Week 12...Norwayne Bobcats vs. Orrville Red Riders

  • RedRider1
Reading that Medina seats 5400....what's everyone guess as to an attendance figure? Does this hit 7,000?
  • OQB
What was the attendance for the Dalton/Smithville game in 2002?

I would say this game will bring 5000-6500.

My thoughts on week 11...week 12...Maty Mauk....and why 8 playoff teams per region is too many.

So teams like Versailles, Coldwater, and Minster as well as a whole slew of other "lower seeded" teams can't pummel the higher seeded ones? I think 8 teams per region is just right.
  • Red Rum
Normally I tend to agree with alot of the things RR1 says, but I strongly disagree with the cutting the playoffs idea.

If that line of thinking prevailed, 7 teams who won (7th or 8th seeds) wouldn't even have qualified including Wadsworth & Versailles. One of these upsets occurred in every division except, interestingly enough, D6.
8 per region is a pretty good number.

If the playoff format were changed, I would be in favor of the 32 top teams in each Division being awarded a playoff spot, then creating regions. I'm also sure that system would spawn some blowouts as well.

I do agree that it doesn't matter because less revenue is not an option. If anything, the playoffs may expand in an attempt to maximize revenue. At that point, I think RR1 would have a much more valid argument.

I guess that means the Boobcats better hang a Goose Egg on the Riders!

    Red Rum,
Appreciate the thoughtful discussion at least...just one man's opinion.

Maybe you shouldn't do bong rips before posting stuff like this.

    Hope this helps.

Although I see the argument...I personally like the 8/region set up we use now. It shakes things up, even though most of the time the higher seeds win...

Truth is...I dont care who wins....Orrville wins...we gotta listen to you fans run your mouth.... Norwayne wins and they are the best since sliced bread...as much as i dislike Norwayne....I think Orrville eating crow is more appealing to me. LOL
i agree beast, if norwayne wins i gotta hear about how great they are for the next several years but if orrville wins then we get to hear about how the WCAL could never compete with them. Im a WCAL guy but my hatred for norwayne runs deep. Not sure who i want to win quite yet.
  • OQB
Nothing but respect from this Orrville fan.....Norwayne is a very solid football team. If we win so be it...the focus will be on week 13, not trying to make a point to wcal fans. If we lose...(I'll be mad lol) but will also be the first to give my congrats to the Bobcats and hope they make a good run.

    GO RIDERS, BEAT NORWAYNE!

Not real sure what a bong rip is.....Must be a Orrville thing.....I can't wait to hear the excuses if Orrville doesn't win this game....

RR1 is right about the playoffs being waterd down....the stats he gave are the same every year. Sure there are a few upsets. But for the most part the harbin system gets it right. Just an OHSAA money grab.

Of course even with 8 getting in, you get situations like region 19, where this year 11 teams were playoff good.

What a great week for Wayne County football. Two very deserving teams. One that came up short last week but dominated the entire first half. Congrats to the smithies on a fine year. Nobody, and I mean nobody from orrville is thinking anything but a tough tough game in store as it should be for a final sixteen matchup. There will be some pot stirrers on here trying to ruffle feathers. Ignore them. This group of seniors fir Norwayne has also been in some tough games and are battle tested just like the riders. "gonna be a dandy" is right. I'll be there and welcome some visitors to the RV for anyone who wants to chit chat this great matchup too bad the stars didn't align and this was a regional final game. I think these are two very similar teams and the winner will be the one who makes the fewest mistakes. Very close game as it should be. These are kids so you never know what will happen. We all need to enjoy the opportunity for sure.

Ok so I've sat back and read this Thread and orrvilles thread all year with out a remark but I think it's time now. First off this will be a good game anyone who thinks it will be a blowout is wrong the only way it's a blowout is if either side commits a lot I mistakes. That being said Norwaynr has not see a front 7 like Orrvilles all year. The team speed Orrville has will be a challenge for Norwayne but not an impossibility. For Orrville they have played better offensives this year and in the past two but you can not overlook the fact that Wallace has thrown for 2000+ yards and 20+ tds while also being able to run. Also Norwayne had not see a true playmaker like Stewart and a difference maker on defense like Mason (and Dylan and both Trevors) all this being said Orrville can not look down on Norwayne and Norwayne can't (and probably won't) stand in awe of Orrville
  • Riderfan17
On other news congrats to Drew and Mason for Special teams and defensive POY respectively and Stew Dylan L Trevor W Trevor S Cody W Alex S Kyle L Dakota H Wally W Brandon J Zane V Ronnie L Nick G for their All-OCC honors this year great to see Orrville come away with some many recipients

What are you smoking?? This Bulldog fan will not be rooting for Norwayne. Their coach, players, and fans are about as LOW CLASS as they come.

    GO RED RIDERS!!!

Assuming Brenner is the qb Sat, will we be seeing more of him in the Defensive Backfield than he played against Labrae ? The Bobcats have some tall receivers, nothing against the db's we have but some are not that tall. I'm just thinking we'll need Brenner to go both ways alot. waiting for Old Rider or 5 knots with the inside scoop.:D

I would not assume anything as to who plays what Saturday. Coaches will put together a game plan that willl give us the best chance to be successful based on what they see on film and personell match ups. And you won't get any if that "scoop" from me lol. Drew is a fine dual threat QB bur also a nightmare opposite Turner at wide out! Nice to have options this week. A QB with the hot hand or one who has taken you to the regional finals and state final four the last two years.

drew is most likely starting and will probably be used as much if not more defensively with the return of Kyle this week

That's just what I've been told by people close to the team but then again it's only monday

Regardless of what you hear or know...it's a nice option to have 2 capable QB's...and Norwayne needs to plan for both.
  • thePITman
I'm with Red Rum that 8 teams is the best bet, right now, for the playoffs. Maybe we should go "BCS" all up in here, combining Harbins with a human poll for each region. Oh boy, wouldn't that be fun!? LoL

I really enjoyed OQB's rundown. Very informative. But he kinda stole my thunder since I was planning on doing a similar breakdown later this week. Haha! I'll still give my thoughts in a few days in similar fashion.

yes they will it's nice to have a quarterback who's mobile and who has the hot hand right now and a qb who has the experience of leading a team to the Final Four
