physical, come on give credit where credits due -
BobcatI am from Norwayne and I want to say Franklin is an awesome back. You dont do what he has done without being great. There is no debate. He has a very nice line in front of him and the QB is very good as well. Congrrats on a great season. You all should be very proud of your ball team

beatobamaMaybe he did have more in 1st half, but it was mainly on option pitches to perimter. No need to be defensive, just stating he was not what was all hyped up to be. I think he's a good football player, but I was expecting a Mr. Football type kid with that type of yardage. Why are athletes like him and the qb not used on "D"?

1486wdthe best player in the game was clearly wallace - he is the reason norwayne is headed to state, an absolute once in 50 yrs type of athlete. If norwayne does not have him, they would still be good, probably 7-3, 8-2, but wallace makes them great. In the first half, johnstown was winning the line battle on both sides. Wallace was under heavy pressure, but he simply threw the defenders off, or outran the defenders when he went back to throw. He was flat out impressive - I hope norwayne appreciates the talent that he is (i'm sure they do) - you just don't have a kid like that every year (or every generation).

problem till last night, I watched a lot of players over the years and for a RB to have 3,450 yrds and 51 TD sounds like a Mr. Football type kid to me, and so does your QB, VERY RARE TYPE OF PLAYERS -
ColumbusguyFrom my point of view Wallace is a good Runner and a hand off Qb bit throwing and under pressure it seemed like everytime are line was going in for a sack it seemed like he hurried up and tossed it in the air and lucky there was a receiver to get it some of them should have been accounted for grounding just to get rid of it
There was a couple of penalties I didn't like that we didn't receive like when Norwayne did a horse collar tackle on Smith and when 45 threw Franklin on th track when they were already out of bounds
It was a good game and the best team one
Good luck to Norwayne I hope you can contain Kentons QB and Receivers -

ColumbusguyI think the OSHAA picked a bad location to have the game Nice field but really bad seating its pretty bad some people paid $10 and thy had to stand up or sit on the ends

5knotspersonally, I loved the venue. Kind of like a wedding where the church is packed to the gills makes it seem more festive. I love people all bunched together....but that is me.
Franklin is very very good, everyone knew that. The unknown was whether Johnstown could stop Norwayne.....no way in he#$! Once they were up 10 you could almost put a fork in it and when the Johnnies failed on 4th and goal. the fork was stuck deep.
Wallace is the cog in the wheel. I would characterize Norwayne as a very solid team. few, if any missing pieces at all with very solid/smart players at most all positions. Any one of them may not wow you individually but as a team they are (right now IMO) unbeatable. Then you throw Wallace in their. He is what makes it all work. He may not impress you true QB guys....but I'll take him behind my center any day of the week. Kid is a winner and a fighter and fast enough with his size/strength to make it difficult to sack him. That is when the biggest damage is done.
Congrats to the Cats. I enjoyed watching you last night. You played a perfect game...perfect. I hope you have one more in you! -
1486wdabsolutely - he threw off would be sackers like gnats - I agree he threw a couple up under pressure that he shouldn't have, but the rest of his throws were strikes, very catchable balls.5knots;989192 wrote:personally, I loved the venue. O-Trap
The guy has 2,677 passing yards on the year as of last night (per the Daily Record). That comes out to about 191 a game. He has 902 yards rushing, which is about 64 yards rushing per game.Columbusguy;989116 wrote:From my point of view Wallace is a good Runner and a hand off Qb bit throwing and under pressure it seemed like everytime are line was going in for a sack it seemed like he hurried up and tossed it in the air and lucky there was a receiver to get it some of them should have been accounted for grounding just to get rid of it

That band was incredible. Best HS band I have ever seen.......kurty66;989034 wrote:and the band as well! -
beatobamaAs I said before, I think he is a real good football player, but I don't think he was the best player on the field last night. I don't think he was even the best player on his own team.. I would take #45, #26 and #41 from Norwayne and #17 from the Johnnies first. Thise are great numbers, but Mr. Football is supposed to go to the best player in Ohio and I did not see the best player in Ohio on the field last night. Good luck to Mr. Franklin in his career. Has he chosen a school yet? how about the qb? I though he was the one to make thing go. Is he OK?

1486wdWe're splitting hairs but I don't think it's even close. The other players you mentioned are excellent, no question. But I think if Wallace doesn't play in that game Johnstown wins I don't think that's the case with the others.
-
thePITman
I agree and disagree at the same time. Without Wallace, Norwayne probably doesn't win. Without Maibach or Zimmerly, Norwayne probably doesn't win. All Norwayne's weapons are very talented and add extra dimensions to their offense and defense. They are a very good TEAM.1486wd;989934 wrote:We're splitting hairs but I don't think it's even close.
