First 2 posts? LOL welcome to the OC...not sure what we gave, but thanks for the reception.

#3 looks like he's floating when he runs, where is he playing ball at next year?

What really matters is what your trophy case looks like because nobody will know where anybody finshed this year except for the title game, in a few years just saying .. little red got an AP championship .. it does say something in my book

Seriously, Dover was a talented, well-coached team. You can't have that much talent and have a defense that bad. There is no excuse for that. Its unfortunate for those kids cuz they should have been able to go toe to toe with Mooney tonight, but that defense was just awful.

    Great year Dover.

It's alright. Once I got in past the part that you used, everything felt fine.

It was bad timing for the injury bug, Dover was without their best DE and best LB. Bottom line you can't turn the ball over and make stupid penalties. The tackling was atrocious.

Hell it should've been 35-31 at half, bc instead of just knocking the ball down before the half the Dover kid whiffed on the INT, lucky(doesn't matter now) the Mooney kid dropped it

    Good season Dover.

I don't think the problem was talent on defense. I've seen less talented teams than Dover stop Mooney's offense plenty of times. I really think the Dover coaching staff just pretty much ignores the defense because the offense should be enough. Well maybe against the Mariettas and Carrolltons of the world, but not against Mooney or Steubenville or DeSales or Coldwater or Ursuline or Chagrin Falls or......I could go on and on. Any halfway decent offense could pretty much score at will on that defense. Thats inexcusable for such a talented team.

R11 was decided last week in Canton just like most people predicted.

Congrats to Mooney GodSpeed the rest of the way. Happy for 4Cards, Rock & the rest of the Chatter/Huddler crew. Should be @ championship weekend for a few of the games, will miss the Semis.

Not surprised that Mooney scored 70 when Sheridan scored 53. Wow to put up 44 on O & get blown out, amazing.

I just don't understand how most (not all) teams that run the spread have terrible defenses or very soft.

I just heard that Big Red needs a team to scrimmage basketball because we have an open date, hey Dover are you available. Oh & I know if we beat you it is because we had an extra week....... .......right!

    RRR lookin forward to 2012

Same old song and dance. If Dover had any kind of gusto on D they cold have been right there and won this game. Dropped passes, questionable decision making by QB, penalties, turnovers.

    Leaves you wondering whatIfft.
  • Sykotyk
i said before the game that Mooney was very susceptible to the pass. And they were. But, Dover didn't execute well and let it get away from them. You can't do that to a team of Mooney's caliber. It takes a 'perfect' game to beat Mooney most years in the playoffs. I'll be rooting for Chagrin Falls. But, I just don't see it happening for them, either.

WOW! 70-44 in a regional final!? I couldn't believe the lack of defense in this game.

I think Chagrin Falls has the team to beat Mooney with their balanced offense attack....it's just a matter if CF can stop Mooney's offense.

Eh, idk. I haven't seen anyone else left in D3. While this Mooney team is very good, they seemed to be lacking somewhat compared to the Cards teams Ive seen over the past 5 or so years. IMO they seemed a heck of a lot smaller up front. They handled Dover but that was by no means a legit D. I have to imagine they will see an infinitely better D in the next two weeks. Also, seemed to be quite a few unforced errors. Penalties, blown coverages, mix-ups in the coverage. At the same time,a talented, athletic backfield though. Seems like they could run into a team who can match their line. If that team can score with them they could lose. Now, idk if that team exists. It may have been Big Red. Not sure.

A fact I think a lot of people are overlooking is that Mooney makes some amazing adjustments at halftime. Dover scored 31 points in the first half. Mooney went in at half, took away the screen pass from Dover, and held that offense to 6 points (plus a garbage time TD) in the second half. Mooney may make some mistakes, but they sure now how to make adjustments and make plays when they have to.

I think Mooney's offense is good enough to keep them in a game while the defense figures things out. Then in the second half, adjustments get made, and Mooney takes over.

I think it's going to be a hell of a game against Chagrin Falls, but I think Mooney should be able to pull it out.

Classy post. Thanks for the kind words. Really impressed with Swinderman (sp?). Any college offers yet?
  • FairwoodKing
Nothing has changed. Mooney will win the championship and Dover can't win anything.

They beat Big Red at Death Valley. They're happy with that. That was like a regional championship to them.

Aw shucks, the boys fought hard. The community is proud of em. Dale down at the hardware store, Rick at the mini-mart, and Eintz who owns the tire shop. They'll go on to college have some good clean fun and then come back to Dover, buy a house, and marry their high school sweethearts (sisters).

It's a kind of bonding experience. Pretty soon every generation of Dover male will have been a regional runner up. Let em have it.

Mooney's athleticism and halftime adjustments killed Dover. You can't expect to keep up with Mooney with that many turnovers. Our D was, as always, embarrassing (except for 45, Farmer played his heart out! too bad Mooney seemed to have at least 11 guys of his caliber). IMO the game ended when Mooney got that onside kick. It would be one thing if Dover got sh*tstomped from play 1, but leading at halftime and having that horrendous 2nd half is just heartbreaking as a fan. But I'm still proud as hell of Dover's season and particularly the seniors, nobody thought they'd see another regional championship game back in August, but they played above themselves all year and ended at least 8th out of 120. Mooney just had too many playmakers for Dover to keep it close for 4 quarters.

WOW, 70-44 in a Region Finals game. You have to feel bad for Dover at this point! 4 years now of being the bridesmaid in the Region and never the bride.

That's like taking a ugly girl to the school dance & making her walk behind you all the time, or having your dog lick his butt, then come over & try to lick your face.

Think of it this way. The last 2 years, Big Red has got in an extra week of basketball practice on Dover. That ought to account for something surely.

You are correct about going to college, coming home buying a house and getting married. Keeps the Dover boys' out of jail...Ya know what I mean?
